Great retro hotel and a MUST stay for tiki enthusiasts. The Reef bar attached to the hotel is fantastic and everything a tiki fan could want with kitschy decor/vibe and good drinks! Rooms were comfy and the AC was high powered. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious. The room was perfectly clean and the right temperature. Best music by the pool ever!

Pool and hot tub are great. I love the on-site restaurant. Even though I didn’t have a pet with me this time, glad to know they’re pet friendly! I love that they allow any pet— Not just dogs. That alone would be a reason for me to come back. The room was clean and comfortable, However, mine hairdryer, and the dispensers were out of shampoo and conditioner—those are things I have come to count in every hotel so I don’t have to pack them. I made do with what I had (luckily) bc once I’m settled in my room, I prefer not to have people in it to replenish things and it was just for a couple of nights. Overall, though the pros outweigh the cons!

Love the Caliente Tropics! fantastic bar, great pool. great staff.

Nice affordable motel that allows dog $25 a nite with a great pool and bar. unfortunately because it is reasonably affordable too many families with obnoxious kids in the pool

Absolutely loved our night at this hotel. Wish we’d stayed longer. The pool is open until midnight, so it’s perfect for a dip after a long hot day.

Perfect stay in a motel from the Tiki era
3.9
The property was nice but the room is really dated and had an old house smell. I couldn't sleep in the bed and stayed in another hotel nearby.
3.9
The room was not even equivalent to a motel 6. It was baldly decorated, i had read reviews about a funny smell that I wish I paid more attention to. That smell is a roach bomb that was let off in the room and the room was never aired out thoroughly. We found 4 large dead roaches in our room that I’m sure came out of hiding to die. The toilet ran the entire time. The shower head was not tightened on top so it sprayed water everywhere. There was no soap in the dispenser either so we just used shampoo. The bed side table was falling off. We had the AC set at 61 because it was so hot and it got down to around 76 in the room. The tiki bar outside has good drinks but they were about $18 a piece and the food was o oh good if you like deep fried. Sanchos, the other restaurant was terrible. My husbands steak fajita was sad and overcooked and fried and my taco salad was so wet and sloppy. The pool is good but the lounge chairs are cheap. I can tell they are trying to reach the tiki theme but overall this is nowhere near a 4 star property.

It was nice

Decent pool area and ok rooms for an independently run motel. Friend's room on west side of motel had broken A/C, as did apparently all other units on that side. I assume the issue is that they booked them through Expedia rather than directly with the motel, but if half of your facility has no A/C in 115 degree heat then those units should be removed from all online booking software. Not a terrible experience, but also not sure I'd come back in the future.

We arrived at 7:00pm, it was 107 in Palm Springs. The A/C in the upper floor room was off, room temperature was about 95. We turned it down to 62, left for two hours to have dinner, but was still over 90 when we returned around 9:00. It was obvious the room wouldn’t going to cool to a point where we could sleep, so we checked out. They offered us a suite, but the quality and cleanliness of the room didn’t meet our expectations to begin with, so we decided to drive an additional 4.5 hours to our home in Phoenix. We had already driven over five hours from Solvang, to Huntington Beach, then to Palm Springs, so it was pretty bad.

Pool was great, food was good, drinks were amazing

The proper overall was dated and old. The plumbing was terrible. It took minutes for the water to fully hot down after a shower or use of the sink.
3.9
LOVE the atmosphere of this place,my girlfriend PattytOH love it,we loved the pool,FREE parking.

The staff at this hotel is really nice. Plus they’re honest. On our way out we made it down the road and they called staying we left our iPad and laptop on the table… I have no idea how we missed grabbing those high value items. I really appreciate them reaching out and returning those to us. Its nice to know they have genuinely good people working at their hotel.
My one issue with this hotel room is the layout. The a/c unit is in the bathroom area and half of the bathroom area is blocked off by a wall/partition. So the a/c barely makes it to the beds. Before we went to bed we set the air to 68 and when we woke up it was at 80 degrees. We were sweating bullets alllllll night.

Took my son to celebrate his 12th birthday in Palm Springs so we stayed at this hotel and we loved it! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Only thing I would change is the heated pool during the summer, the water was too warm especially for the 120 degree weekend we spent 😅 but I would definitely stay again! Also loved the tiki bar (The Reef) at the hotel.

Always enjoy our stays at this property

Our tub would flood. Water would not go down. The AC was dirty and would not cool the room down. The bed mattress were old and springy. Hotel need to be updated.

Nice family friendly spot with a big pool a cool Tiki bar and restaurant
3.9
LOVE this place! Comfy beds, large rooms and they also have the BEST little on-site Tiki bar/restaurant and a FANTASTIC on-site mexican restaurant. We never felt the need to leave during our weekend stay!
3.9
Very nice place to stay.
3.9
a bad experience we wanted to enjoy the pool and we had a very bad inconvenience a person from the hotel staff wanted to get us out of the pool for having some chips with us by force they wanted us to buy what they sell at the hotel I told the person She wanted to get us out of the pool, so we threw them in the trash and the problem was resolved and she insisted that I get out of the pool.
3.9
This place sucks! For the price you would think they would let you bring your own food or drinks to the pool area. They are super rude when they tell you that you can’t have food or drinks in the pool area and I even heard them threatening someone with the police all because they had a bag of chips. The pool is connected to a restaurant which they try to force you to buy alcohol drink there that are close to $20 a drink! The room was ok other than the toilet leaking at the bottom and the shower floor seemed to be cracked. Pay a little extra and get a better hotel cause this place is garbage and for the price you should be able to get something better.

Edna at the front desk makes you feel very welcome. She's always upbeat and friendly.

Caliente is the hotel to stay when visiting Palm Springs.. Location is perfect and the ambiance make you feel like you on a tropical vacation in the desert… The pool is very relaxing and the Reef bar and restaurant are excellent for pool side lunch and tropical cocktails… We were upgraded to the “Tiki Parlor Room” which was so spacious and comfortable… I highly recommend!!!!!

Fun place! Friendly staff..grounds and room very clean..big pool!

8 years in the past, back again rooms are the same dirty carperts , no way coming back in the future.

Bartender seemed to have "an attitude" (maybe he was having a bad day?) so we took our drinks out to the pool area.
Accommodations were clean and comfortable, however there is no table/chairs or desk to hold even a small laptop in the room.
3.9
Took over 24 hours for room to cool down. Ice maker not working so had to go to office with your bucket for ice. Lanai room was larger but don’t expect to relax in a weeded area with broken down furniture. Staff was not friendly at Reef restaurant but food was good. Mexican restaurant was great and staff was nice there. Pool was nice but facilities overall need to be updated and repaired. Kids weee screaming in pool until midnight when we were in there. Look out for pool police who won’t let you bring in your own food or drinks in. We made our drinks in room and put them in our hydros and we were fine. Shower faucet was broken and either went to extremely hot or lukewarm. Dispensers on wall shower were empty. Luckily I always use my own. Elmers down the street was about 3/4 mile walk but had a fabulous breakfast. Bootleggers was an awesome Tiki bar to go to as well as The Tonga Hut. Celebrated my hubby’s birthday with friends and he wanted a tiki getaway. Most likely won’t be back to this hotel unless they make many improvements.

I have stayed several times at this hotel and it seems to be going downhill instead of making improvements to make guests stay enjoyable. For starters the air conditioning has not been improved, units are old and do not cool the rooms to where it is comfortable and it takes about an hour to cool to around 78 degrees. One of the 3 days I was there the pool was closed from 8am to 12pm for maintenance as they were trimming the palm trees however the entire day till sundown they continued the work and the noise made it hard to relax by the pool or in the room. An employee came to my room early the morning of the maintenance to ask what type of car I drove, I had parked my vehicle on the other side where I was told to park the night prior, having someone come to bother me was annoying. The Ice machines that used to be in the middle of the complex have been removed and now there is only one ice machine in the exercise room in the back of he complex, this is very inconvenient. The 3rd day of my stay the power wen out from 9am to 12:20pm and that was the electric company’s doing not the hotel however the hotel neglected to do a restart to make certain the Wi-Fi and television was working properly, All channels on the television were jamming, very annoying. One reason that I have chosen to stay at this property several times is their pool and the bar service however that is now not enough for me to continue to stay at this property. The 7 day cancellation policy is outdated

Sadly, we booked the room so we could enjoy The Reef Bar but it was closed for cleaning. Was very disappointed

Great place to stay if you don’t want to drive into downtown just to eat. This place has it all; pool, drinks and restaurant on the premises

Always great

The hotel is in a bad condition in general. Needs serious maintenance. The entrance door had gaps which allowed bugs to come into the room. The AC made a huge noise that made impossible to sleep. The bed sheets looked yellowish dirty, the covers were old and rugged. The smalll fridge didn’t work, neither did the land line. Very noisy too, it was the most horrendous stay I’ve ever had in my life. They charged $120 for a motel that should have probably charge $40 for the service and quality of the place. The power went off, and it was very hot, no where to charge electronics, for the whole morning. Never again!! Very low class hotel.
3.9
The room inside was basically like Motel 6 it was clean but pretty old and somewhat rundown the exterior especially the main positive part of it was a big swimming pool that was filled with warm water but the bar was separate from the hotel and they charged $18 a drink and you could not drink your own stuff at the pool. Unless you put it in a drink container from your room which they could not tell what it was Lol
3.9
Great value, basic rooms, the hotel has been around many years, but the staff were great. Everything was clean and the tiki bar restaurant was great. We didn’t use the pool but it was packed. A fun place at motel 6 pricing

Love the pool area. Always quiet and relaxing. Sancho's restaurant was a great addition and the reef looked like a cute tikki bar. Was our 3rd visit there.Rooms are clean but a little TLC is needed.😘
