Always a great stay-Friendly and welcoming

I booked my room at 2pm and got to it at 315pm. No one works there.
A sign said they send a text message with door code and room #. They did not. Neither email or text. I called the number and a person said checkin was 4pm. He must be new because cleary said 3pm on hotels.com.
He said he would be there at 4pm but eventually decided to remotely open my room which worked fine.
I did get a text around 5pm.
This was a fairly large motel with outside doors for most units but 4 rooms were in an annex with breakfast room. They put everyone in that small section.
My room was directly across from breakfast room.
I had hiked all morning and was exhausted and just wanted a nap.
I slept from 330pm to 5pm when the breakfast room became party central. A bunch of loud people drinking, shouting, and watching TV. This went on from 5pm to 11pm then got quiet but started up again at 4am and went to 530am when they left.
I doubt any of theses people were paying guests. They were probably locals that knew there was not a manager on premises so came gere to party. They probably slept in breakfast room.
I got up at 9am and went to breakfast room to have the continental breakfast. There was no breakfast stuff in fridge. Only beer, hot sauce and other random food. No juice or cold water.
I couldnt eat anything without something cold to drink to just left.

The West Bethel Motel is pitched as a "Smart Motel" which is a fancy way of saying there is no staff on site, check-in is done remotely. They email you your room number and an access code to get in. Unfortunately, we arrived at 3:05 and the email (from Hotels.com) didn't arrive until 3:23. This was annoying, but there may not be a delay if you book directly.
The room was small but very clean, and the exterior and grounds were clean also. The TV was confusing to use and no instructions were provided. The shower was nice and hot and the pressure was fine. The walls were paper thin and we could hear every move from the person next door as well as every vehicle that passed by on Route 2. The fan on the A/C unit was very loud but at least drowned it out. The mattress was uncomfortable and we both woke up with backaches. The pillows were hard and flat. We appreciated the free breakfast which included bagels, coffee, cereal and oatmeal. We also appreciated that we were able to bring our dog with us (which was why we chose this motel.)
Bottom line - too much focus on technology and not enough on basic comforts.

This is a great little place to stay in Bethel. It is a family owned motel in great condition. They were very kind and helpful.

Small room and small bathroom but clean and good for a nights stay. The virtual assistant was a different experience but worked well.

Overall was a good stay, walls seemed thin so could hear people in next room talking, bed wasn't bad, shower was good, saw through the windows they had firepits, chairs, picnic tables in the back available to use. A short ride for food or supplies, rt 2 is busy so can be noisy but not too bad.

It was my first time checking in with a virtual assistant. It actually was very smooth. I appreciated the ease of check in and out. The motel was recently redone inside the rooms. The room was well equipped and had a huge TV.
We enjoyed playing cribbage in the community kitchen during the rain storm. As well as the outside grill area!!
We did not get to use the awesome firepit area, but wanted too!! The kitchen/Breakfast area was an awesome addition.Coffee 24/7 is right up my alley.

A charming little place to stay! The rooms are clean and cozy, and the location of the motel is great - plenty of hiking opportunities nearby and the town center is only 10 mins away.

Clean and simple rooms, comfortable for a one night stay.

Pricing was reasonable, booking was easy, our room was very clean, check-in was easy with the virtual assistant, the room was nice and looked like the flooring had been recently updated, they provided a roll-away bed upon asking and menus for local restaurants, had coffee and bagels included at the annex area for breakfast, and it was great that the motel had its own outdoor games (cornhole and frisbee golf) for guest entertainment, and around back they had firepits and grills for guest use. Was very nice! Only reason i give 4 stars overall is because the bed and pillow was not what I would call comfortable. Otherwise, very nice experience!

I stayed at West Bethel motel on the weekend for working. The room was clean, comfortable bed and quiet. They have everything you need. I loved to have coffee that you can have it 24 hours. I highly recommend this lovely motel for your stay.

We were very very pleased with our stay there! We rented three rooms for next day's eclipse. The rooms were VERY CLEAN and the owner is very thoughtful about the amenities provided. There is a kitchen available to anyone, with real dishware and cookware. It's like your kitchen at home. There is fridge full of eggs and with real half and half. The owner provides enough plastic cups so that someone can grab coffee and go, but really makes an effort to make environmentally friendly choices. The rooms are smaller than with modern motels but we found the space well utilized and comfy. The mattress on our double bed did have a low spot which forced me and my wife together (smiley face here), There was great WIFI too. Highly recommended if you can enjoy an old school motel that has been upgraded with modern TV, wifi etc.

I appreciated how the check-in system was easy and seamless. I was just about skeptical about having my room unlocked and key waiting for me, but it was such a pleasant surprise after a 4 hour drive and feeling hangry. My room was clean, quiet, and perfect for a quick stay.

The room was clean and quiet with apparent recent upgrades, linens were all new and fresh, comfortable pillows, and nice shower. The warm chocolate chip cookies delivered in the evening was a welcome treat. We found it convenient to get to the mountains and we will stay again!

Only disappointment was lingering odor of common cooking kitchen in our corridor. Should be vented better.

Okay place to stay. The bed frame was loose and squeaky. The sheets were old and worn and torn. The motel wasnt worth what we paid for the night.

For an older motel it was in great shape, and the people were fantastic. They did not have breakfast but provided a room with several tables for you to bring something in.
He did provide donuts.
Great place will stay again.

It is a budget motel with minimal resources, if you want breakfast you have to bring your own food and pots and pans to cook on their kitchen stove, good place to stay at, made for hikers.
