Brief overnight stay only, having stayed here nearly a year before on our travels, suited our purposes.to return.
Room nbr1 was clean and tidy, good facilities,is obviously a popular place on both stays-January and December -as dining and bar areas full.
Room was on front next to main road, earplugs provided if needed due to traffic, previous stay was quieter in carpark area accommodation
Easy access from M4

We booked multiple rooms for our company weekend, enjoying the races and staying at the wonderful Hare & Hounds. We will be returning next year!

The food and service not quite there yet.

It was a lovely stay at the Hare and hounds. The room was very cosy and the bed was super comfortable along with the amazing bedding. Great breakfast in a beautiful place

Cant fault anything, everything from check-in to the room, the food and the service is first class.

Great hotel with lovely people.
Seems they are starting to cut costs. No complimentary sparkling water in the room like there used to be, toiletries can no longer be taken home and food portion sizes have gone down in size but pricing has gone up.
2.5
The most amazing hotel that we have stayed in

Lovely hotel, very relaxed atmosphere and vert attentive staff

Room was ridiculously noisy with the windows open and it was far too hot with them shut. They should have a air con unit in the room rather than just a normal fan.
Room wasn't serviced even though I put the thing on the door to indicate that I wanted it cleaning but it was ignored.
4.0
The added extras like complementary sloe gin, earplugs & joss sticks. However it was extremely hot but if we’d opened the window it would have been too noisy.

Very good location, clean and well appointed rooms. My only suggestion is change the kitchen service call bell. Eating in the restaurant is like dining in a hospital ICU !!!!

Beautifully maintained and appointed property. Very comfortable and clean with everything high quality.

Lovely accommodation and welcoming staff
Arrived 18:30 to find Sunday food serving was finished however staff asked chef if he can do me something to eat which he did and was lovely food.
Few things I question- I stood at bar to order drinks and food and service charge added on automatically without me realising I prefer to tip afterwards if appropriate then ordered again at bar dessert again service charge added on which I questioned this time and asked for it to be removed which it was however it should not be there automatically!!
Room cleanliness overall good but small windows room was hot and no fan leaving windows open right next to seating area and smoking area isn’t great so at least get a fan in the room
The shower tiles lower down lots of mould get your cleaning staff actually cleaning the tiles lower down as slimy mould can be remover with a bit of elbow grease
On entering room it smelt damp
However this did not affect my stay and would stay again if the above notes were improved this could be 5*****
Very accommodating staff

Absolutely lovely night at this hotel. Rooms are lovely and clean and very well furnished. We was returning from the aisle of Wight festival and they kindly let us check in very easily and early. Food was also amazing. We will definitely be returning.

Room was excellent very clean and everything you need. Arrived late 11pm and met by friendly team great welcome. Breakfast was not the best and let the stay down overall. The smashed avocado on toast was like a thin spread on the toast. The streaky bacon was very fatty and should’ve been much crispier. The best part of breakfast was the scrambled egg which was really good.

Beautiful accommodation and surrounding area however we did not sleep a wink the one night we stayed. We had an early start due to travelling down to visit a family member in hospital. We felt misled due to where the rooms were situated (directly in front of the beer garden)
This was occupied even after the garden ‘closed’ predominately by staff members who had clocked off but were incredibly loud and smoking right outside of our window.
At breakfast we had to keep asking for someone to come outside and take our order, my partner and I felt judged and as if we were not welcome. I would make clear to anyone booking that this site is not LGBTQ friendly and to be mindful that the rooms are directly adjacent to the beer garden. We were disturbed up until around 2 am. I expressed my grievances in a polite and friendly manner, however the staff were dismissive and did not take our concerns seriously. I would not stay again and wish for someone to reach out regarding this as I made a complaint, to which no one has contacted me about.

Excellent service from start to finish. Food and room good. Made to feel really welcome.

Absolutely beautiful and characterful accommodation, very warm and thoughtful welcome from the second the booking made and the food was phenomenal!

Our whole stay was marred by the total lack of privacy for the en suite facilities. It had an extremely ill-fitting sliding glass door which meant you were forced to see hear and yes I am afraid smell everything that your partner was doing. About the most unromantic experience I can think of. Basically for the level of privacy the toilet might as well have been next to the bed. The door performed none of the functions normally associated with a door.

Lovely room but restaurant service is slow. Lots of time when there was no one in the restaurant.
At breakfast we sat down on our own accord as there was no one around, after what seemed like a long time, I got us the menus and eventually someone came to take the order.
They need more staff and better trained staff.

Extremely well appointed bedroom and bathroom , very very comfortable. Friendly helpful check in and check out and an a la carte breakfast . Way above what i expected and excellent value for money.

We stayed for one night to break up a long journey. This is an absolutely fabulous hotel, couldn't believe how good it was when we arrived. Extremely good value for money, we stayed B&B. Room was beautiful and very well equipped and the breakfast very good. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was first class, with a good choice of courses. Service exceptional.
Would definitely recommend.

This was such a stunning property. The room, bar, resturant were all so lovely. Especially so close to Christmas with all the Christmas trees! Tea and coffee in the room, a free bit of gin too.
The staff in the resturant were beyond lovely and the food was Devine. As was the breakfast that was included. Stunning. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough.
I won’t lie, I was slightly kept awake by the people in the room above walking around until the late hours of the night and I could hear them talking however everything else was so perfect so I can’t complain. Oh and the parking was free and easy!! Plenty of spaces.
10/10 recommend and can’t wait to return.

I am delighted to give the highest possible review to Hare & Hounds. Before we arrived, we received an email asking us questions in order to give us personalized service. Our room was small but cozy, and well-equipped. The food was also very high-quality.
