About this cottage rental
Lovely, secluded 700 sq foot carriage house w/private entrance in tranquil setting welcomes you—and your pet (no fee for 2)! Bubbling fountain, vegetable and flower gardens, and a place to cookout in fenced yard. Home-away-from-home has every amenity, including queen-sized bed with a thick mattress, down quilts, luxurious pillows, kitchen, washer-dryer and spa shower/bathroom. Spacious, and even more so with Murphy bed up. Two car enclosed garage. WIFI and every streaming service available.
Note that this carriage house has been extensively reviewed with more than 100 reviews on Airbnb, where I am a superhost with a near 5.0 rating—best rating in Cincinnati! Check out the reviews: tinyurl.com/w3cvdbha
The carriage house is fronted by an enclosed garden that springs to life each March. Bubbling fountain and vegetable patch. The carriage house has been entirely renovated with wood-beam 11-foot ceiling, lovely exposed brick walls, spa bathroom and new kitchen. Fold up queen-sized Murphy bed (it's really thick and comfortable with down pillows and quilt) means you have a large daily living space.
Like the 1880s classic Cincinnati mansion that it sits behind, the main house and separate carriage house are a preservationist dream. The property is on quiet, shady "Millionaire's Row" in the Dayton St. Historic District. 3 minute drive/15 minute walk from historic Findlay Market with its indoor and outdoor food stands and restaurants. Dozens of restaurants and boutique shopping are within minutes in Over-the-Rhine. 5 minutes to the opera, symphony, Shakespeare Theatre and Washington Park, which has outdoor events almost every day and a great pet park — and has underground parking making it very accessible. Theatre is minutes away. 10 minutes to Kroger grocery store and downtown where the baseball and football stadiums are located. New soccer stadium is 5 minutes away by car, 15 minute walk.
Guest access: You enter the house via a private locked gate to the side of main house front entrance ... path takes you through the tranquil back yard to the carriage house door. There is also a separate entrance via the 2-car garage in the back underneath the carriage house (accessible via an alley street behind the main house)...up a few stairs into the garden and to your secure, private entrance door.
Animal limit: 2 pets, with no pet fee charge! No pet supplies provided, so bring what you need to attend to them. Would consider additional pet/s for a negotiated fee.
Early arrival or late checkout: If you desire an early check in (as early as noon) or late check out (as late as 4p), just let me know and we will make it happen if there are no conflicts.

Jon was by far the friendliest property owner I’ve met on any stay anywhere. One can tell how much pride he takes in his place and making sure guests are happy.

Immaculate large, studio sized room with fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, washer dryer and one of the prettiest gardens I have ever seen.
Jon was very accommodating of our Boston Terrier. The neighborhood is definitely “in transition” so I probably wouldn’t wander around at night but we felt perfectly safe there. All in all a great stay with lots of convenient restaurants, museums and the Reds Great American Ballpark.

The property was perfect. Everything was well-kept and access to the house was easy and secure. The garden area was beautiful.
Jon was very communicative leading into the stay. Luckily, we were able to meet him before leaving.
We didn't mind walking to the connector to get downtown and we easily rented scooters to go further distances.
The stay in Cincinnati went well and a major portion of that was the security and ease of Jon's carriage house.
Highly recommended.

I needed to get away and relax for a few days and this was the perfect place to do that! Absolutely charming, clean and a beautiful garden. I will be back next time the need for a little getaway is necessary.

This home is a well done , comfortable carriage house behind the owner's home. It is nicely done for a huge one room area- a nice size kitchen, a wonderful shower, a comfy bed and a comfortable roomy living space. The owner was very responsive to messages and has obviously put a lot of thought and care into his VRBO rental. The street has some very nice homes that have been redone or are being renovated. I attended a conference literally right around the corner and felt safe to walk to and from but not alone as a female. It is not an area I would take a walk in myself so I would caution renters to consider the area. I love to walk and felt a bit stifled in that regard.

Perfect spot for a weekend getaway but also has everything you would need for a longer visit! At first glance the neighborhood looked less than ideal, however, once we checked in and got a feel for the area, we felt safe and were surprised at how quiet it was. Jon was a great host and answered any questions within minutes. Will definitely be back!

We traveled to Cincinnati to visit our son at the University of Cincinnati. We wanted to stay close without paying the outrageous hotel prices or travel from further out for cheaper hotel rooms. The drive was less than 10 minutes from campus. The rental was perfect for what we were looking for in our visit. We plan to use this place for our future stays.

Upon arriving to the property we were greeted by a relaxing and tranquil garden that was even more beautiful than the photos in the listing reflect. The on-street parking was easy, safe and well lit.
The carriage house offered comfort, cleanliness and all the amenities of home. Our 2 dogs loved being able to stretch their legs by roaming free within the fenced in garden area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cincinnati and this property gave us the perfect location to rest and refresh. Its close proximity to downtown allowed for a short drive (or Uber ride) to anywhere we wanted to go. Delicious food options, outdoor parks with walking trails and historical things to see/do are all moments away from this property.
All communications with Jon were seamless and prompt.
We definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to visit the area.

The house was the perfext spot to get to UC campus and all we wanted to see and do. Lovely yard and the place was the perfect size for all we needed.

We were very pleased with the location and carriage home. The bed was comfy and the shower pressure was amazing! We walked to Findlay Market almost daily and walked from the river back home from a Reds game. The full size gas stove was great for preparing breakfast and the fridge was just large enough to stock everything we needed for a week.
The garden was beautiful and we felt like we had plenty of privacy. Jon let us use the garage for our huge lifted Jeep and it fit just fine.
We normally use Uber, but Jon recommended Lift and that was a better choice for Cincy.
Overall, we’d love to stay here again!

We are blown away by this property! The location is convenient to 75 and Findlay Market, which we loved. So many great dining options, we tried the French place across the street and Condado for unique Door Dash tacos.
Our dog LOVED the garden. We did too. Watching the birds and pollinators fascinated us. This could not be a more lovely space.
The carriage house is a cozy place to stay, and that shower is outsranding! We will be back.

I just left from my stay and am extremely pleased with my weekend in Cincinnati. First off, Jon is an excellent host. He checked in throughout our stay, offered wonderful recommendations, responded back to any inquiries in a punctual manner, and made us feel more than comfortable.
I traveled with my dog who was welcomed on the property and there was a great dog park (Washington Park) within a short driving distance and a baseball field one block away that we walked to twice a day. While at home, Brutus made himself comfortable in the back garden area.
The house itself was beautiful and well put together. It had everything I needed to make breakfasts and even a nice dinner on Saturday. There was plenty of lighting in the night hours and there is a private gated entrance to the home. As mentioned above, the summer garden was quite the sight - it’s obvious how much love has been put into the rental.
The residential area even has a coffee shop literally around the corner with the nicest staff you could ask for.
I would highly recommend this gem in Cincinnati. Five stars.

The carriage house was perfectly remodeled and very clean. Property owner was very helpful with things to do and see in the area while we were between events. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a couple nights, and it was very enjoyable and comfortable. The carriage house is beautifully appointed, and has everything you need. The couch and bed are both very comfortable, and the modern shower is great.
We had no trouble parking out front each night, and the location is very close to the highway. Downtown Cincinnati and Riverbend Music Center are close by.
If in the area, we’d certainly return!

I don’t even know if I can properly explain how amazing this space is…while it is just 1 large room, it feels like many little spaces.
Everything is stocked in this property! Towels, dishes, soap, detergent.
The yard is beautiful and quaint. You are staying in the backyard of the main house so when you come and go you walk through and past the main home. This was fine for us but I hadn’t realized how close the two would be from the listing.
There are keys for the gate and a number lock on the carriage house so we felt totally safe while we stayed.
Our 2 little dogs absolutely loved the owners 2 wonderful dogs and that was actually such a fun experience.
The owner is friendly, responsive, nice, kind and readily available for anything you need. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere that I’ve had this great of an experience.
Even the location is perfect. We went to museums, aquariums and restaurants that were all 15 minutes away.
I would honestly stay here over anywhere else in Cincinnati!!!

This is an experience and comfortable stay in the historic district of Cincinnati. Period pictures cannot represent the feeling of comfort and beauty of the property as well as the keys to get to such great sights as the Washington Park and Bengals football game. John has an incredible offering including his two pups! Be ready to step back in time while also having the most comfortable and quiet sleep love your life!
