Stayed Thursday 12th Sept 2024
The private room was on the 10th floor and it was cold but the receptionist did warn me and give me an extra blanket. The lamp and wall plug were across the room / at the bottom of the bed so that was a bit annoying. I had come from LA over night so they did let me in to shower but charged me $5 + $5 to borrow a towel. The shower was luke warm but this morning was hot. Luggage storage is free. You must scan your key fob to access the lift/ elevator so that felt safe.

I stayed in a private room, which itself was very clean and comfortable. However the remainder of the facilities left a lot to be desired. The kitchen is small and cramped for the size of the hostel, with insufficient items for use. E.g. I could only ever find 3 knives in the whole kitchen. Similar can be said for the dining area. The location was fine, though a bit of street noise on a Friday night.
Seemed that those in dormitories were given their bedding on check in and had to make up beds themselves. Seems odd to me. Staff on the front desk did the bare minimum.

Lovely friendly staff, good location. This is not fancy accommodation by any means but it will keep you warm & dry for the night!

It was adequate for my requirements. A little annoying that staff were not on the front desk when I needed them!

Great location in the city, staff were friendly and kimd, clean facilities and our private room had a great view.

The property is very centrally located. It is near transport, Queen St and shopping and restaurants. The room was fine. Jamie and Melanie were wonderfully helpful and friendly. Would stay here again.

Nothing horrible. Nothing excellent. Very loud and the lobby was disgusting in the morning. That did not effect me though so no big deal.

second time staying here while in Rotorua. Safe and clean environment setting. The place to stay while in this region.

THE WORST. You wont get any sleep here, and we had a SCARY experience:
1- Walls are paper thin. You can hear every word. This is in a private room, so imagine the dorms!!
2- The temperature of the room was 14.6 degrees. No heating system (reception only had 1 small fan to lend guests).
3- Filthy stained ceilings and walls.
4- Scary: despite extending our stay and getting email confirmation from staff to stay in the same room, we woke up at 10:10 to find a tall man inside our room standing above me and my wife asking us to leave the room!! Not knocking, but coming in to shake our bed!
I explained that we extended. We go back to sleep, and then an hour later another girl called Madeline comes inside our room and does the same!! The same girl who confirmed our extension in the same room!
I told her that we extended, and instead of making us sleep in peace, she says she will go down check the computer and wake us up for the THIRD time!!
She then proceeded to ask us to pack our belongings and move to another room DESPITE writing the confirmation email!!
5- Customer Service: I politely complain to reception about what happened, and these are some quotes i got:
- "We are not resoonsible for you not being able to sleep"
- "We are doing you a favour by extending your stay in the same room".
- "You are lucky to get a room for this price"
- "I am sure that girl was polite and she was just under stress".
I had 18 more days booked but glad i cancelled them.

Worst hotel, so dirty...
But good staff

(stayed in private rooms)
Simple room that was tidy and clean.
Bed had a single duvet on it - would have been nice to have the option of more blankets when it was cold. Room did had it's own inbuilt heater though so not a huge issue.

The staff was very helpful

I'm sorry, but the only post I've thing I can say about this hostel is location. Okay, and maybe the wonderful country themes on the various floors...which I couldn't see because the fob takes you to your floor only.
This place needs a lot of improvements, ie, lockers in the room, charging stations for each bed, curtains for each bed.
Disappointing there was only two showers and two toilets for the entire floor.
It was not a very clean facility, compared to other hostels. I dropped something under the bed (it was hanging on the bed rail near my head), and on the process of retrieving pulled up a huge dirty hairball. Seems washrooms are only cleaned once a day.
I had asked for a bottom bunk prior to arrival. However, they gave it to someone else. The staff member was apologetic and managed to get things sorted...but this was due to the fact the person who had 'my' bottom bunk was kind enough to move.
Some staff were lovely, others not so motivated.
No maps. Some staff didn't have a clue on recommendations.
Kitchen small. I didn't use it except to get water.
Additional positives--they were good at responding to messages. From the point of security, I also appreciated that the front door was locked after a certain time.

Great. Staff.

Perfect location close to everything in CBD!
Staff were friendly. Private room was good.
If you stay a few days, it is good accommodation:-)

Great location. The hostel is more like a hotel with 3 floors for the facilities mixed with many more floors with several rooms each.
My room was mixed and people made numerous disturbances.

All good

Dirty bathrooms and kitchen, not up to the standard in regards to the price. And towels to hire are 10 dollars, not very sustainable considering a new one is like 6 dollars maximum (and just feels a bit cheap to be far)

Well located. Pleasant staff. Room was clean and functional, as was the shared bathroom. Other guests in the property seemed much at ease. Would consider booking here again.

This is the backpackers place to stay in Auckland CBD. Safe and Secure. Clean and well maintained.

The staff here were lovely and welcoming, however when we went to the room the trash bin was full, and there was rubbish on the floor, including an unused tampon. When we stripped the beds at the end of the stay for washing, one of the beds had both pee stains and blood stains on the mattress cover.
5.0
Very close to the CBD and within walking distance of cafes, shopping, and places to eat out.

It's good value, but could've done with fewer stains on the floor haha.

The location is excellent. University of Auckland, Library, Queen Street, and Sky Tower is very close. I enjoyed staying at 10F single room with nice view of the clock tower of the art museum.

Nice clean cosy

I stayed in a private room on the 8th floor and took the best shower I think I’ve ever taken in a hostel.
2.5
Very clean and well kept, wonderful service and a really nice atmosphere. Perfect location. Only thing is having an outlet with a ledge beside the bed would be nice.
1.5
Nice place but there is just so many people. This makes it hard to keep bathroom or other facilities clean. Kitchen cleaning hours were not at right time!

The staff was super helpful and it was clean. Right in the city

Excellent location, but building is a bit run down

All good! this my first backpacker! I do really like it friendly staff fast wifi in my room
2.0
The rooms are spacious which makes it very comfortable even with 7 other people sharing it, beds are standard. There were 6 rooms on my floor and only 2 showers, which seems a bit small but if you get up early it’s not an issue. The showers are in separate small rooms along with a toilet and sink which is a huge plus. The kitchen is alright, a lot of different pans and pots but not a single sharp knife and it gets crowded easily. The overall experience was good but not exceptional.
2.5
Very friendly and helpful staff! Bathrooms and common areas were cleaned daily
