Bodorgan
A countryside location with pleasant and relaxing views across rural farmland, Bodorgan is an historic village in southwest Anglesey, just 3 miles from the nearest beach and a 4-minute drive to the larger village of Malltraeth. Bodorgan is small but has a great corner shop selling lots of fresh produce and cupboard essentials.

Aberffraw beach is a 5-minute drive, with the popular resort of Rhosneigr and its lovely beach reached in 10 minutes – great for swimming, kite surfing, paddle-boarding or just more eating! There is an RSPB nature reserve in Newborough Forest around 4 miles southeast of Bodorgan. Newborough offers plenty of walks, birdwatching and relaxation, extended by the adjoining long sandy beaches.

The Bodorgan Inn offers unique travel access with the village’s Grade II listed railway station located directly opposite. Local trains cross the Anglesey island line with onward connections to Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and beyond.

Whilst the house is in a semi-rural setting, we expect guests to be respectful and considerate to the neighbours.

The whole property and gardens

Your very own private pub!

Located directly opposite Bodorgan railway station, this historic former public house has been stunningly converted with the aim to restore its past traditions, atmosphere and hospitality. Set in an acre of mature gardens and grounds, the Bodorgan Inn can host up to 24 guests across 10 bedrooms on the three upper floors.

But far more is on offer! The property also provides a fully equipped bar-room, games room, large kitchen and dining area, outdoor BBQ, hot tub and patio. Without doubt one of the most original holiday accommodation settings for family get to togethers or business retreats on the island of Anglesey.

Sensitively restored by Birch Stays during 2022, this well-planned, design-led renovation pays homage to the property’s history and legacy as a once noted and popular village hostelry. All rooms and spaces have been lovingly revived, with the refit of the original public bar.

Features
Through the original entrance to the pub, you are welcomed into the spacious lobby backed by a grand staircase as befitting these 160 year-old premises. Go up to the first floor and you reach the main entertaining spaces. Each side of the communal access foyer is lined with the original woodwork panels and oak doors, opening on one side into the formal dining room which can be set for up to 24 guests. Opposite the dining room is the lovingly restored original bar-room offering a fully functioning pub-style bar. This special space has in-built window bench seating, bar stools, working beer pumps, drinks fridges, log burner, and Sky TV including Sky Sports so that you can become your own publican during your stay!

Downstairs, just off the entrance lobby area, there is an adjoining WC/shower facility, allowing a wash-up after returning from a busy day of holiday activities. Across the lobby past a comfortable reading nook space, you enter the fully modernised kitchen with its breakfast diner. The kitchen is equipped with a Rangemaster oven, a double oven, two dishwashers, double Belfast sink, two fridge freezers and a wine cooler.

Off the quartz-topped kitchen island is a breakfast table with seating for 12 guests. The kitchen’s full height sliding door enables direct access to the external decking area that runs the length of the building, and is equipped with an outdoor BBQ kitchen and hot tub.

Beyond the outdoor kitchen lies an acre of mature grounds that provide ample private parking, a lawned area perfect for kids to play, with a supply of outdoor games to suit all guests.

Sleeping Spaces
The communal area on the 2nd floor has been redesigned to provide an open well-lit space with a feature chandelier. Each of the seven bedrooms on this floor have been simply styled, using a restrained palette of materials and tones allowing the original character of the building to flow through. Two of these bedrooms are en-suites while a further two family bathrooms serve the remaining bedrooms. With the scale of the master bedrooms, additional sofa beds and cots can be provided to suit larger family stays.

Into the attic which formed the former publicans’ living quarters, there are three comfortable bedrooms with commanding views across the surrounding countryside via their velux windows. The loft space also houses a family bathroom, a study/office space and communal lounge.

We stayed here for a stag weekend. The property is in a great location to access North Wales! The building is amazing, it is like visiting a pub without the hassle of a real pub. We were a large group and all chatting in the pub made it sound and feel like a real pub. The kitchen is large and well equipped and the bedrooms are spacious comfortable. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms for a large group of people. There is also plenty of parking and a large garden with a BBQ and hot tub. I would definitely stay here again!
