Ideal for Plymouth Pavilion

Room comfortable, bathroom clean but bath high. Shower in bath but no handles, difficult to get in and out.
Towels very small for bath size.

This is a beautifully restored old building with lots of history. It feels pretty grand inside, but is not stuffy ;-) lovely and quiet even though next to the road, and with ample parking around. A less than 5 minute drive to the ferry, which is so convenient.

We stayed for the national beard and moustache competition, no parking available so it cost an extra £16.00 on street. Bed really uncomfortable and the bathroom the smallest I have ever entered, the hotel has great character and the communal areas are kept very well, considering the hotels size. The room was very overpriced. Room 106

Another lovely stay in The Duke of Cornwall.Grwat location for the delights of Plymouth and onsite parking a bonus.

This hotel has a fantastic history but has suffered from lack of investment for many years, any repairs seem to be sticky plaster fixes.
The staff try their best but are not supported by getting the investment needed to maintain and run this once beautiful building
The outside rear is a shambles and the outside front needs a good clean.
My experience on the last two visits to this hotel have ended poorly and when you have business to conduct this can affect your productivity levels.

Excellent location from Britany Ferries dock, nice views from hotel with nicely maintained old buildings looks like castle. Also I was amazed how hotel dispatch Taxi with there system, quick and modern technology.

Unfortunately our double room was small and only had one bedside table which was very inconvenient.
We stay at this hotel regularly but this visit was not so good as previous stays. When I asked if I could have a bedside table put in the answer was no. I ended up using a chair.

Hotel had a lot of character and history, which includes survivors of The Titanic and Ernest Shackleton the Antarctic Explorer which has a room named after him. He were lucky enough to stay in that room.

Very historic hotel, old style but pleasant. Room was big and convenienr. Staff was a bit rude, for example they charge guest staying 2 nights for printing 1 page pdf document, never seen if for last 10 years. Night receptionist not helpfull at all inasked where to buy uk electric sockets. It was very visible that i bothering him. He said rudely not possible before 9am. I went out walk 2 min and shop was selling that. Really could be very good place but this staff do that its just an average place

One of, if not the worst stay I’ve had in years. We had 2 rooms booked, a family room and a superior double. Firstly the family room was very cramped, and the single mattress has seen much better days and hardly represented a mattress anymore. The room was very dated and worn down, and had a very musky smell. While the superior double room was better, it was in fact much larger than the family room, and made more sense for this to be the family room. However that was unfortunately the only positive of the room. This room again was very worn down, and this one was pretty dirty. The floor clearly hadn’t been mopped or cleaned, the shower was covered in hair, long and short, the towels had black marks on them and the wall was flaking away with clear signs of damp. The shower was terrible, with the water pressure coming and going, and it taking 5 minutes for the temperature to stabilise, both the shower and toilet dripped with the noise being heard through the night too as the door doesn’t close properly and there is a huge gap underneath, and the handle was hanging off. We had multiple key issues, with it regularly deactivating and needing to go to reception to re-program. The tap water also came out cloudy several times. The car park also only has roughly 10-15 spaces, so fills up pretty fast, by the Wednesday evening we arrived, there wasn’t any spaces. Breakfast was not worth the price at all and a very small selection, with none of it being particularly good.

This hotel is very dated . We had to ask for more pillows because they were so flat ,bed was comfortable but new duvets and pillows are needed. The carpet in room was stained.

Clean room and public areas. Polite and efficient staff.

Quite dated generally. The bathroom had the smallest shower cubicle I’ve ever encountered. No air conditioning in the room, no refrigerator but the carpet stains were interesting.
Location good and staff friendly.

The hotel is aged and a bit dated. But the staff more than make up for it.
First class staff.

Lovely, friendly staff, but the bed was so uncomfortable I had a bad night sleep. The fire alarm went off twice at 1:30am and although I was apologised to, I feel like the overall stay wasn’t enjoyable.

This is a wonderful, grand, historic building and retains the ambience of Victorian grandeur, even though there are a few scuffs and scrapes and rusted ironwork!. The reception staff were extremely welcoming and efficient and this was the case with all staff that we encountered including the breakfast staff. The room was beautifully decorated and fitted and was very comfortable with all amenities that you could want. Lots of sockets by the bed as well. Our room benefitted from a superb sea view. The breakfast was very good, though veggie/vegan sausages would have been a welcome addition. For the price we paid, this hotel was an absolute bargain and we would love to return here again. Perfect location for anyone visiting Plymouth.

All the staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful.
Building and some of the decor requires significant amount of attention

A very nice hotel in a good area.

Everything you would expect from an old world building. Creaking floors, lots of doors to stop warmth escaping.
This is not a five star resort so dont go in thinking it is. It has a lot of beautiful old world charm about it.
Staff were excellent.
Breakfast was excellent.

On booking out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay as was the person following us. We had to pay for parking in the hotel carpark the receptionist did not advise us to go back in the lift to the first floor we asked another member of staff how we got onto the carpark. The room however was very spacious

The Duke is an absolutely stunning building but it needs serious investment. All looking a bit tired. The staff were lovely, the location perfect and our stay overall was fine.

Old-school hotel with lots of character, but also clean and comfortable rooms. Single-bed room and bathroom had ample space. Could hear some sounds from the corridor but nothing significant. Excellent cooked breakfast with friendly, welcoming staff (although they struggled a bit on busy weekend mornings).

Staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout our stay.
The room was large and comfortable however the mattress was quite uncomfortable and the pillows weren’t the comfiest even after requesting an additional 2.
Great breakfast and value as it was included in our room rate.
Great location, easy to access town and local sights

I booked a single room for 2 nights and was allocated room 105. My first impressions of the hotel were quite good as it is a beautiful old building, however the room was not great. The window frame was rotten and a constant breeze blew through as the weather outside was foul, the net curtain was half the width of the window and the curtains were old and different lengths. The bed was OK and also the bathroom. Although there was a kettle, the tea bags, milk and sugar were not topped up, so not much use on the second day.
Breakfast was very limited. No fresh fruit or yoghurts were available throughout my stay and limited pastries and cereal selection.
So some things were OK, but plenty of room for improvement.

This is not a brand new hotel but a building with character. Great value for money, a good choice at breakfast, attentive staff.
Clean, warm and hospitable and a convient location for before and after events at the pavilions.

Very basic in room facilities.
Cleaning staff appear to have little regard for guests.
