Kailua is the best town on the island and is home to Kailua Beach -- consistently one of the top-ranked beaches in the world. Located on the Windward side of the mountain, the greenery and landscape is lush and gorgeous. Driving over the mountain pass from the airport into town is one of the most beautiful drives in the world -- similar to the Road to Hana in Maui. Kailua has very few rental properties and hotels, so it is free from the congestion of Honolulu, while still being very close to the main attractions on the island. There is a very modern shopping center with a Target, Whole Foods, boutique shops and restaurants. Popular visitor sites nearby include Lanikai Snorkeling (12 minutes), Pill Box Hike (11 minutes), Pali Lookout (20 minutes), Royal Hawaiian Golf Club (17 minutes), Pearl Harbor (30 minutes), Sea Life Park (20 minutes), Haunauma Bay (30 minutes), and the North Shore (50 minutes).
Kailua Beach offers 3 miles of fine, soft white sand along a crescent shaped bay bordered by clear turquoise waters that have a consistent year-round temperature of about 75 degrees F (25 C). The steady off shore trade winds, water temperature and protective reef make this bay a popular area for water sports including Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddling, Surfing, Boogie Boarding, Swimming and Kite Surfing.
Callouts:
Limited parking for 3 vehicles
Home is configured in 2 sleeping areas -- access to 3 of the bedrooms requires the use of a separate, private entry
No pets allowed in this home

After returning home I asked everyone to give me some feedback on the overall experience. First off, the property is just as advertised, it is a beautiful property, and easy access to the beach. Here is some takeaways from all of us. There was a bedroom in the open area just outside the inner two bedrooms, this area is referred to as the open bedroom area. It was notably hot, the AC was not functioning in this part of the house. I contacted the hosts, and they sent an AC repairman on our last day at the property. Several of our guests had reported a seeing a couple cockroaches around the house, however, a regularly scheduled exterminator arrived to spray. We were not concerned, just had to be diligent in keeping doors and outside areas closed. After connecting with everyone, we considered these issues to be minor. The check in process was simple and easy to follow. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and really enjoyed the property and the surrounding area. I have read other people having issues with the hot tub, however, we had no problems with the hot tub. The only real complaint I have is learning that shaved ice is a fancy snow-cone. A great family memory, and one we will not soon forget, had a wonderful time.

From the moment we opened the gate and saw the pool, to finding and picking our rooms , our arrival was seamless. Only issue ( which has been previously mentioned ) was the spa .We did need some help with the iPad to get it working & also needed maintenance to get the heating working.
Having said this it all happened and it was the only issue we had . Awesome place to stay and share quality time with our family . Could not rate this as a place for a family or big group of friends to stay more highly !

Pictures do not do this beautiful property justice!! There were a few minor hiccups with how many "rooms" there actually are but it all worked out and we were not there for the rooms. The gathering areas and pool was more than enough.

The property hosts need to make a lot of repairs before listing this as occupant-ready. The pool and spa heater didn’t work for 5 of the seven days we were there, there was a gas leak that wasn’t fixed until the end of our stay, the couch/futon was completely broken and unable to serve as a bed, one of two kitchen sinks and washer/dryers was out of service, a shower was broken, among other things. We had to accommodate a stream of repair people and inconveniences during our family reunion which made us very unhappy.
Also, some of the bedrooms aren’t private and are walkthrough spaces that didn’t accommodate the couples in our party. The downstairs king bedroom smells heavily of mold — no one in our party wanted to sleep there. Several of us ended up sleeping in the living room on the floor or couch.
AvantStay staff were friendly over the phone but not very effective in solving the problems. And after all the problems we had to deal with, they refunded us a measly amount that didn’t cover even one night of our stay.
We paid a premium for a luxury property and ended up extremely disappointed.

Location and access to beach fantastic. The layout of bedrooms worked well for us. First few days were frustrating because communication wasn’t good with management. It took a while to get the towels, sheets, instructions for turning things off and on. Also the barbecue was unusable. But they became more responsive and we had a good vacation. Special thanks to Tom, who helped us get a barbecue and appreciated our frustration.

Our three generation family celebrated Thanksgiving & several birthdays. This house was perfect for all of us. Two extra kitchens gave us plenty of room for drinks & any leftovers. The terrace overlooking the pool was a beautiful location for morning coffee!! A very brief walk to the beach was the highlight, with beautiful sand and ocean views!!
This is a lovely home and was enjoyed by all in my family!!!

As advertised. Amazing property. One block from beach. Pool and jacuzzi are awesome. Every room had tv and well equipped house. BBQ works great. Couple of minor issues handled efficiently by property manager: wifi password not correct and showers draining slowly. For a family it’s amazing

This perfectly supplied, enchanting property allowed our extended family to be together for a destination wedding with room for all of us to prepare and enjoy meals, relax poolside or walk to the gorgeous beach, sleep comfortably in private spaces, and truly enjoy being together!

We had a wonderful time staying in this amazing house in Kailua.
The check in process was smooth. We were met by a host who gave us a tour of the house. Our first impression of the house was extremely favorable. The pictures match the house.
The only slightly unusual feature of the house was that one of the queen beds is in an "open" section of the house. This bed would be more ideal for a couple of younger of children, but you are a couple who wants privacy, there is no privacy in this bedroom. I would recommend a picture/floorplan of this section of the house.
Otherwise, the pool/hot tub/back yard are fantastic. The water was clean. The hot tub did require a bit of communication with the property manager to learn how to use (the iPAD that controls the hot tub was not working), but the property manager was very helpful. We got the hot tub heated and bubbly in no time.
The house was perfectly clean, and the landscaping is great.
The kitchen is great! All the appliances worked perfectly. We could not figure out how to get the espresso machine to work, but thankfully the coffee maker was just fine. There are plenty of plates, glasses, silverware, etc.
There are plenty of towels, and the laundry was easy to use. We did towel laundry almost every day as the amazing pool and beach (2 houses away!) were used several times per day.
Overall, we would definitely stay at this house again. I highly recommend this house for large family gatherings or a few smaller families who just want to hang out.

The house, location, and property were all amazing. We were disappointed that when we arrived, we were told the iPad to control the spa was broken.. however the entire spa was broken and remained cold. We called to have it fixed but it took some time and we missed out on using it quite a bit. Additionally the coffee maker didn’t work which is not fun to find out when you wake up ready for coffee. Lastly, even if you turn off your music and are speaking at a normal volume outside past 10pm, neighbors WILL call police and complain. The police confirmed we were not loud, there was no issue, and that this neighborhood is quick to complain. Broken spa + no coffee + not allowed to be outside unless whispering past 10pm put a bit of a damper on the stay.

The pictures are real! The house is situated a minute-long walk down a small path to Kailua beach which is clean, quiet and beautiful. You can walk a mile or so in each direction and there's more activity, if that's what you like. In my opinion this is a much better beach than Waikiki/Honolulu. The house and amenities are amazing. It's a small private oasis in a small neighborhood of beach houses. The landscapaing is outstanding, and the pool and hot tub are a great way to relaz after hiking, or even a day on the beach. It has sun and shade to cater to your needs. If you were going to cook, the kitchen is well stocked with every implement you could need - just bring your main groceries - there's side by side fridge and freezer. The house has tons of sitting and lounging space in many rooms, so you can all be together or find peach and quiet alone if you like. For people coming from afar, there are beach chairs, mats, beach towels, coolers, and unbrellas all stored and ready for you. The bathrooms are all stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, high end amenities. Bath towels are also ready, and two sets of washers and dryers. There's a BBQ close to the pool area also for outside cooking. The only items we needed to bring were our clothes, food, and sunscreen. Overall - everything was amazing and comfortable, I can't say enough great things about the location, property, and management. I would stay here again without question!
