Positive, great location at the lake and also friendly welcoming staff. It stops there.
This is NOT a grand hotel if your perception on is “Grand Hotel” premium! It’s in a desperate need of closing down for a huge restoration to be a four star “Grand Hotel”.
It’s basically the opposite of a premium!
Absolute not worth the price per night, there are many other options in the area.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is certainly grand- it’s well maintained and in a great location. The staff are exceeding only kind and accommodating. Mirko was a consummate bartender who regaled us with the history of the hotel, including fascinating anecdotes about Sir Winston and Clementine Churchill’s connection to the hotel. I definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Lake Garda!

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are large, especially in comparison to other room sizes in Italian hotels. The staff are so attentive and kind. Breakfast was wonderful over looking the lake, with lots of options and lactose free options. Excellent restaurants and cafes near by. Lovely local shops and extremely safe, quiet and the perfect holiday location. I didn’t want to leave!

I saw the Grand Hotel Gardone on a ferry boat stop on a cruise of Lake Garda two years ago and I vowed to stay here one day! It exceeded my expectations and was the perfect 3-night stay for rest and relaxation. The room was lovely and the lake view was stunning! The breakfast buffet was exceptional - one of the best of anywhere I have stayed before. It was abundant, generous, and nutritiously overflowing with Mediterranean options. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and gracious. My only disappointment was not to have a paino player in the lounge. With the lovely piano begging to be played, that would have added to the atmosphere, tremendously, and I would have lingered in the bar enjoying that music!

Amazing!!

This historic hotel, situated right on the lake, is just beautiful! The staff are attentive and welcoming. The facilities in the hotel are very good (the only thing was that there was no iron to use (or facilities for ironing clothes). I used and spent a lengthy time in their gym, which was really good. There are various options for dining outside of the hotel (some really good restaurants). There is a pharmacy, a few clothes and souvenir shops but that’s it (no other local shops/ mini supermarket). If you don’t have a car then it’s hard to see the area - and there’s a lot to see. Public transport is not that frequent but it is cheap. It’s quite away from the main town so if a quiet getaway from everything is what you want then this is ideal. I would return to the hotel for another amazing stay.

Amazing hotel. The rooms are great and big. I suggest a lake view room w/ balcony, it’s worth it. Super helpful staff. Highly recommend.

The old hotel, common space needs to be updated. Guests room were modern and clean. Nice pool and breakfast patio.

Lovely property in a beautiful setting. Super close to the ferry/bus links. Lots of lovely places to eat so close by. The hotel itself has lots of lovely areas to relax, like out by the pool and the deck by the lake. Lovely balcony overlooking the lake!

Although it is an old hotel, we had a very decent stay. If not going under a major transformation soon, it is really time to redo the rooms and bathrooms at least. Really a special bar, btw’

Beautiful hotel and our superior room with lake view was stunning. However, the hotel lacked in dining options and was expecting spa facilities and there were none. There was no atmosphere in the piano bar and not welcoming so we ate out every night.

It's a lovely old hotel. The staff is excellent and the location is really nice. My room was clean and comfortable and seemed recently updated. The property itself needs renovation and updating, but it's beautiful.

It was a last minute decision
Location is absolutely beautiful, wonderful breakfast with beautiful view Parking available across the street . Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on beachfront. It is purchased by Hilton and will be closed for two years to be renovated to be a 5 start resort and spa .

This hotel is right on the lake. Dining lakeside was a treat. The rooms are very spacious and the staff was lonely.

This is a wonderful hotel with a beautiful view of the lake. There are several great restaurants in the quaint town next to the hotel. Plenty of space to lounge by the pool and lake. A nice place for people of all ages.
4.5
Lovely setting for a “grand dame” hotel. Rooms comfortable, great views from lakefront rooms, nice pool and pool bar, lovely breakfast buffet. Close to everything, next to the ferry, lots of restaurants close by. The pool bar staff are very personable, attentive, and eager to please, as are the front desk staff.

Nice older property right on the lake with awesome views. Comfortable bedding wedding and generally nice room. Did not eat at main restaurant mainly due to the experience a breakfast. Breakfast is generally poor quality but selection was fine but For the quality. Grounds were very nice. Easy to get to and great customer service.

This was an amazing hotel right on the water with 2 dining rooms, a workout room, swimming pool and close to the village with some interesting shopping. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were 3 weddings during our 3 night stay so the hotel was full but not over crowded. We will definitely come back.

We first had a deluxe double room. Although it looked nice the wood flooring made so much noise when we walked. I was very disappointed but then Hotel upgraded our room to junior suite. A world of difference! We loved every minute of our stay and wish to go back. The view, the facility. Awesome.

The hotel facilities and staff were terrific

Hotel is a real enigma. It’s a classic building with plenty of charm and history, the bar being frequented by Winston Churchill. Location is a little quiet, botanical gardens and a few shops, restaurants close but little else. Ferry service next to side gate. Views of the lake from any in the hotel are amazing, as was watching a thunder storm over the lake.
4.5
The hotel is right on the water with easy access for swimming. There are multiple areas for sunning and relaxing. The ala carte restaurant is excellent with very helpful friendly staff. The bar is very nice with an extensive wine list. This is a large hotel with many rooms. Most rooms have lake views with small balconies. It is located on a busy street, but there is very little traffic noise. If you are looking for a small boutique hotel, this will not be to your liking.

The sense of space, and the unhurried staff, lovely views, next door to the ferry landstage.

The most wonderful hotel with old world manners and charmI really hope that I can return

Booked the Grand Hotel Gardone for 5 nights from 12/7/19 to 17/7/19 in a Superior Double Room. The pictures of the rooms you present bear little resemblance to the realities. This is not a 4 star hotel, at best it is a poor 2 star. The interior is old and tired and in need of renovation. The rooms have balcony doors that cannot be locked despite signs 'interference' around the latch. the door handle fell off as soon as it was pulled. The shower leaked copious amounts of water on to the bathroom floor due to an ill fitting cheap shower screen, the shower itself was positioned above the end of the bath which had a shelf so you cannot stand under the shower. The bed was rock hard and incredibly uncomfortable. There are very little in the way of amenities, no water provided, no iron is provided - but they will provide a pressing service at between 3 and 10 euros per garment. The breakfast consists of tinned fruit; watered down, heavily sweetened orange drink - not juice and in no way reflects the spread you advertise. To cap it off the evening 'entertainment' was a karaoke singer in the piano bar. I did complain to the hotel manager she accepted that the Hotel could be better but insisted that this is made up for by the excellent staff. There was little she could do as it is a family run business and she is just the assistant manager. This is not a £250 per it is not worth £100 per night. You are perpetuating the Hotel myth of luxury by your misrepresentation of the true picture.

This was a much needed holiday for us. The hotel was very good as was the area. A couple of very nice restaurants which were close to the hotel. Weather was good apart from one thunderstorm with wind and rain.
There was dust in the bathroom but everywhere else was very clean. One member of the bar staff seemed to be unprofessional and had his “favourite” customers. We had to go to the bar and ask for drinks, but he didn’t listen and brought us the bill to sign instead of bringing the drinks!! All other staff were excellent and very helpful booking taxis and printing boarding passes. Would stay again.

Old comfy hotel, you can feel the 80's spirit. I like it.
Clean with excellent bathroom amenities. Large rooms.
Located on a small town Gardone Riviera, immediately on the lake shore. Can be reached by bus (35 min) from the nearest train station (Desenzano).
Negative: no coffee/tea amenities in the room.
No available private car parking. (There is public car parking lot across the streat)
I would recommend it for relaxation.
