I loved the coffee shop and the Dolce Vita restaurant. I didn't care for the musty smelling room, lack of reservations available for non upgraded members, pools were dirty and opaque, a member of our party fell through the grates and my son was bitten by a stray cat on the main plaza. American travelers were largely ignored by service representatives unless a visible tip was shown. The buffet offerings were just this side of all out food poisoning and many items lacked proper handling materials and food safe temperatures were not maintained. We often had to hunt down our own silverware and glasses as well as serving spoons for items like salad dressing. On a positive note the rooms were fairly clean. The coffee shop was our favorite place but I was bothered by being told they would not make several items we attempted to order on the menu, it seemed as if no matter what we ordered at first they often just made whatever they felt like. Also at the steak house when we attempted to book reservations it would only allow for 2 people and our friends were able to book reservations at the same time for 8 people at a time. The waitress at the steak house said she was not willing to serve my husband beer with his meal, he had only had 2 prior to that and was not intoxicated by any stretch. When I attempted to order an after dinner cocktail myself she just said no despite earlier making fun of me during the meal for not drinking, it was very bizarre behavior. Overall we were

We enjoyed our time at Ocean El Faro. The dining options, the pool and all the other amenities were great. I would definitely go back with my family and highly recommend the resort to others!

I loved the food. the staff is friendly and it's easy to walk around.

It was perfect

The closure of all the pools at 18:00 was not good. Too early! The hotel should also have round trip transportation to downtown Punta Cana. Of course a scheduled transportation. Also the drinks were all watered down. Not good at all. We paid nearly 5K for watered down drinks. The facility itself and staff were fantastic!! Especially the staff at the excursions desk and Johanser, who went above and beyond to facilitate our dining requests.

We liked the fact that your property had lots of activities for the kids. Food at all restaurants were really good and the staff service was great!

My husband and I had a blast staying at Ocean El faro. We had the most beautiful room, easy to walk around. The best part is that we stayed in an adults only part. Food is okay, dinner is where you get better food. Sakura was our favorite. Just bring some snacks! We can’t wait to stay again next year.

overall a great time, will visit again!

Property was significantly larger than other resorts. The pools, lazy river and beach front is a must see.

Massive property, great for relaxation and the staff was able to accommodate our food restrictions. However, most staff doesn’t speak English and the property doesn’t offer any non motorized water sports.

Don't bother to stay here! Looks beautiful but they were definitely not accomidating and we were ripped off immensely. I recently stayed here from Aug 4th-7th for a family trip. We were staying in a junior suite with 2 queen beds and pullout couch for our party of 4. We get to the room, it looks great, but we later find out that we have plumbing issues. The shower leaked all over the floor and both sinks were clogged. There were also empty bottles on the floor, no washcloths, no extra linens for the pullout couch, outside light didn't work, hammock chair missing, etc. The next morning, I went to the front desk about the major issues (plumbing) and they said someone will be there to fix it, but I told them it was not fixable. But they insisted to send people over anyway. Long story short, we had to get a different room, which could have been offered the first time. We were promised an additional rollaway bed because the new room only had a king and a pullout couch. Well for two days, we asked for a rollaway bed and they did not bring it EVER! I had to squeeze into a bed with my teenage, almost 6ft sons while they're dad slept on the pullout couch. Extremely uncomfortable! The room also smelled like mildew and caused a lot of congestion for my family. A complaint was made with guest services and they had no empathy and their attitude was rude and uncaring and they didn't even try to compensate us for this terrible stay. They only offered to move our room AGAIN! Don't book!

My stay at the Ocean El Faro hotel left a very negative impression. Firstly, the water in the pools was not clean at all, especially the lazy river and the water park, which immediately put me off from wanting to swim there. Many of the loungers were old, uncomfortable, and broken, making poolside relaxation extremely inconvenient.
The tableware in the dining area was dirty, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this level. The service also left much to be desired: the staff worked slowly, and it was necessary to ask them repeatedly to fulfill their duties. The process of booking restaurants was particularly awful. I had to pay $40 to a service employee to make a reservation because it was impossible to do it myself - by 8 a.m., when the booking process was supposed to happen, there were no more available slots. Absolutely unbelievable!
The room was far from ideal as well - dirt everywhere, and we found stains on the sofa, which was disgusting. During the first week, our housekeeper did a good job, but in the second half of our stay, the room remained uncleaned until 5 p.m. because the housekeeper had been changed, which was also very unpleasant. The beach also left much to be desired and clearly needs improvement.
Overall, my stay at Ocean El Faro***** was extremely unsatisfactory. I have stayed in 3-star hotels that were much better. I do not recommend this hotel and hope that the management takes measures to address all of these shortcomings.

The property was beautiful and clean. Every staff worker was helpful. There were many options for dining. I loved the coffee shop with so many different flavors of coffee drinks and pastries. We enjoyed the lazy river that brought us out to one of the swim up bars. Since we were celebrating our honeymoon, they made it extra special for us with room service that included champagne, rose petals on the bed, and a special romantic dinner by the beach. We had a great time!

Room smells. Air condition malfunction 2 times. Couch bed is second bed in room and uncomfortable. How do they expect to give a robot for four adults with one been a couch bed?

The unprofessionalism expressed by one of the photographers, Ulises, from Photo Pro was something I was not expecting. Not to mention the poor handling of the situation by Stefano-who coordinates the bookings. Horrible customer service provided by these two individuals. When I complained about them I spoke to three different employees from Ocean El Faro...Dariana, Mary and Karina Polanco who told me that Photo Pro was an independent company and not associated with Ocean El Faro. But if that company is in YOUR resort, in YOUR gift shop, then that company also represents you!! And the way Ulises behaved was beyond rude. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!

It started just a couple days after we booked Ocean El Faro when we received our first message from their staff advising they received our reservation and asked if there were any request we had for our trip and if we were celebrating anything in particular. I was able to tell them it was a family trip with 2 rooms, we were celebrating birthdays, and if possible we would like to be as close together as possible. As with any resort I was told they would do their best to accommodate our request, ultimately they were able to get keep us just a few rooms apart.
As the trip got closer I started reading reviews from others on social media and seeing them voice their disappointment about service/food. I knew I upgraded to Privilege and there were perks to doing so, but I was still worried.
Prior to our arrival we received contact from our Butler, Jose Jimenez. He was on top of every request we had and single handedly made our trip as smooth as can be. He personally went out of his way to make our birthday trip AWESOME!
The bartenders at the El Faro pool with the Privilege section, Jhon and Omar were amazing and always provided a high level of service. Restaurants were great as was the service. We never had an issue making dinner reservations through the Jose and the Butler system.
Any trash was from vacationers throwing it down and not respecting the property/employees/DR, which are everywhere. Beach=GOOD (IMO). Lazy River = FUN!
For the price, El Faro can't be beat!

Overall, we had a good experience. The hotel, facilities and pools were fantastic. The beach was fine- very wavy and there is seaweed. This was my first all inclusive experience- and I found the food to be average- but in line with what you would get at an all inclusive. The buffet was very noisy and it was a struggle to find seating and get drinks. We did not have an issue getting reservations for dinners.
The service was average, unless you tip. So bring cash. If you want to use the lazy river bring your own floaties. Also, don’t forget anything because the gift shop is very expensive- ie floaties were $15 usd.

The only reason I did not rate, excellent is because they only serve Pepsi. The only Coke I found was Coke Zero at the pool bar. If you are a Coke girlie like myself, bring your own Coke. And did not like the fact that you had to get up in the mornings to make reservations to the the restaurants. Who wants to be up and in a long line at 7AM to try to get reservations. This still doesn't guarantee as they book fast. The only places you can dine without reservations is the buffet, burger/hotdog spot by pool and coffee shop. Other than these things, WOW! The resort is beautiful, clean, safe and friendly. Loved being outside on our private patio swinging on the egg swing. There were a few cats roaming around the property. I was told they come from the mountains.

Dirty, power kept going on and off, cockroaches in the room, impossible to get a reservation at specialty restaurants and the food is bland and not fresh. Amenities are next to nothing and shows are the same thing nightly. The only positive thing I have to say is about Saona island I booked through the scuba center right by the pool.

Everything was good for my family. Employees were very nice and helpful. As for the restaurants all were very good, only Rout 66 I think it needs to improve their food, the brisket sandwiches were missing flavor -and brisket didn’t tasted any smoke, sauces offered were very good. Our room was very clean. Also Johanser Mazara and Carlos Carter were very good with our reservations for the restaurants.

I would rate my stay at Ocean El Faro 3/5 stars. If you aren’t a privilege member you’ll have trouble booking reservations. You have to go on the app at 8a each morning to try your luck at getting a reservation. We were only able to get 2 reservations for our 5 night stay. You’ll be fighting for reservations with all the other non-privilege members. The resort should not charge for pool table, and air hockey play. You have to buy tokens to use these games. It doesn’t make sense to me, especially if it’s an all-inclusive resort. The bowling alley should be open at earlier times. It gives people a place to go especially if it’s super hot outside. Another thing I didn’t like was there were only 7 floats for the lazy river. There should be a cap or they should provide more. It makes people purchase floats at the gift shop. My family and I stayed in a swim-up pool suite. It was nice, but they need to run the filter or add more water because the water wasn’t going over the ledge to filter water in. We were able to swim in the ocean 1 day due to the seaweed. If there wasn’t so much seawood it would’ve been beautiful! The property is clean and most of the staff were friendly. The premium workers trying to make you take a tour and sit through a presentation were pushy. One even said if we attended the presentation he would give us a reservation to the restaurant which I believe is wrong. Not sure if I would come back and stay at this particular resort.

Ocean El Faro is beautiful. We love the architecture and how the areas were planned, making it easy to navigate the resort.
The rooms are nicely designed and big. We love the swing chair in the balcony.
Food was not excellent, but good.
People are friendly and very accommodating.
Amazing pools. They were big and each had their own pool bar. We LOVE the lazy river. We spent most of our time there.
It would be nice to have more towel huts and more towels. They usually run out of towels and we had to wait or go back over and over for towels.
We went there at end of July to first week of August and it was Sargassum season. Although this is a natural phenomenon, we noticed that only the middle part of the beach was cleaned. It would be nice if the whole stretch was cleaned, especially those close to the area for the premium guests who paid extra.
Overall, I would recommend the resort.

The resort is nice, food was fine and nice pools. We had traveled all day and when we arrived no one explained the dress code for the restaurants . We understand the reason for the rules but wr hadn’t eaten all day and was a long walk from our room and unfortunately we came when the buffet was turning over for dinner, so it was closed. I think The staff who made the presentation upon my arrival could have talked about this. She told us it was only her 4th day so it felt like we were learning about the resort together instead of someone explaining it as we walked to our room. We located the room before she could. Another annoying thing was the attempt to sell the privilege package.

The resort was lovely great place to stay the only thing is that we had to be calling front desk for rags for days and cleaner doesn’t speak English so it was a bit frustrating in that area. Apart from that it was amazing

Walking in the property was like "WOW" this place is beautiful. The property itself is really top notch. However...the level of customer service is not. The "Privilege" customer service lady was really nice and offered us champagne and ice cold towels to cool off. That was nice. Then we met our Butler and he was nice. That is where the good customer service stopped.
The first day or so, I started to get offended a little by the lack of service. If we wanted something at breakfast for instance, we had to wait and wait and wait and once we got it, don't expect seconds unless you raise your hand or go get it yourself. And I am just talking about the coffee at this point. At the pool bars, most of the bartenders were rude if you didn't speak Spanish. It was very hard to get exactly what you wanted if you did not speak Spanish. And don't try to get service on the beach if you are not willing to wait a long time.
It also seems that whoever has access to your room can get in at anytime they want even if the door is dead bolted. The head of security said that it was like that so that if the kids got locked out they could still get in. I call BS on that, but that was their explanation. We had our door opened at 10:30 at night by who they said was someone delivering room service. They did not knock, they just came in and turn on the light. After I responded, they said sorry and left. That was my last straw. At that point I resigned myself to not coming back again.
