The view. You come to this place for the pool and the exceptional view.
Because of the view, this property attracts folks preoccupied with taking pictures of themselves. And to optimise income the property sells day passes to their very small pool, so that residents are joined by a fresh supply daily of those seeking the perfect image of themselves in the setting. It means that it costs guests $100 to remain at the hotel’s pool for a few hours after checking out to wait for the inevitable late night departure of your flight to the US - if the hotel will allow you to remain.
The hotel is in a gated private neighbourhood - without your room key, re-entry to the neighbourhood is obnoxiously challenging. There is one key per room - inconvenient if guests in the same room attempt to return separately to the hotel.
There are no televisions at the hotel. It’s fine when the sun is shining and time at the pool appeals, it’s a challenge when it’s raining.
Finally, the internet service is intermittent and slow, it makes getting things done on the web difficult.

Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay was divine. The Granado products in the bathroom were a nice bonus. It was a stunningly romantic spot so I recommend it for couples. As a solo traveler, it was gorgeous but a little lonely and isolating.
I needed to get an Uber to do something as simple as go to the grocery store and while that wasn’t a big deal, I missed the opportunity to walk around and enjoy the surroundings on foot

The hotel and the view is stunning. Breakfast and the pool overlooking Rio is out of this world and the hotel itself immaculate. Highly recommend visiting for this alone. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The system to order food/drinks is excellent also. Location is lovely also.
Firstly, the price of some of the food in the hotel is extortionate and at prices i'd expect in London/New York. 55 reais for a bowl of chips? there are no shops near by and you have to pass a security gate to go anywhere so you are totally reliant on eating/drinking at the hotel. I understand the cost of some of the food which I think is fair, but small things like chips at nearly £10 GBP, is ridiculous.
Secondly, we spent a lot of money to stay at the hotel including food. on checking out at 12pm the final day, we were informed that to use the pool that day we'd have to pay for day use or buy lunch. it was the first day it was sunny so we didn't step foot near the pool the previous days. I was shocked at that. We were only intending to stay 3 more hours. The pool was 10/15% full. expected better from hotel management then to 'money grab' after we'd spent more than enough to be able to stay what, a further 3 hours by a near empty pool?

The views from the property are absolutely breathtaking! This is a unique converted home in a gated neighborhood with such character. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.
It is definitely far from many attractions, but I still feel this is the best place to stay in Rio.

The view is nice although it’s on a highway with a lot of noise. The staff are very nice.
Mold all over the room, room smelled and facilities need an update.

The view is incredible. There's no better view Rio than from here.
The food was amazing, and the staff was kind.
The pool looks amazing, but it was too cold during this time of the year.
The room is also very spacious, but it was also too cold.
There's absolutely no heating!
My partner and I almost froze in the room.
At this price, at least there must be some kind of heating.
We didn't go during a cold season, however given that the place is on the cliffside, near the sea, it gets very cold.

The property is dated, the bathrooms was mildew and not clean. The pool area need to be pressure washed & clean

I loved how historically the hotel is, an old mansion that turned into a rustic hotel. Unique in the style and very pretty. Room has a great space and waking up seeing the Redeemer Christ was just an amazing experience! (we were at the purple room) Staff is wonderful and they assist you on everything you need.
There is no little fridge in the rooms, so if you want a cold drink at 2am you will need to order outside of the property.

I loved the views and pool and the floating breakfast. I love how it was a smaller boutique hotel, so very private. I love it was gated, I felt really safe. My fave person there was Alessandro, he made sure we were good and was always available to assist. The food was absolutely delicious.
The rooms were outdated, lots of dust and things that didn’t work (ceiling fans). After day 2 they stopped cleaning our room even though we continued to request it be clean. We were there 6 nights. Our AC kept going out so maintenance had to continue to fix it. Ubers didn’t want to come up the hill to come get us, they kept cancelling once they seen how far up we were. However, we had a driver most days so it wasn’t that bad.
