About this house rental
This cozy but stylish 3 bedroom, 1 full bath, 1,000 square foot Pet Friendly property has completely been renovated and remodeled. This 1956 concrete block & wood framing ranch comes with a fully fenced in backyard with patio. Inside it features newly finished original hardwood floors, custom concrete countertops, upgraded cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, ceiling fans throughout, bright open living spaces, a personal workout room downstairs with full access to the in-home laundry room.
This cozy home is light and bright. The property has been decorated with a minimalist approach offering little to no clutter. Each bedroom is furnished with a memory foam mattress, tufted headboard, dual nightstands, reading lamps, throw blanket, area rug at the foot of the bed, and a laundry basket in the closet along with hangers. The house has completely been remodeled with engineered hard wood floors throughout, brand new kitchen cabinetry, custom concrete countertops, stainless steel appliances, tasteful furnishings and an in-home washer & dryer located in the laundry room downstairs just off of the fitness room.
Debating on whether or not you should bring your dog? All of our rental properties are Pet Friendly. You will find a fully enclosed fenced-in backyard located at the end of the driveway to the right.
Guests will have access to the entire property. The are only 2 areas that are off limits: the Owner's Closet located downstairs next to the washer and dryer, and the Owner's Garage located at the end of the driveway behind the house.
All communication will be handled online via the AirBnB text messaging thread. In the event of an emergency our Property Manager Brian Kenny's direct contact information will be provided at time of check-in.
Located in a quiet family neighborhood on a non through street. This rental offers close proximity to the newly remodeled Merle Hay Shopping Center which will feature a brand new 3,500 seat multi purpose arena. This newly developed center will be the new home to the Des Moines Buccaneers USHL hockey team - all while hosting national tournaments, e-sports, trade shows and concerts. The shopping center will also offer plenty of shopping, restaurants, theatre, and sports bars all within less than 1 mile from the rental property.
Uber and Lyft are available in the immediate area. A personal vehicle or rental car is always encouraged.
* There will be an additional Pet Fee of $150 for any and all pets. Pricing can be negotiated based on size, age and training of animal. Please be advised that this fee is PER ANIMAL and that the guest is still liable, responsible and will be held accountable for any pet accidents throughout the home for the duration of their stay (i.e. Urine or poop stains, chewed up furniture, damaged property or missing personal belongings).
HOUSE RULES & CHECKOUT PROCEDURES
* QUIET HOURS: The City of Des Moines enforces a strict policy of quiet hours starting as early at 10 PM. Any violation received by Des Moines PD, the booking AirBnB guest will be held personally responsible for paying any fines incurred.
* PET FEE: There will be an additional Pet Fee of $150 per pet. Pricing can be negotiated based on size, age and training of animal. Please be advised that this fee is PER ANIMAL and that the guest is still liable, responsible and will be held accountable for any pet accidents throughout the home for the duration of their stay (i.e., Urine or poop stains, chewed up furniture, damaged property or missing personal belongings).
* Please be sure to shut and lock ALL DOORS throughout the entire property prior to departing. These doors will include:
- Front Door
- Back Patio Door
* Take out the trash prior to your departure. The trash can is located on the East side of the home to the left of the driveway. All RECYCLABLE ITEMS can be disposed of in the BLUE can located next to the black trash can.
* Strip all beds of any dirty sheets, pillowcases, used linens and place them inside of the washing machine in the basement prior to vacating the premises.
* ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING of any kind inside of the home (Back patio only). Please be sure to pick up your cigarette butts after yourselves. A $250 Penalty Fee can and will be enforced.
* There is absolutely NO DECORATING allowed at the rental property. This will include but not limited too: confetti, pin tacks, tape, and streamers. In the event we find any of these items at time of checkout a $300 fine will be incurred.
* Empty fridge of all personal items or leftover food.
* Place all dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
* Be mindful and careful of furniture & furnishings.
* * * PLEASE NOTE: This property is guarded by NEST Security Cam. There is a camera located at the front door facing the entryway and another in the backyard facing the driveway. These cameras have been installed for security purposes only.

Was planning to stay with several friends. They couldn’t make it. So glad I kept the rental. It was comfortable, conveniently located, & clean. Shower pressure was definitely lacking, but that was the only thing that I took issue with. Property manager (or owner) was great at communicating with me.

We were in Iowa for a speech and debate national tournament. The house was exactly as listed. We had easy access and the reservation and access to the home was easy to follow and painless. I actually enjoyed it so much I miss the house!!! I would highly recommend this home and will be using it in the future for more visits!

Everything was as advertised. We had a bit of trouble with figuring out the AC but called the property manager and eventually got it squared away. Also had trouble with the WIFI but again the property manager went out of his way to get the correct password and made sure we were able to connect. Nice neighborhood, close to restaurants and other sites. We would stay there again.

My wife and I booked this home for a few nights stay during participation in the Ironman DesMoines 70.3. It was close to the city, and located in a quiet neighborhood area. The house was ready and clean, and Charlton was quick to respond to questions or concerns we had during our stay. If we come back to the area, I would definitely stay again.

The house matched the description provided and met our expectations. The fenced in backyard was great for our dog. Amenities met our needs for the three days we were there. The neighborhood was great, everyone was friendly. Would recommend to anyone who needs a place to crash and doesn't want to stay at a hotel!

VRBO 6212 Boston Ave
We booked this property after checking several pet friendly properties in Des Moines. We have a cat, and pet friendly does not always mean cat friendly. We always check if a cat is allowed.
The hosts for 6212 Boston Avenue were very responsive to our inquiries which is always a good sign for us. There are two hosts that manage the property, and we found both to be very professional, helpful, funny, and responsive.
The home is as advertised, clean and uncluttered.
There is plenty of storage in the kitchen along with a pantry. It is well stocked with dishes, cutlery, pans, etc. The knives were dull and hard to use. Dishwasher works great. Plenty of cleaning supplies under the sink.
The mirrored medicine cabinet is nice for storage. There are lots of closets with hangers. The linen closet is well stocked with towels, toilet paper, and games. Beware the hole in the floor for the Wifi router cables if you have a curious kitty. Luckily the door latches securely.
Some suggestions:
Sharpen the knives
Secure bathroom rug; it slides around
Add a dry mop for the vinyl plank floors
(There is a broom in the pantry.)

Only reason for the 3 star for location was due to the massive amount of snow on the roads getting to the house which made it difficult to get a larger vehicle in the driveway (which the host cannot control). The home was warm, secure, very comfortable, and I felt very safe staying there. The fenced yard was perfect for the dog. All in all, I would stay here the next time I am in the area.

This is a lovely house in a good neighborhood. Communication between the initial manager was excellent, the second manager I had minimal contact with but was also responsive. Kudos to the the handyman Micah, he was also responsive to my requests and always let me know when he was doing work around the house.
Location was great to get around Des Moines, close to Merle Hay… also easy access to I 80, 235 to west Des Moines etc
Well appointed kitchen… dining rooms chairs were not too comfortable
Bedrooms were comfortable
Overall a nice place to stay

My number one thing communication. Communication with manager was so easy and fast! Super clean and easy check in. Great fenced backyard and not over decorated which is important for a 2 year old to stay out of. Thanks for hosting! Super duper close to groceries, gas, and food.

This was a great rental in a prime location. Close to downtown and lots of thing to do. The property was clean and the management was extremely accommodating and very communicative. I would highly recommended and if I’m ever in town I will definitely be coming back!! Thank you for everything!!

I booked this property in December 2022 for our trip in June 2023. We came down from the Twin Cities MN for a large car show. I asked if I could park my car in the garage and have access to outside water for washing the car up. Yes, the owner said he will make that happen.
Well, I didn't get any check-in info. I sent 2 messages. The info arrived 2 hours before we had to leave. Once we arrived. No outside water and hose and no garage access. Great. Went inside the home. Dirty dishes. And all of the bedding and towels had to be washed. What?!? No one staged the home at all. Luckily the previous renter was clean. Very disappointed.
The home was very nice. Small. Clean. Uncluttered. Minimal. Quiet neighborhood. No extras at all, which is fine.
Love the property. But the management was very poor. The property should be ready for the renter.

We stayed here while visiting our children and grandchildren for end of the year events. The home was comfortable and easy to be in. Too cold for sitting in the yard. Maybe next time.

Every rental should be this perfect - clean, well-stocked, and perfectly appointed. It feels like you are staying in a hotel-like setting and not someone's random rental property. I appreciated the hospitality and the effort to make it feel like home for an extended stay. I hope it's available the next time I'm in Des Moines.

The home was was very clean and well taken care of and provided a great place for us to enjoy visiting my son and granddaughter. The fenced in yard was a wonderful option to allow my daughters dog and my granddaughter to play safely in. Patio furniture would have been nice for us to have been able to sit on while watching them play or while we grilled.
Another nice touch would be to have pet bowls available since it is a pet friendly rental.
Overall a nice place to stay!
