I joined a friend there and we found the hotel to be a calm oasis after the busy streets of Cartagena! It was aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Delicious breakfast. A most enjoyable experience.

We had a wonderful stay in the bedroom/loft room. Great, comfortable stay. Located on a street near all the bars and restaurants so everything is walkable and safe but far enough away that it isn't too loud at night.

I absolutely recommend this hotel and it’s 4 star excellent staff w my eyes closed. It was an amazing experience. My first time in Cartagena and the staff was remarkable. They helped us find great tours , restaurants, and shops. I am so grateful for the staff especially Dorean!!! He is an absolute gem. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel it’s an experience in itself. Many blessings l

The staff was absolutely lovely and went out of their way to help
Me. The house is also just beautiful.💕

It is a small, beautiful, colonial property with wonderful staff (front desk, doormen, cleaners, waiters). Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome and safe. The bfast was very good, the coffee strong (a french press, no espresso), and the restaurant has a good ceviche. I worked on my laptop in the courtyard one afternoon and it was amazingly peaceful and productive. The actual room, however, could be improved. The shower temperature was lukewarm to cool (which given the temps outside might be a relief to most), the wash basin hardware is unsightly and should be replaced, and real bathrobes and slippers would be a nice touch (the silky Asian robes might suit some, but gave the wrong vibe, personally). The rooms have a large TV with cable and streaming capacity, and a really great cooling system. It was a great relief. But...maybe because it worked so well, I would have preferred more than the sparse bedding provided. Some high-grade sheets and thin comforter would go a long way. I appreciated that the hotel is wonderfully located, in the thick of it, but still is quiet and serene once you cross threshold; it was a sanctuary. Some historic information and recommended walking itineraries at the ready would be a great idea.

There are not enough positive words to describe this magnificent hotel. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is beyond friendly and professional. I was extremely impressed! Thank you for making my trip perfect!

We’ve travelled extensively, and this hotel is perfection. An oasis is the bustle of Cartagena. It feels like the hotel is your private luxury home. It’s honestly a preferable option than an Airbnb. The hotel is blessed with kind, attentive and expert staff. Superb Colombian breakfasts served poolside daily, many beautiful quiet nooks to relax and read. Would highly recommend to anyone new (or not!) to Cartagena.

The hotel is amazing, the room has beautiful and unique decor and exceeded my expectations. We had the most delicious breakfast, our server Veronica was excellent. The location is the best , within two blocks you can find the best restaurants .

We visited this hotel for 4 days, 3 of those days we couldnt sleep because of early morning drilling sounds, people working in the rooftop and noise of guests/staff around the room (you can hear everything). Also the last night (day 4) there was NO WATER or ELECTRICITY from 7 am until we left the hotel at 2:30 pm. (We had to pick up our stuff in the dark with a lantern that they gave us) Also there was a leak in the bathroom ceiling that filled the floor with rainwater. Never coming back again.

The pool was closed the entire stay and the restaurant no longer existed. Other than that it was fine

Lindo hotel, buena atención del
Personal pero cuartos no les sirve el aire, no sirve el agua caliente, los baños están sucios, se fue el agua…lastima, ha podido ser mucho mejor

Such an amazing hotel. The location is amazing and the service was great. The bed also was super comfortable and the whole hotel is so chic and stylish. Quiet and private rooftop pool and the food they had there was some of the best we had in Colombia (try the ceviche!) The included breakfast is also fantastic.
One of my favourite hotels of all time!! We will definitely stay with Amarla again when we are back

What a gorgeous gem the Amarla turned out to be!!! The lobby area is gorgeous and serene. The rooftop offers a gorgeous view, nice sized pool, plentiful seating and eating areas and an herbal garden! The room was comfy for two. Beds and linens were soft. The made-to-order breakfast, which was included, was delicious and fresh! The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and evening strolls to many wonderful restaurants. I would love to come back and stay here again and again.

Absolutely gorgeous and the suite was the most beautiful place I’ve ever slept in! And the softest beds, we all slept like babies! Breakfast was phenomenal and the staff was gracious and attentive. I highly recommend Amarla to anyone visiting Cartagena.

I ended up staying here last minute when I got to Cartagena. I was in another hotel that was beautiful but too loud at night. Amarla was the perfect combo of being central but quiet, affordable, clean, and beautiful. It is small so there isn’t a ton of people - good for COVID. Breakfast was delicious, staff was accommodating, and pillow top bed was one of the best I’ve ever had. And I have stayed many places with luxury. I extended my stay to stay in the hotel an extra night because it was so good!

Great property—well kept, super amenities & attentive staff. Ruby at the front desk was amazing! It felt like we were staying in our home and the staff looked out for us 24/7. The view from rooftop is a 10. Food prepared there for us was also very good. I highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is centrally located in the old city, within walking distance to everything. Staff was helpful and friendly - even prior to our arrival they helped with all our restaurant reservations. The hotel is very tastefully decorated - the photos don’t do it justice. We stayed in the duplex suite and loved the room - though strangely enough the hotel housekeeping used part of the living room in our suite for their storage and would come in whilst we were in the room to access their things. Which was a little odd and could have been intrusive to some, but we didn’t mind. The kitchen is currently under reconstruction so breakfast has to be pre-ordered and made in a neighbouring kitchen. This sometimes meant delays in getting our breakfast but the staff was very apologetic and it really wasn’t their fault. Overall we had a great time at the hotel and would highly recommend it.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, this is a small boutique hotel with only 6 rooms, a gorgeous lobby with open air atriums, restoration hardware style furnishings mixed with local Colombian art. The staff is attentive to each and every detail, breakfast is made to order by a wonderful kitchen crew (try the local options, you wont regret it). Ed the General Manager goes above and beyond to arrange anything you need, cars, tours, etc or just point out spots on the map. We were there on Colombian Independence Day and Gay Pride, so needless to say the city was filled with visitors and getting into restaurants was impossible on FRI/SAT nights, but Ed & Francisco made phone calls and even personally walked us to restaurants, speaking to the managers to ensure we got a table. First class service. Theres also a wonderful rooftop pool with plenty of lounging spaces. We will DEF be recommending this to friends and look forward to a return in the future.
