About this house rental
Summary:
The Walton House, built in 1846, is located in the National Historic District of Kennett Square, PA. We are walking distance to downtown Kennett Square and a short drive to local Brandywine Valley points of interest.
The home has been lovingly maintained to reflect its mid 19th century beginnings, while providing a modern, comfortable place to rest while visiting our lovely town. We hope you enjoy the home as much as we do!
The Space:
Guests will park in the driveway behind the house (2 spots) and enter through the garden, down the pea gravel path onto the paved patio to the back door. The back door opens into a bright, clean living room with floor to ceiling windows, a plush Restoration Hardware Cloud sofa and Samsung Frame TV. Continue through the butler's pantry, and you'll find the powder room with antique vanity and marble sink. The butler's pantry opens up into a dream of a kitchen, with herringbone brick throughout, a full-sized farmhouse sink, Kitchenaid dishwasher, a big, bright kitchen window, a prep sink, professional series gas Viking range with commercial hood, two ovens and a griddle, Ninja blender and coffee maker and plenty of space for friends and family to gather. Through the kitchen is the dining room, with a table set for six and and four extra chairs. As you come to the front of the house, the parlor is to the left, where we imagine many generations have enjoyed a late night or two.
On the second floor, there are two king bedrooms and one queen bedroom. The primary suite has an en-suite bathroom with a stand-up Carrera marble tile shower and bright skylight for beautiful natural light all day. The other two bedrooms have access to another full bathroom with a shower/tub combo.
NO PETS ALLOWED.
Guest Access:
The lockbox is located to the left of the side gate. Please return the keys upon departure. Lost key fee is $150.
The Neighborhood:
We are a 5 minute walk to State Street, which is where you'll find most of the restaurants and shops in Kennett, although not all! Check out our guidebook for all of our local recommendations, some of which are off the beaten path! IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ: our house is in a QUIET, residential, area in the historic district. We are beholden to local ordinances which prohibit noise after 9pm. Moreover, we are committed to being respectful of our neighbors and ask that all guests respect our quiet hours. Thank you for considering this requirement before deciding to book. Thank you!
Getting Around:
You can walk to downtown Kennett from the house. You will need a car if you plan to travel around and see points of interest like Longwood Gardens, Brandywine Battlefield Park and Brandywine Art Museum.

This property isn’t just perfect, it is also an historical home. So comfortable and inviting. So convenient to the square shopping and restaurants. We are already planning to return, if you will have us.

The home is wonderful and decorated beautifully. The house was clean and appointed with everything you could need to be comfortable during your stay. Location was great too and walkable to cute shops and restaurants. It was the perfect setting for a little early Christmas get together with family.

I grew up in the area but come back for family visits.
I’ve always loved older homes and this home is a fantastic example of a renovated older home. It’s a classic 180 old home that has had multiple extensions over the years giving the home a unique feel. The kitchen is the center of the home and with a great setup for doing large family meals. The house is two blocks from excellent restaurants on the main strip of Kennet Square. Kennet Square is a classic charming old colonial town that is going through a downtown renaissance. Very memorable trip that my entire family enjoyed.!

The house was well represented and so beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed, the location around the corner from the shops and within a lovely walkable neighborhood allowed us to explore by foot as well as a great jumping off point to get to places farther away

Could use curtains on first floor and better info on TV controls.

Family was together to attend a weekend wedding celebration. We prefer renting a house rather than securing several rooms at a hotel. More room to hang out spend time together.
This rental fit the bill. An unknown extra…it was the mushroom festival.
A very nice weekend!
Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property! We would definitely stay here again. Part of the house was historic though most of it was completely updated or an addition, but with a great historic feel. The house is conveniently located a couple blocks from the middle of town, making for a nice little walk to get coffee breakfast, lunch and shopping. We went to Talullah's Table every day - delicious! We had plenty of room to spread out and relax at the house and garden. Directions were good and property manager was very responsive and responsible. Beds and bathrooms were great.

This was a very comfortable house for 3 friends on a getaway. We loved the location which was a short walk from the main street with restaurants and shops. We did day trips to Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, and the Brandywine Museum.
When we couldn't find the TV remote, Kelly was very responsive and helpful.
Highly recommended!!

We stayed here while visiting my father for his 90th birthday. It was a perfect central location and just a few short blocks to walk to breakfast, drinks or dinner. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped. The beds were very comfortable and having two and half baths was so convenient. We even had front row seats to the Memorial Day Parade! Very Home Town feel! The steps are quite steep and may be a challenge for the elderly.

Family traveled in from Chicago and NY for a family event. The house is beyond beautiful and we loved every minute. Even though it rained, we still had an opportunity to experience Kenneth Square and the amazing shopping and restaurants. Kelly and team have designed a gorgeous home and we will be back.

Really wonderful house – feels larger than it looks in the photos, and well-equipped and stocked. Very comfortable (loved the couches in the family room!) with a lovely little garden and easy parking. Amazing location 2 blocks from the center of Kennett Square. Hosts were very responsive and clearly care about and take good care of the property. Would love to return!

We stayed at this rental while visiting Kennett Square for a few nights in December. The house itself had an amazing kitchen, very nice, modern updates, and was kid friendly.
It was a very nice location as well which was convenient to downtown Kennett Square. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a sisters getaway to enjoy the Longwood Gardens Christmas exhibit. The house was absolutely perfect. It is charming, comfortable and spacious, and served as a great home base for the five of us to explore the surrounding area. The location cannot be beat with only a five minute walk to the shops and restaurants of Kennett Square. I would absolutely stay at this property again.
