Friendly staff, ample parking, 24hr garage nearby - a great economical stop-off
3.0 / 10.0
This is a budget hotel and so the price reflects this.
Positives first.
Plenty of parking. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with plenty of tea & coffee. Mini fridge and microwave. Good shower
And now the negatives
Hotel is very dated with carpet on communal steps hanging off.
Overpowering smell when you entered the room. No bedside cabinet on one side, however the fixing holes in the wall were on show. Same with the TV which was on the table but would have at some point been on the wall, as again the old fixing points were visible.
And on the point of the long laminate table. Goodness knows what the previous guests did but there were large gouges in the laminate. The whole room was desperately in need of decorating and a new carpet.
Bathroom had been cleaned but there was still mildew on the sealant.
Worst of all was the mattress. The sheets were clean but the mattress was totally worn out with no firmness whatsoever. If you sat on the end of the bed, the mattress came up on the other end. Totally uncomfortable.
The whole place is in desperate need of renovation to bring it up to standard. It’s very tired and uninviting. That said I suppose the price reflected this but be beware when booking and don’t expect a lot.

Ok, so if you are a male contractor that has muddy boots at the end of a working day and getting the cheapest rate regardless of the state of the place then you peobably wouldnt mind this place. As a female professional contractor in IT this is not the kind of place I’d choose to stay in. I cannot understand why it had so many good reviews when it is far from satisfactory. Grubby bathroom , brown stains in bath black mouldy silicone , paint off walls in bedroom part , flat hard pillows, thin quilt I cld go on but I think you get the picture . If comfort , cleanliness and price point is not a major issue don’t stay here .

The pics showing the rooms. Are very misleading when I went into my room I was disgusted the carpet had bits all over it. The decor was dirty and very dingy the skirting boards were dirty and covered in filth the walls are dirty and in dire need of a good paint job. The mirrors look like they haven’t been polished for a while the bathroom had a horrible dirty smell. Only good thing was the towels lovely and white bedding was clean but very grey

Stayed in this hotel a few times but this time round the cold water wasn’t working I told the reception the guy said we are Aware of this situation but We can’t do anything about it I did ask if we can move rooms he said we are fully booked. So I had to wash my face with Extremely hot water which I wasn’t happy with.

In dire need of updating, the smell of damp was overpowering and the carpet was stained and grubby. Worst place I have ever stayed in.

Bit isolated but high quality steak restaurant over the road plus a well stocked spar and Starbucks
Fire alarm went off and took awhile to get turned off

Very quite area and next to a petrol pump. Coming from Dewsbury there should have proper signs to guide customers. Going out towards Leeds Road, no sign for Bus Lane, when I turn left I end up on Bus Lane. The Camera on the bus lane flashed and I will receive Penalty Notice for this which is only due to poor signs and marking for Bus Lane.

Reception and rooms were very tired and in need of a referb throughout, room was not clean. Hairs on pillow, sticky tables, mirrors were smeared, empty red bull can in the bin.
Reception staff was excellent last night, but no engagement from the staff this morning.
No view, apart from busy road, a fuel station and a bin store.
Room was noisy, as no aircon, meant window had to be open... it was like police, camera action last night, big lorries driving past hitting a large pothole, felt they were going to crash. I didnt sleep.

I fell down in the bath room and hurt myself seriously, but the staff not even given any helf. The bath 🛁 is really slippery that's is the problem.
A bathtab is a solution, but the hotel can't provide anything.

This hotel is not suitable for overnight holiday stays. It is grubby and in a state of poor repair. We checked in and decided after a few minutes to leave and find somewhere better to stay. I was told later by locals that it is used for long term residents!
5.0 / 10.0
Cheap and cheerful everything we needed was in the room
2.0 / 10.0
Cannot imagine that a corpse would accept the cleanliness of the mattresses
Changed rooms attempting to find a clean one but to no avail
Will try to upload pictures if allowed
Only stay if you have no desire to continue with life
Read previous reviews and doubted it could be that bad….. lesson learned

It’s not what I expected from the pictures, very budget hotel with very old and dainty furniture. The room was smelly and carpet stained by bathroom. Bed was horrible old and dirty duvet covered in clean sheets and covers! I dare not to look at the mattress! The bathroom was terrible. Whole place needs a revamp new of carpet and furniture. I won’t be staying again. Staff were nice and friendly. Convenient as near to local amenities.

I arrived late as I travel for my job. On arrival the gentleman who greeted me seemed friendly and gave me the keys for the room.
When I got to my ground floor room (105) I was greeted with a strong smell of damp dirty carpets. The walls were chipped and stained, The bathroom door was half painted, the bed and chair were draped with white cloth as they were stained & ripped, My window was left wide open, the desk was all chipped and their attempts to cover it with a biscuit did not work. When I showered it was almost impossible to turn it off. After about 10 minutes of trying I succeeded. Finally when I went to bed the dust in the room flared up my MILD asthma. At 4 am there was a banging on my door, there were no security key fobs to get in off the streets so I was scared as to who it was. When I finally got back to sleep I woke up to start another days work of travel. After getting ready I packed up my bags and finished my breakfast. At 9:55, 5 minutes before check out a very rude member of staff (a lady with mousey brown hair) banged on my door. When I answered she told me it was 10:00 and I had to get out. At this point I was loading myself up with bags ready to leave anyway but she was so very rude and unwelcoming. There is no need to speak to your paying guests in that manner. I had an awful stay at the Metro Inns. Smelly, rude staff, dirty and just in general grubby and tired.

If it wasn't for them giving me the accessibility room I would have rated them terrible. Thilthy cup's with coffee stains still on the rim. A bottle top on the carpet. Stains on the mattress. I'm sure I was getting bit on my arms and legs from sleeping in the bed. Do I need to say more. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I checked in and checked out, it was dirty right the way through, the room smelt of sour milk and the mattress was ripped and covered in urine, blood and god knows what, that hotel is not fit for dogs, it needs closing down and guttering before humans can stay there, some one smashed a window out in one of the rooms as it was being broaded up when I turned up, a man was walking around talking angry into a phone and shouting at his child, you really should take this hotel off your site.

Very tatty, filthy and stained carpets in public areas. Dismal, flickering lights in corridors. Badly repaired hole in bathroom door.
Holes in dressing table surfaces. No aircon so had to leave window open, which is just above the very noisy aircon machinery for the Shell garage next door.

Shabby and rundown.Needed updating and refreshed. Carpets, silicone and tiles in the bathroom. Furniture damaged.
Linen and towels were clean.

You get what you pay for and £40 doesnt buy you much. This place is starved of investment and it shows. Tired, worn out furniture, chipped and scratched decor and threadbare linen and towels. Outside entrance area hasn’t been swept of cigarette ends for months. Stay here if you’ve run out of options elsewhere.

For £40 a night u certainly can not complain.
Clean enough , booked 2 rooms catch broken on the window , could not shut out the road noise, the rooms showing signs of age, but as i said for 40 pound there clean and tidy , well worth tge price

On entry to the building piled ceiling to floor with dirty linen, also going through the reception and to the stairs, carpet strips peeling off the stairs
The duvet covers looked as if washed a million miles and gone from white to grey, the duvet had large brown stains showin through, I slept intermittently on the chair, building drab and needs revamping

Arrived at the hotel. The bedroom was filthy - bedframes, walls, curtains and bedsheets. These were covered dirty markings and stains.
The lock on the door had fallen off. In a unknown area and a hotel in this state, made us feel very unsafe.
We requested for a refund, which was declined due to a '24hrs' policy. We did not stay, we left within the hour of turning up.

Very dirty, poor condition throughout
