The view was fantastic. The restaurant food was good. The room was beautiful.
4.7
Great service, great staff is my second time staying in this hotel and probably will come back
4.7
Totally unique. The beautiful rooms with private terraces and spectacular views are something special.
4.7
No hot water for how much they charge. Adjacent properties are much cheaper and significantly more comfortable. Couldn’t wait to leave!
4.7
The hotel/pool area were really nice and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations or seeking information for us. The food and drinks were great too. I would definitely come back. The only downside were the stairs to get to zipolite beach.

Villa Aikido is a great place. Beautiful apartments with well laid out balconies that offer amazing view of the ocean. The rooms are very comfortable, stylish and spacious. The restaurant offered a solid selection of food. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
There are two beach coves below the hotel with only hotel access that were a gem. It seemed that we had these tow beaches to ourselves.
There is also a short cut to get to the main part of Zipolite. Very helpful information. The first day we walked the long way.
We chose this place because of it being clothing-optional, but no one was nude, except our party of three. That was a bit disappointing. But visiting other nude friendly hotels, it was the same. I was told that it's because that the summer is not peak season.
I definitely recommend this place. Beautiful!

Great place to stay!

Great views, AC, Nice pool, and wonderfull staff. Thus property sits atop a hill overlooking the pacific so you can watch the whales go by. The walk to town is tough though especially if you're older. The water pressure was low and the bidet didn't work. There is no TV which was fine with us. Internet was hit and miss.
4.7
The property was beautiful and well appointed. The room was very nice but the bathroom didn’t offer much privacy - transparent glass door (some privacy paint blocks) that didn’t even close all the way. The restaurant and the view is very nice, however it does close relatively early in the evening. We were there on a Friday evening and we were alone at the restaurant surprisingly. We barely heard a soul after 8 pm. So the place is very quiet if that’s your thing but we found it very boring. It has its own private beach but it’s not very nice since there were a bunch of tiny crabs. It’s too far from Zipolite beach for a quick walk or bar visit, you have to pack for a day trip, which we did, but then we’re worried about watching our belongings like a hawk when we went in the water. We ended up finding another hotel on Zipolite beach that was more our speed. A lot of night life on the beach which you don’t find near this hotel. Good for a family or business trip or quiet couple, but I think most couples would enjoy staying right in Zipolite.

Excellent service and everything was great. Rooms were clean and beds were really comfortable, would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone looking for a five star stay in an area where some hotels could be a hit or miss.
The pool and common areas were clean and maintained. Also the dining area was a great place to meet some of the other guests and spend a nice evening with everyone.
4.7
Beautiful location, great staff, but the hotel is looking old and in need of some maintenance.
4.7
Very quiet area about a 10 minute walk from downtown/main beach. Bring your snorkeling gear as many tours stop in bay in front of the hotel where you can walk in. Rooms are beautiful and view is stunning. The owners were onsite and made sure everyone was satisfied.
4.7
This is an awesome boutique hotel with amazing views, rooms and staff. Best place to relax and get away from the fast paced city life.
4.7
Great place to stay if you are going to Zipolite. It’s further away from the other hotels on the beach so you’ll have to walk a bit but it’s a very enjoyable walk. No bad view from any of the rooms which are cleaned daily. The best part without a doubt is the staff, they make you feel like you’re staying with family. Small food menu but Alma is an excellent cook and is super accommodating. Overall great experience and would definitely stay here again.
4.7
The property is just great, the rooms are spacious and so comfortable. The pool area is so relaxing and Alma at the bar is very attentive. Only downside is the area just survived a hurricane so there’s a lot of reconstruction happening in the property itself and areas around, which can be a problem because of the noise and appearance of certain areas. Keep in mind that this property is not on a main road so you will need transportation to get around and it can be difficult to get a taxi at times. Other than that the place is a good option.

Overall 6.5/10.
Location to town, views, private beach access 10/10.
Air conditioning, shower, toilet 9/10.
Staff friendliness and professionalism 7.5/10.
Noise 7/10.
Food menu 6/10, chef and food preparation 9/10.
Internet connection 4/10.
Decoration and art 4/10
Outdoor spaces, pool 3/10.
Stay was good overall. Loved the views and the peace away from town, but also so close. The biggest thing that bugged me was the internet was terrible.
The other thing that felt discordant was the decor. The hotel suffers from an identity crisis with respect to its colors and decorations. There's a difference between being colorful, and using every single color that you can find. The latter leads to creating a chaotic visual experience, which is counter to the goals of the hotel.
There are so many cultural referents with contemporary Mexican sculptures, geometric sculptures, Buddha statues, Mexican folk art-- it's too busy thematically. Less is more. It feels like a sculpture graveyard.
Another thing I mention as a landscape designer, from an aesthetic and practical perspective. Their pool has a major design flaw. The pool is covered in small square waterline tiles, unfortunately the pool also has curved edges, which means that these tiles are popping off everywhere. Honestly, I'd recommend they redo the entire pool lining because the repairs look bad. This is the centerpiece of the main terrace so it could be costly.

Room with incredible view and deck overlooking the ocean. Dining a bit limited, food was ok but tablecloths were not changed between customers so a bit dirty.

Wifi was not working, toilet flush sometimes. The hammock was hanging too low. However the room was nice and quiet. For the price would expect much better services and conditions.

I've stayed at Villa Aikia a couple times over the last few months and every time I check-in it takes me about a half hour to get used to how spectacular the view is. It's just...a lot. There's a little semi-private beach below, a giant outcropping of rock guarded by a flock of birds just slightly offshore, cobalt blue waves lapping the beach, and just so much more beauty than you can reasonably expect at once. You might need to take a break afterward. It's the sort of image you put on a postcard -- the sort of thing that makes you wonder what good things you did in a past life to end up here.
Setting the view aside, though, this place would be excellent even if that view were instead a blank concrete wall. There are a couple lovely semi-shaded pools, a wonderful little hotel bar, a yoga studio, and your room also has hot water in its shower (which is, if you're not familiar with the area, not common).
There's only one downside that I can think of: it's a little bit of an uphill hike from town. It's nothing strenuous or far -- just a five or ten minute walk from the main street -- but it's definitely not right on the main beach like many of the other hotels and hostels. That being said: that little bit of distance gives you a level of privacy and serenity that you won't find in the more crowded areas. That's a trade-off that's definitely worth it in my book.

Had issue with check-in as they didn’t seem to have the same pricing details as my Expedia email confirmation; however, they honoured Expedia rate so no complaints. Staff is pleasant and it’s a very relaxing atmosphere. Ask for a room higher up so that you can enjoy the ocean breezes and views! Internet is poor via WIFI or cellular data so be forewarned if you need to get work done.

My friend and I stayed at Villa Aikia in November 2021. What a beautiful place! The design is well thought out, from the room, common spaces, yoga area and private little beach, all the details were perfect.
The ocean is very present with stunning views from all over the property. Interesting art fills every space. The views and sea breeze in the yoga area made it an ideal spot to start the morning. The small beach can be accessed by taking the stone steps that lead down from the property. The room was spacious, modern and clean, with comfortable beds and a big balcony.
The food was delicious and fresh, we had great breakfasts and lunches. The staff was friendly and Christina was very helpful with arranging taxi’s and our COVID tests, which were conveniently done at the property.
Zipolite is a short walk from the hotel. The easy access to town was convenient for exploring and going for dinner in the evenings.

An incredible beach hideaway with magnificent views and facilities. The rooms are dreamy and the vibe is super chilled. Deborah was the perfect host and could not have made me feel more welcome. Made a bunch of new friends there too. All in all an excellent stay

The hotel is great, in every possible way, except for location, specially how to arrive and how to get to the beach. If you are carrying suitcases and the taxi doesn't know how to get to the entrance, you'll have to walk a good amount of stairs and some uneven roads. The rest was great.

Villa Aikia is conveniently located between Mazunte and Zipolite with amazing views of the ocean and Roca Blanca and private access to Playa Camarón
Everyone there was very friendly and accommodating
Would definitely stay again

Rooms are amazing - modern, clean, spacious and stylish. We got a room with private balcony that had a hammock and 2 chairs. The view to the ocean was great too - we could actually see the ocean from our bed! But it seems like not all the rooms get the same view. They have a private beach but very rocky so not really good for tanning or getting in the water. Pool was great too - although not too big. Some of the pool area furniture is a bit random - some plastic chairs, some plastic tables in random colors/styles/sizes. If they straighten that out and achieve a more cohesive look like the rooms, it would be great. Other than that, the service was great, food was pretty good too, and pretty quiet! I stayed for 2 days, and wasn’t ready to leave.

This space provides breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. We had an amazing experience practicing yoga in their beautiful covered deck complete with Ganesha statue. The staff is very helpful and kind. We enjoyed our time there so much, we are going back this weekend :) Access to an epic cove, delicious restaurant and lovely pool space. Highly recommend staying if you are in the Muzente, Zipolite region.

Easily one of the best hotels I have stayed at in all of Mexico. Amenities are great, view is perfect, and all staff went above and beyond to make it the amazing stay that it was, will definitely be staying here again. Also, on site restaurant was very delicious and priced well too.

The property was amazing, but mis-managed, food marginal (only had breakfast, opted nit to eat anything else), wi-fi usable (I get we are in Mexico but I’ve traveled and live here, this was the worst), no services.
It’s Covid, but still...

Great place, Beautiful view, great food, and Deborah was great and helped with everything we needed!

We stayed at Villa Aikia (seems to be a misspelling in the name on Expedia) during the first week of March, 2020. The hotel is incredibly clean and well maintained. The view from our room was stunning and everything in the room was just perfect. We did have use of a car during our time in Zipolite, which made hiking back and forth to Playa del Amor considerably easier, but wasn't necessary. I highly recommend staying here and will do so again when I return.

We had a wonderful experience. The location was perfect. The hotel is a gem, probably one of the best beds we have ever slept on in a hotel. The owners and managers were lovely and made us feel at home.
