I’ve stayed twice and will say the rooms are ok and the breakfast is great. The location is excellent if you want to see “real Tunis” because if you walk three blocks away from the Medina the city gets more interesting

The rooms are very small.

Tremendous service, great amenities, terrific location.

The staff were very helpful and the room was good except for the aircon only worked on full and freezing or off and to hot to sleep. The location was excellent. Very quaint hotel.

Amazing position and extremely helpful staff. It didn’t have a restaurant for evening meals whilst we were there but there are places to eat close by.

May be some improvement for the breakfast - need more ingredients BUT staff is EXCELLENT.

I highly recommend The Hotel Royal Victoria - Ex British Embassy, Tunis, Tunisia, for any foreign traveler, not because it is centrally located (next to the Medina) and tour companies frequent this area, not because it is an historically important landmark, not because there are local restaurants within walking, not because all the internal woodworking - doors, ceilings, furniture was updated and all are hand painted by local Tunisian craftsman, not because of the fabulous breakfast buffet, but because of the STAFF! Day and Night managers; Omar, Omaima, Ladfe, Security; Mohammed and the two Ladies who create the breakfast Buffet, all are sincerely interested in providing all services that will assist you during your stay and in your travels. I could not have accomplished my goals without their help, THANK YOU to all the HRV STAFF.

Beautiful hotel. Great service. Next to Medina

Property is located well, next to the Medina as well as the Bourghiba Ave. Lots of dining options around. The square and gate infront of hotel makes it a good and festive envirnment in the eveneings. Mohammed, Omar and Umaymah was very helpful. Breakfast was decent.

This hotel looks beautiful and is very central. However the wifi was unreliable and occasionally inaccessible for some of our group.

The location was perfect to the old town. The hotel was historically beautiful. The only negative was the shower leaked. The staff was great! Highly recommend this hotel.

Location is excellent.
Breakfast selection is very varied; something for everybody.

The place is gorgeous but it needs to close and go through an entire renovation. The staff is nice but they need to be trained to an international standard (apart from a very professional lady at the reception).
Location is awesome if you’re looking for a local experience, just at the entrance of the kasbah and at the end of a beautiful boulevard.

Friendly staff. Clean, though a bit dated.

Great hotel, with authentic traditional Tunisian decor, and amazing staff

Ideal location to explore the medina, as it’s on your doorstep.
Rooms didn’t look like the pictures on hotels.com, the room & bathroom was as lot smaller.
AC just blowed out hot air, when I went to reception I was told that they did not blow cold air. Maybe they only switch on the cold function in summer. This meant opening the window because the room got stuffy, subsequently was bitten quite a few times by mosquitoes.
Rooftop was closed for renovation when we stayed.
Breakfast buffet was OK but I’ve had better.
TV reception poor.
Friendly staff.

Good service and right next to the medina. Nice cosy room with a balcony. Breakfast adequate but nothing special.

This restaurant boasts a restaurant and room service. They have neither. The do open a side area for a breakfast bar in the morning. However when I arrived in the evening after landing I was hungry and they had zero food options. They kept saying they could help me with that and didn’t. I was supposed to have a king bed. I had two twins each separately bedded pushed together. When I went down to point this out the put me off until the morning. I went outside to find a place to eat. The area of the Medina was dark and desolate with men hanging about outside doors. I had been warned multiple times not to wander in this area alone as a single female, yet this hotel representative told me to walk even farther and I would find some food. This was completely unsafe so I slept hungry. Their advertsement of their facility is an absolute lie and Expedia should investigate it. It is unsafe also because the staircase is dark, very dark so evacuating in case of a fire would be dangerous. It is a horrible, run down, unsafe property, with no restaurant, room service, they never serve alcohol despite claiming they do, and while it is near the Medina, you won’t want to be there at night.

The hotel is in a great location. The hotel staff were friendly - the breakfast staff went above and beyond. The hotel itself is quite tired. The hot water was on and off. There is very little communal space. The roof was closed. The cafe at the front had limited opening times. There was not much security. The TV didn't work. There was nothing in the mini-bar.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful old building. The location between the medina and the modern shopping strip is excellent, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Good hotel with history. Great location and close to everything, very convenience.

This historic hotel, boasting a few centuries of respectable heritage, enjoys a prime location adjacent to the French gate, the heart of Tunis. While the room's small size slightly compromised comfort, its proximity to high traffic areas posed a challenge for my asthma (perhaps I should have kept the windows closed). A notable highlight was the courteous staff, who kindly provided us with umbrellas when raining.

Nice property. Well appointed, exquisitely decorated, and a historic location in its own right. Staff was exceptional.

I really don’t understand what’s extra with the VIP entry

The decor is a bit dated in the European standards, but all in all I had a wonderful, chilled and enjoyable stay

The hotel was really well located and the rooms comfortable. Breakfast was great and had nice views. Highly recommend it.

Very Nice Hotel. The Royal Victoria is a very nice hotel just outside the Tunis Medina. The hotel is showing some wear but perfectly acceptable accommodations. The staff are amazing, from Omar and Hassan at the front desk to the ladies managing the kitchen at breakfast. All very accommodating to ensure your stay is perfect. My only complaints: (1) the air conditioning in out suite did not cool the room. Not sure it was working. Notified staff but no improvement. And (2) the WiFi is spotty. We stayed in one of the suites at the end of the hall, and the WiFi rarely connected.
