What a disappointing experience. The 5 star reviews for this hotel are far from reality.
Considering the room was over £400, I wouldn’t expect most of the bathroom tiles to be loose and cracked which we tripped over time and again.
Now onto dinner… £36 for the highlander beef for the ‘manager’ to not ask us how we want our fillet cooked, to forget the side dishes, to not give us steak knives and to point at us eating our dinner when another guest asks that the highlander beef is!
Then it got even messier when we tried to check out. Whoever prepared the invoices the night before got them completely wrong. Some guests had the correct amount due but the wrong name on the invoice and others had a completely wrong balance to pay. For example, we paid for our dinner on the first night so our balance should be around £250 for half the room costs and the dogs surcharge of £30. However, overnight our bill miraculously racked up to over £600 because a member of staff added someone’s else dinner onto our invoice!
The only thing holding this place together is the blonde lad, I unfortunately didn’t get his name but I believe he was the assistant manager. He was helpful, energetic and attentive throughout.
I had a quick look at the trip advisor reviews before deciding on whether to share my experience and it is evident that the owner is unwilling to open his ears to concerned guests and take on their comments on how the hotel could improve.

Brilliant staff, food and comfortable room. No negatives.

After a long days driving we finally reached this hotel which is very isolated .. our Accomodation was okay but the food was not great in the restaurant with limited non seafood/fish options. The manager did allow us eventually to order from the bar menu but it wasn’t great. Service was so slow for breakfast and again not the best we had … can only assume they were short staffed but breakfast wasn’t set up for 08:00 which was already later than anywhere else we were staying … overall not the best but just okay.

Beautiful small hotel.
We stayed with 2 dogs.
Consequently we were allowed in bar but not restsurant/hotel lounge. It would be good to make it clear that dogs not allowed in lounge.

The hotel is situated in an outstanding area of natural beauty with glorious views out to the summer islands. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The dinner was excellent and breakfast was also of a very high standard.

Excellent comfy and friendly hotel. Service excellent. The hotel itself is a little tired. It is closing a the end of the season for two years major refurbishment. I do hope they don’t alter the ambience or try to cater for the.masses. The people who stay there as it islquiet, a bit old fashioned and serves an excellent fresh local food. Thank goodness it’s not like a gastro pub with rooms! The views are magnificent even in the rain. Lovely walks and a few mountains to climb.

Over the last two decades or so I have made three visits, I believe each was under different owners, certainly different chefs, however the experience has remained top notch each time.
The welcome is great and after usually a long journey the obvious luxury is welcome too, whether it’s relaxing into the deep sofas in the resident’s lounge or catching a cheeky 40 winks on a very comfortable bed.
A twin room this time under a turf roof and there was nothing not too like. A huge bathroom too! The peace of the Summer Isles Hotel is great!
Dinner was, as expected delicious and the fish always a treat. Similarly they do a great breakfast menu and they can provide marmite so toast is complete!
The staff are brilliant, friendly, professional, helpful and strike just the right tone. I always wish I had more time to spend here, soon I trust I’ll be back.

Very nice, quiet hotel

Wonderful location with beautiful views out to sea. Hotel accommodation very comfortable, and expensive, but quality in everything they do.
Dinner was exceptional with seafood to die for!! The Langoustines are huge and the oysters just wonderful.
Next time we stay for longer.

This is the most luxurious hotel in a magical setting. I would live here if I could. The whole experience was just perfect. Loved it

Very clean and excellent cuisine

Wonderful, secluded hotel in the NW Coast of Scotland with incredible views from you window. Staff was focused on ensuring we had a wonderful stay. Dinner was one of the best of our stay and reasonable priced. Breakfast is included with the room and was made to order unlike the buffets at other hotels. The hotel is older which is part of its charm. Hard to get too but worth the drive. One of our favorite places to stay in Scotland.

Excellent location and very good food. Good staff.

Property was remote, quiet,idyllic views.

We we're very well taken care of by all the staff. Very nice and tasty meals! The hotel is definitely worth a stay although the road there could be a lot better. We visited nearby Ullapool where we enjoyed a boat trip with Shearwater Cruises and saw seals, harbour porpoises, white tailed eagles and gannets amongst other things.

The Summer Isles Hotel was a wonderful experience.
We were given the Chaplin room dedicated and styled in black and white to honour Charlie Chaplin. The atmosphere which was thereby created was superb.
The almost 45 minute drive from Ullapool along a single track road was worth it for the tranquillity, quality of the hotel and beauty of the area.
The staff throughout were excellent with particular appreciation of the helpfulness of Alex and Rachel. The restaurant chefs also did a great job with locally sourced ingredients.
One day we would love to return.

The hotel is somewhat difficult to get to, since it's on a single-track winding road. A nice place to stay once you get there. The restaurant food was good, although the menu is not very extensive.

Very remote and gorgeous area for hiking. You are really in the Highlands

Beautiful and Great staff!

What an absolute gem of a property. The best word I can use to describe it is “thoughtful”. Right as soon as we stepped in the front door, all of the staff were super friendly and welcoming.
My wife and I stayed in the Chaplin room which was wonderfully decorated with Charlie Chaplin themed decor and had several books and even a DVD. The room was well appointed with an extremely comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom with a great big bathtub.
Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic. The hake and venison were delicious and dessert equally so. The view from the restaurant and bar was *phenomenal*. Breakfast was just as good also and the option to buy a takeaway lunch for our travels was so helpful as we had a busy day planned with a lot of driving.
My only regret is that we only spent the one night! If we ever visit the area again we will be certain to spend at least a few nights. Thank you to the staff for making our visit so pleasant.

Wouldnt hesitate to go back.

The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. Alex, Rosa, Paul, Rachel and Harriet are all pros in every sense of the word. It is the backbone of every wee hotel, especially when you are somewhere very very country

The proximity to the beach was great!
4.5
The hotel was very pleasant, the service was excellent, the staff were outstanding -- efficient, friendly and helpful. The rooms were too small for comfort with no sitting space. The hotel was in a nice isolated location but much too far from Ullapool which we'd have liked to be closer to. Overall it was a good experience to be had.

Wonderful place, wonderful staff, especially Paul who gave us some guidance on where to go and where to walk. Everything he recommended was amazing. All the staff and the services were flawless and the location was out of this world.

Love the location of the property. Excellent food on our first night and good on our second. We were rather cold overnight as one of the windows would not close. Staff were all friendly and helpful

Wonderful tranquillity and delightful staff

The hotel and location were delightful, food was delicious and the staff courteous and friendly. We would recommend it.

Views were stunning and hotel easy to find. Room was spacious and luxurious with all we needed. Lovely restaurant and really helpful staff. Food was amazing with attention to detail. Yes portions are small would recommend adding potatoes but we prefer smaller portions. Breakfast was great. All in all a very special experience.

Great location, fantastic front of house and lovely bathroom. The food bit over priced for what it is, but such a stunning location you don't mind. Staff bit inexperienced but nice with it, the head of front of house a delight!

Huge disappointment. Family cabin for price per night of £376 should have been spotless. It was not.. Food on floor from previous guests, old cobwebs and dead insects on windows, blind pulleys were nearly all broken, two out of the four mugs provided had chips around the top, smeared and dirty windows, grass so overgrown at rear that it was growing under the kitchen door. Minor niggles but at that price there should be none. They also all seem scared to death of the chef. We were told that although breakfast was officially until 9.30am to not get there after 9.15am as it annoyed the chef as he liked to start getting ready for lunch. Chef also refused to serve us an item off the bar menu in his very pretentious and seriously overpriced restaurant.(and the food was nothing to write home about). The second night we went to the nearby An Furran pub to eat. MUCH better atmosphere and food. Stayed here as part of a trip on NC 500 and this was the worst experience we had. Look elsewhere. You will find much better value..

My husband and I, stayed for 1 night. The views from the Hotel are absolutely stunning. The room was beautifully decorated, with a very comfortable extra large KS bed. The staff were all very friendly and the meal was lovely. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Amazing location, garvie suite was stunning and we got the weather which made it even better
4.5
Lovely property and beautiful place to stay. There are certainly some issues with the restaurant service and quality of of food not up to expected standards

We had a 2 night stay on the opening nights after lockdown. We were upgraded as they had to move our booking and had a lovely view to the sea. Unfortunately there were a lot of issues with inexperienced staff and a degree of chaos in the dining room and that marred our stay. The owner kindly discounted our bill but I hope they can iron out the problems as many clients were dissatisfied
