Staff were a delight the entire stay. Room (1) was beautiful and clean, with windows on 3 sides (excellent for a breeze), lovely roll top bed, comfy mattress and very nice modern bathroom.
Bathrobes were a nice touch.
Ate at the hotel Saturday night and it was superb.
Scotch egg was delicious, pork fabulous and the pizza was gorgeous.
Excellent wine selection and utterly superb soft drink (bottles in the fridge) range.
Breakfast was really good. Yoghurt, fruits and cereal, then cooked options.
Not excessive, but more than enough to start the day.
Superb quality all round, would recommend.

Two day stay for a wedding locally. Just exactly what we needed. Best scrambled eggs I've tasted for years.

Limited menu, i.e, we arrived at 2oclock, hoping to grab some lunch, but the hotel had finished serving, day and night menu the same, just wanted a few sandwiches!! There was no atmosphere here either, probably wouldn't stay again

I had a very good meal in the dining room.

We used the hotel to visit the Roman Villa at The Newt and also the Fleet Air Arm Museum as both are with 15-20 mins drive from this excellent value hotel. Great breakfast and we also ate dinner at the hotel both nights. Very pleasant stay with good food, great service and attentive staff. Note, aircon in the room is a standalone unit which we didn't need to use. Comfortable bed and quiet location and the room had plenty of storage. Recommended. We would stay again.

Owner was most helpful and went out of his way to be a gracious host.

Service, staff and food quite excellent.
En-suite had an unfortunate aroma of mould / dampness and the room could do with a bit of a spruce up.

Room in a bad shape, but the bathroom was the most terrifying I ever experienced. A very very bad old urinary kind of smell. The toilet lid fell all the time down and a lot of foreign hair on the bathroom floor. Went back to the lady behind the bar and asked for another room mentioning the bad smell. According to her, no other room available.

The hotel was charming as were the staff. Our light supper was very good but unfortunately the breakfast was not great as the poached eggs were over cooked and as we were due to leave straightaway we couldn’t re-order. We would still stay there again when we are in the area.

Hotel service and cleanliness good post COVID opening. Rooms were clean and tidy. Service was great in bar and for breakfast. Bed mattress slightly uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel in a charming village. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay in this hotel who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are well thought out with comfy towels and dressing gowns provided. We had a lovely meal in their restaurant, very spacious with exquisitely embroidered napkins! Beer garden was a delight to sit in with fabulous view of countryside rolling hills. Lots of information available about the local area.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff who were very attentive throughout our stay. Room was very clean and quite spacious. Breakfast was good but more variety of fresh fruit would be an additional plus. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and quality of food was excellent and service also good.Would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Avery nice place to eat and stay. However, although our bedrom was comfortable and pleasant , we had the disabled bathroom, which was not well designed or comfortable to use for non disabled people. Overall a nice place.

Definitely no where no 5* hotel. Rooms very basic and beds not very comfortable. Worst thing was I went to make tea in my room and when I turned over the cup it had obviously not been cleaned. Then I noticed that the dressing table was covered in what looked like old tea stains. Very dissatisfied with cleanliness and very limited facilities usually associated with a 5* hotel

Just following the satnav and coming left off the A303, you might wonder where you've ended up at first; led off down a narrow country lane covered with dense foliage and getting narrower. Then, the route opens up to reveal a delightful English country village and at its centrepiece, the Kings Arms. A friendly welcome awaits into a beautifully appointed hotel. Proudly traditional but at the same time pleasingly on trend, not a single horse brass in sight. The menu and wine list are comprehensive, rooms comfortable and the bathrooms are a real feature. A great place to stay whether as a country retreat, a focus for a tour of the local area or even as a base for an executive working visit

Overnight stay for business. Hotel a little out of the way. Quiet, comfortable, with friendly attentive staff. Usual English Breakfast which was of good quality.

Excellent place to stay. Breakfast was tasty (accomodated dietary requirements very well). Only minor observation / suggestion for improvement (and I reiterate minor) is curtains could be thicker to stop light in the early summer mornings.Staff were very nice. Inn was very clean. Would come back again without hesitation.

Stayed for two nights while speaking at the Sherborne Literary Festival. A great choice. A little out of the way but an interesting historic village

Staff fantastic, hotel rooms need decorating and rooms far too hot.
