My stay at Zakia’s riad was great. After Tangier, Chefchaouen, and Meknes,
the town of Moulay Idriss was a wonderful break. The town was small and everyone was very friendly. A neighbor invited me to see him bake bread in a oven that has probably been used for thousands of years. The donkeys transport the produce and goods along the cobblestone streets. My tour of Volubilis was great. I got a guide to walk me around (at the site) and I’m glad I did. it’s an amazing place. One of the benefits of staying with Zikia is that you could go to Volubilis either early or late in the day and miss the bus crowds tha come in from Meknes and Fed. it made it a much better experience for me. Zakia is such a warm and wonderful host. She lives in Fez and came all the way to Mouley Idress (over an hour’s drive) because I had booked the room. She was me the amazing top floor with an amazing view of the mountains. You would feel like royalty in the room. Her breakfast was great for a small charge - a true Moroccan feast. I would highly recommend making a stay with Zakia a part of your trip to Morocco.

Our amazingly warm and generous hostess upgraded us to a beautiful, airy suite with a view over the valley—our nicest room in all of Morocco, full of fascinating antiques and very homey. An incredible bargain
no complaints.

The people and welcome were lovely.
The home cooked evening meal was excellent.
The view from the terrace was beautiful.
Overall a great place to stay.
We would have loved to stay longer if the weather had not been so unseasonably hot.
All was good.
People should be aware it is a traditional house with lots of steep stairs. All part of the experience.

I arrived at lala zakia about 2pm as agreed. I rung the bell repeatedly but no answer, I returned later at half hour intervals and still nothing. I phoned the number on the wall and no answer, at this point I gave up and went elsewhere.. I returned the following day and still nothing, a neighbour explained to me that she only opens the guesthouse when she has a guest. I’ve since discovered that money for my stay has been deducted from my bank, I have complained to Bookings . com but so far I’ve had no reply. if you are reading this Bookings. com perhaps you would like to reply to me..

Amazing location near the heart of the village with beautiful views of the mountains. Meeting Zakia is worth the visit to this lovely town. From the moment we arrived, Zakia welcomed us like family. She shared her courageous and passionate journey to open the town to foreign visitors and champion progress for rural women.
She is a most incredible person. The home/hotel is thoughtfully decorated and somewhat museum-like with many traditional Moroccan antiques. We were very comfortable. So glad we chose to stay here.

An authentic house full of antique furniture and stuff. A nice breakfast served by smiling staff. A fantastic view of the mountains. Zakia is a professional guide leading tourists in the area. She is hosting guests in her family's house. A very positive business woman with passion to help. We enjoyed staying at her place. All the best to her.
It is not easy to find the house. Please ask in advance to find the house and a parking lot for your car.

The host is absolutely wonderful. Location is great… Nice views from the terrace…

Staying with Zakia felt like staying with a local friend or family! She was the most kind and welcoming person. We didn’t speak the same language but that didn’t matter the slightest, we could always make ourselves understood with a little help of google.
If you want to experience how locals really live in Morocco, this is the perfect opportunity. The creative traditional interior design by itself is an experience worth taking. We were also served wonderful breakfast and our additional requests were fulfilled without any extra charge.

the property owner Alami was wonderfully welcoming and hospitable going out of his way to make breakfast. Also a great resource for local attractions. overall extremely satisfied. thank you Alami.

I've been to many accommodations and this is one of the best ones I've been to!
Starting with the location, central and right next to the mausoleum and also walking distance from the taxi drop-off. While being central, the area is also very very quiet and I felt safe walking alone in the evening. At night it's silent even with the windows open.
The main square is less than 5 minutes away, and you can find convenience stores, restaurants and cafes. It gets filled with children playing in the evening and adults, a nice way to see everyday moroccan life.
The breakfast includes the best moroccan pancake I've had so far, harsha, a different pastry every day and olives, dates, cheese and oil.
I got an upgraded room, with a little living room almost and what I loved the most about it was that I had windows! which is rare to find in old medinas. The whole riad is very bright, with windows and has a terrace where you can enjoy a beatiful view over the mountain and Moulay Idriss.
What makes this place wonderful though, is Zakia, who's a wonderful host and guide, and her cousin Alami. Zakia took me to Volubilis, walked me around Moulay Idriss, took me to Hammam, we did Henna together and made me experience the real Morocco. She knows a lot not only of Moulay Idriss and Fes, but also the rest of Morocco.
You'll feel at home at Riad Lalla Zakia.
That I had to leave!

We stayed with Zakia for just one night. She picked us up from the Taxi Station and brought us to her place. There we got some welcome tea and later on the best Tajine we had so far! It was made from organic veggies from Moulay Idriss. Zakia even upgraded our room to a much bigger one than the one we had booked. Her whole house is very beautiful and has lots of sweet details, plus the view from her balcony is amazing!
Thank you so much for the warm hospitality! <3
