Absolutely horrible/hidden charges black mold in room staff unprofessional unconcerned and dismissive. Charged for parking when I didn’t drive

Awesome. Front Desk and restaurant staff were very accommodating

We checked in and got to our room on the 2nd floor which had a very musty odor. I went to wash my hands in the bathroom and felt a drop of water on my neck. I looked up to see that the ceiling was cracked and leaking. We reported this to the front desk and they changed our room. Now we weee on the 1st floor. The toilet had debris or stain in it. We told the front desk and they sent someone to check it. It seemed to be some kind of paper that had gotten stuck. We stepped outside to the patio and it was very untidy. The chairs were dusty and the small table dirty. We cleaned them and enjoyed a little rest before going out to the pool. The grounds were very pretty and you could tell that this place had been a beautiful resort once. It has a lot of catching up to do. The staff from front desk to tiki bar to maintenance were all great, which is why we overlooked some things. We washed up only using the sink because the bath tub surface was horrible. Room 128. Also they must have a very big issue with mold as there was a humidifier in the room.
Interior doors leading from the different wings to the lobby were shabby. The rooms we saw seemed to have been newly decorated and very nice.

The service was amazing but we stayed during the storm so all facilities were flooded and our purpose for the trip (manatees) couldn’t go ahead.
Not the hotels fault but due to this is couldn’t rate the facilities.
3.8
Our stay was great. Checkin was fast, maybe 5 minutes. Our room was clean and the grounds were excellent. Loved the pool and the tiki bar.

Loved everything about this property! Thinking of returning once a year!

Loved our stay! Family activity options, good pool & bar; excursions. We will be back!

Quaint hotel, beautiful pool area on the river, TIKI bar. Excellent food. Helpful staff. But there wasn't an elevator in our building but a staff member voluntarily brought our luggage up. Overall a beautiful place that could use some refreshing in some areas.

The hotel is in a nice location but it’s not the cleanest place. My room wasn’t ready at 4pm check-in time and others arriving same day had to wait around as well.
3.8
pool area was crowded and furniture falling apart - such a gem of a location- needs updating
3.8
They have everything you need or want in the area

We stay here every year during scallop season and we bring our boat. The property is located in freshwater area with all the amenities you could want after a day on the water. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The pool is always clean and well-maintained and well stocked with towels. A very family friendly resort and we choose this area over Homosassa to the south. Crystal River is more of a family friendly venue whereas Homosassa to the south is more of an adult party venue. is it a five star kiss your butt Resort? No. It has more of an old-school Florida feel with everything you could want for a few days or a week on the water.

Well, to start we were greeted with a urine aroma when we walked into our room. My family would have checked out when that happened and gone somewhere else but being the 4th of July, all was sold out. The first night we called the front desk when we noticed we only had two (very small) bath towels for four people. I wanna say I called 4-5 times and got no answer. That happened on all three of our nights there. Each night I ended up driving to the front desk. First night, she tells me that they are out of bath towels but she can give me pool towels. No big deal. I get back to the room and my son is freezing so I tried calling again for a blanket, no answer. I wasn’t driving up there again. He was freezing for two nights because we had a second similar experience when trying for a blanket night two. We also had to get toilet paper from Winn Dixie because the room wasn’t cleaned and when I mentioned they said I would need to request it. Mind you, this was on one of my drives to the front desk because they don’t answer the phone.
The hallways are all tile which is obviously easier to clean and prevents wet carpet smelling moldy. However, it created a very loud environment where you could hear every word of all the people going to and from their rooms. This went on all day and night.
Overall, it’s gonna be a never again for us.
There was also a sign saying that the pool was closed the next day. We weren’t there for the pool but I would’ve been real pissed if we were.

Pool with access to the canals. Close proximity to manatees. Old, quaint Florida feel.

Someone that works at this property posted a room with "Multiple Beds and kitchenette" on Expedia at $163.00 per night. Being that we were 4 gentlemen it was a great deal-we were surprised at the price but we thoughted maybe this unit is not renewed yet since most of the property floors were changed recently. Upon arrival, the room was "not available/non existent." After waiting until 5 PM, they gave us a room with two queen beds for 4 guys and no kitchenette. One of us left, the other one slept on a horrible rollaway. Today they put us in a room with 3 beds (we had to change rooms) but they should have given us 2 rooms from the beginning -we are paying $800 for 3 nights and if someone made a mistake, they should have comp. a room to save this review. We stay here because of the boat ramp, the floors are new but the rest is not. First night we found dripping mold from the room upstairs in one of the closets, hair in the bathroom. Best part: pool and tiki bar..we will have fun anyways!

We really enjoyed the property. Room was not ready at 5pm however staff was very Friendly. This is a great family resort. Pool and patio were amazing. We will be coming back and will bring our boat.

Very nice location entrance is beautiful. Some broken furniture around the pool and other broken items throughout the hotel should just be removed. Pool also needed maintenance cleaning etc. The boat rental went smoothly, and was a nice addition to our weekend. If you’re going into the springs kayak is recommended. All employees are pleasant and helpful.
3.8
Property is long in the tooth. Mildew in the rooms
3.8
The website and photos definitely made it appear to be more luxurious than it is in reality. However, we still had an amazing time. The proximity to the springs, ability to rent kayaks on property, and the dining options both on property and nearby were wonderful. The rooms were well kept, but the lack of a microwave was disappointing as well as the entire bathroom situation (not up to date). Overall we had a wonderful experience and might come back again.

Awesome place to visit, something for everyone, even kids.
Will definitely be going back

Hot water was not hot in my room
Reported to management, no improvent.

Building 4 you need a key for the front door, but the side door does not even have a lock mechanism to unlock the door. It opens for anyone. It looks like it has been like that for years

Quite the property in its day - needs up grades and renovations . Very dated and worn out .

We loved that Freedom Boat Club is onsite. Rental of paddle board and kayak was super easy. Great time at the Plantation.

The walls are so thin...you hear everything, from the room next to you and everything down the hall. It's hard to sleep with so much noise. Staff looked bored and disinterested, especially at the front desk. It wasn't welcoming and the property was outdated and unbelievably noisy. I wouldn't stay here again.

Basic. Great location

Such a cute authentic little spot. Weekend getaway to clear my mind. It had so much charm!!
Just be aware of your surroundings. A black snake scared the life out of me at one of the outside doors!
Otherwise loved it!

This place has so much potential! It is a 60 year old hotel and sadly it does show. It's really a very beautiful property and could be a 4 star plus hotel with some work. The pool and hot tub area was clean and well kept.
The front desk staff was awesome, very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping did a great job and were friendly as well.
The bartenders were great as well.
The restaurant needs help, servers were horrible at their job. We had to ask for water, ask for refills to water and coffee, and this was in a mostly empty restaurant. Waitress was very slow in making the rounds, the kitchen was even slower. Both times we ate there, once for lunch once for breakfast, there were only a few other tables seated in the whole place and each time it took almost 30 minutes to get food out. We ate breakfast burritos one day and for lunch we had grilled fish. Food quality was good, but speed it up!!!
We also did the manatee dive through their "Dive Shop". It was great. We saw up close multiple manatees and the crew were great at their job.
My main complaint about the "Dive Shop" is that they do not do any scuba trips. Its a snorkling shop. Thats fine, but the website uses scuba flags and refers to itself as a dive shop and charter. We had planned on doing scuba dives through them as the convivence being part of the hotel is nice. This was a main reason to choosing the hotel and I probably would not have if I had known they do not provide diving at the dive shop...
2 solid stars.

Love the old time feel of this hotel - beautiful area.

The core of the hotel is beautiful! The lobby, outside pool area and tiki bar were excellent. All the services were great with the exception of a maintenance man handing me an extension cord to hook a lamp too and not offering to help or even asking if I needed help.
Our only complaint would be the quest rooms. The rooms are half way remodeled but the bathroom not. The bath tub has chips in the porcelain and mold in the chalking.
The hair dryer did not work. However, they quickly responded and brought another one to our room
Towel rack bar off and standing in corner by the toilet.
We did have a good time and live Crystal River.

This hotel is not pet friendly. We left early because we had our dog with us
3.8
The bathroom had no place to put our toiletries down, there was no hot water in the shower and no bath mat to use had there been any hot water, there were broken ceiling tiles, mold growing in the corners of the ceiling, no breakfast. The staff didn’t have our rooms ready when we got there at 4:20 pm—they said to wait 5 minutes while they went to see if they were ready. 40 minutes later ( after the person who talked to us left) they finally got us rooms on the second floor. I use a walker and was told that they didn’t have an elevator!! My husband has difficulty walking as well. Also, there were no carts to transport our luggage. My son and daughter kept their room on the second floor and we were finally given a room on the first floor. I could go on and on— but anyway you look at it, the place was intolerable! We ended up canceling our reservations for the next 2 nights and we think we deserve a refund for the night we had to stay there.
3.8
The property was far from resort-worthy. Painfully under-staffed, ceiling tiles throughout lobby were in disrepair, hallways in dire need of being cleaned and painted, stairwell carpet torn and dirty, shower tiles moldy and in need of repair, no hot water, and bathroom vent covered in mold. Called back to ensure refund and was on hold for 90 minutes before giving up. Left after first night and cancelled the rest of our stay. Refund better come through.

There were no pool towels. When I asked the front desk they said she would call housekeeping, an hour later I went back and asked for manager. Finally the manager and housekeeping supervisor brought us bath towels for the pool. We had snacks at tiki bar, dinner at west 82, which was delicious. Breakfast Saturday, before our massages was not what we expected. It took a long time and was cold, the water…what’s up with that? We live in Homosassa and recommend the plantation, we’ve actually stayed there for our anniversary, sunset tour and all of our family members for the manatee tour. Tiki bar was excellent service, dinner was excellent…front desk Saturday afternoon…not so much. Check in was perfect, just disappointed in Saturday afternoon.

Guest room had no lock on the adjoining room door. It was a hole where the deadbolt should have been. Maintenance guy said he couldn’t fix it and was throughly irritated that we bothered him. Sink in bathroom clogged and all I did was wash my hands!!! That’s when I saw the lock situation. The poor employee at the front desk was new and tried her best. Her manager was sitting at a desk behind the wall and wouldn’t help her as she was new to the job. Took about 40 minutes and she found another room for me. The room was ok but the entire property smells like mold, must and mildew. We had stayed here three times before and it’s definitely gone way down hill. Hallways and stairwells were very dirty. Food at the bar was just ok. Way overpriced for room and food. If I didn’t know better it seems as if the place is ready to be torn down.
3.8
Dirty rooms and hotel. Bad food at the restaurant. Terrible account service. They charged me twice and i can’t reach anyone to fix it.
Never again
3.8
This is a beautiful property, the rooms are getting old, the land and pool are great.
3.8
I thought the property was lovely. The rooms are dated and could use an update. I would stay here again due to location, pool and property.
3.8
Asked for a pack and play a total of 3 times , never managed to get one . Had to sleep in a very small bed with 2 kids because there was nowhere for my infant to sleep.
Curtains were hanging off the wall in our room , mold on all the vents and no key entry to our building which means anyone could enter . The pool was full of teenagers that were not staying at the hotel and made the experience miserable.
Menu for the restaurant is 2 years out of date (the bartender told us that) but i will say the food was very good and holly the bartender was brilliant. Has the potential to be a fantastic hotel but it is incredibly outdated.
