Great stay post wedding in Williamsburg. Had a great braised short rib beef dip in the Hunt Room with a nice Old Fashioned cocktail.
Celebrated at Orion's Rooftop Top where the view made up for a bit too pricey dinner
Would definitely stay again

Beautiful hotel and great staff!

What really sets places apart this day and time is the service. Staff was absolutely top notch. Would love to stay again in the future.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this extraordinary hotel, which truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The opulent atmosphere evoked the grandeur of The Great Gatsby, with stunningly beautiful and immaculately clean facilities. The staff were exceptional, displaying impeccable manners, respect, and warmth. Our family had the trip of a lifetime, and I would eagerly return to relive the experience. Without a doubt, this hotel has set a new standard for excellence in my eyes.

They will charge you $30 bucks every time you pull your car in and out of the garage beware

Beautifully restored historic hotel, wonderful hospitality and five star service. Nice Beach Club and pool, and the restaurant, Becca, was very good. We will return!

A luxury hotel through and through. Don’t recommend Becca though.

No. This is the like... fifth time we've gone through this exercise. I am not writing an actual review. Stop asking me to. Just let me rate it 5-stars. It was a wonderful hotel experience, but I have no desire to explain in detail what the issue is. At this point, I'm more annoyed about getting these emails from you all when you manually review the review and decide it doesn't fit your standards.

Lovely hotel and it was very convenient as the wedding we were attending was also at the property. Check-in was great. Nick was very attentive and offered us a welcome glass of sparking wine and showed us to the elevator. He had also arranged for our Tesla to be charged overnight as it needed to be charged for our return home the next morning (more on that later because it was NOT charged overnight). Room was tastefully decorated and clean. Amenities were nice and large shower had wonderful water pressure. Bed was a little too firm for our liking and there was no blackout curtains so we were awake bright and early at 7am! The room was very quiet though - didn't hear any other guests. Although we were thankful that our room was ready at 3pm, there no restaurants/cafes open for even a small bite to eat. We were told that it opened at 4pm (which is their usual check-in time - which is a little late given our experience with other hotels). We ended up eating some very expensive chips and nuts from the mini bar in our room. The wedding started at 5pm and food wouldn't be served until about 6pm for cocktail hour. I had to eat something after drinking a glass of sparkling wine on an empty stomach. Anyway, turndown service was very nice. Real problem began when we woke up much earlier than we had intended too but it actually was fortunate that we did since they had neglected to charge our Tesla overnight!!! Front desk did not pick up the phone. Brian, at checkout, not good!

Elegance at its best

One at least one occasion the room was partially cleaned … towels not folded, bed made, food tray not removed… shower floor towel not replaced, etc.

It wqs very classy and comfortable

The hotel is exceptional. Unique in every way. The staff, especially the valet service were outstanding. Be warned however, that reservations are required well in advance for the restaurants. The only issue we had was the response we did not receive upon learning that we had left some clothing behind in the closet. Upon calling, we were told that it would be looked into. To date, we have received no reply back from the staff.

I had not been to the Cavalier since 1970 when I was a little girl. Back then there were hardly any buildings or houses around the Cavalier. All I remember was the view of the Atlantic Ocean and what seemed like a hill in which The Cavalier was built. Today the views are very different and the renovation is exquisite!
I look forward to the centennial in 2027!

Problem with the heat in the common areas for the 6 days that we were there. We had to wear a jacket in the lobby, bar and restaurant area. Valet app didn't work.
Staff worked around these issues and were very helpful. Very beautiful hotel.

I have returned again and departed wirh the same disappointment... there is no good management - e.i. service

Customer service is non existent. The front desk was SO rude after they gave us wrong keys and then gave us keys to someone else's room! They thrn said they would upgrade us to an oceanview suite for the trouble. However it was not an upgraded room, it was a downgrade from what we paid for! When we went back down to say this was actually a downgrade, the front desk guy said yes it is a suite and an upgrade. I said that we've stayed multiple times in a suite and this was not one. He then said- well I work here everyday and I'm saying it's an upgrade. Toodles! And turns around to leave while I'm still talking. Just overall horrible customer service. And no one apologized for giving us keys to someone else's room. Those people also had no idea thay we were in their room- just not ok overall. This used to be our favorite place to stay but the customer service makes us think otherwise. We ate breakfast in Becca and the amount of flies around, on us and our food constantly, was pretty gross. Just overall not what we've experienced before or expect from the Cavalier. Try the Marriott across the street- Orion's roof was amazing for food and the customer service there was much better!

I booked my stay in August and was excited since I am a local and have never stayed at the Cavalier. We were attending the Bourbon Invitational so it was the perfect excuse. 30 minutes before arrival, I received a call from the front desk manager indicating they were overbooked and had to cancel my reservation. I booked this is AUGUST, it is now NOVEMBER, HOW DID I GET BUMPED OUT OF MY ROOM?!! They offered me a stay across the street and a "full refund" plus parking expenses as compensation for the inconvenience. It was a nice gesture but I was very disappointed. We stayed at the Marriot across the street and it was nice despite getting shifted hotels. NOW THE FUN PART.... the refund...... It has taken me 6 calls and many follow-up emails for my refund but they won't refund the resort fee and taxes..... so much for fully compensated due to their error. It is a beautiful hotel but because of such crappy management and booking, I will NEVER STAY THERE.

Our stay was great, the people were friendly and inviting. The property was gorgeous and clean. The food was 5 stars, those parmesan truffle fries I could eat a keg of. All in all, a great stay, one improvement I would suggest would be to upgrade their linens (Bedding & Towels). They weren't bad per say just used past their prime. There were newer hand towels and wash cloths, but the bath towel felt like sandpaper.

Upon entering The Cavalier, one is transported in time to an era where faces such as Frank Sinatra and Bette Davis graced the halls.
The staff is exceptional, going out of their way to assure your stay exceeds your expectations. Put this resort on your “must stay at” bucket list! Its well worth it!

Don’t really se why this is a 4 start hotel, just because they gave you a glass of wire or water when you check in.. I will not pay $600/night another time to sleep only…

AWESOME Stay! Took wife for a overnight getaway and really enjoyed ourselves! Clean room. Nighttime vibes were cool! Pool/Hot tub were great. Didnt see no ghosts though :(

The furniture in the suite was not very comfortable and was questionable for cleanliness. Someone was able to access the door lock at 10:00pm but luckily the door latch was in place and prevented full intrusion. Otherwise a fine stay.

Very classic and refined hotel stay experience. Loved the professionalism of the staff and also loved the elegance of the hotel property itself.
4.6
Absolutely loved the stay. We were taken care of from beginning to end.
Staff, food, service, private beach club, beach transit, decor, cleanliness… the list goes on and on.
While certainly more affordable options, this was by far the best experience.
4.6
Wonderful place. So classic and friendly. The staff all very friendly, very clean and organized rooms, and not too much noise at nights. Perfect gateaway with your family. Most evening tea and coffee would be served in the lobby

We planned a special trip to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Our stay did not disappoint - the facility is beautiful, very clean, and the staff is amazing. We ate dinner and breakfast at Becca - food and service was impeccable. We enjoyed the Distillery tour and the history of the hotel is very interesting.
