We rented this house for my son’s graduation. It was a fantastic weekend. The Japanese yard was amazing and we found new things to ponder at every turn! Shelly the tortoise put on quite the show and enjoyed lots of strawberries. Tony the owner was very informative and everything in the house and the art had a story.

Me and my friends came to this place for my bestfriends birthday and everyone was in shock on just how beautiful everything was in the house, all of his paintings and even his tortoise shelly was awesome

This was a really cool place to stay. Though it may not be for everyone and the layout was a bit strange, we really enjoyed our stay. 10 adults can sleep comfortably, including 2 elderly grandmas. The backyard is a paradise and Shelly (the Turtle) was so cool. We had a blast feeding her. Tony was a lovely host and answered all our questions. He even gave us suggestions for the area and accommodated our last-minute late check-out request.

This property was very enjoyable. Tony, the owner, is an artist who clearly has spent years loving this house, decorating it with his art and a collection of items he loves and has collected from his travels. From the art on the walls to the Japanese garden to Shelly the tortoise you never run out of things to look at, corners to explore, and places to relax. We had three different generations of family staying at the house and there was literally something for everyone to enjoy from flat screen tvs to antique and vintage furniture. We enjoyed the living room which is not large but very comfortable with plenty of seating for everyone as well as time spent sitting in the gardens in the evenings. If you are looking for a modern day cookie cutter home this is not for you but if you are looking for something distinctly Austin then this is your place. Thanks Tony for the great tour and for sharing your home and art!!

Tony was awesome. My sister and her friends fell in love with the tortoise. Beautiful art in all the the rooms. Serene back yard and meditation area. We really enjoyed playing the games he had in the living room. Would love to stay here again.

We really had a good time. It was an unusual house, eccentric and fun, and filled with really cool art. It worked great for our group and I would happily stay there again!

My family and I enjoyed staying here for Thanksgiving. There was more than enough space and we really enjoyed the creativeness of Tony’s home. He was a great host and the Japanese garden backyard was beautiful. My dogs enjoyed barking at the tortoise when they got the pleasure to encounter it. The location was amazing and the neighborhood was quiet. Thank you for sharing your home!

Thank you again Tony for a wonderful stay. We loved your eclectic home and your welcoming energy. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for your generosity and your flexibility with the check-out process, as well as the changing number of guests.
The beds were comfy, the kitchen was fully equipped, the back yard was beautiful, and the original artwork was absolutely gorgeous. There’s a fire pit in the yard, a guitar and other instruments for playing music, ample parking, and it’s close to many conveniences in the area. Thank you again for everything Tony!

This rental feels more like a home, being very comfortable, but not too tight or small for the price or location. There owner introduced us to the space, each room has a name and each art piece has a meaning and each space an intention. The backyard is a Japanese garden theme, filled with greenery, a bridge, water features , a pond with coy, and places to sit and enjoy the breezes and surrounding art. There was an extensive book collection as well, so I sat and read some poetry while listening to the water falls in the yard. Nice place!

The house had the perfect Austin vibe! It’s full of the owner’s incredible artwork. And the backyard and sitting area are so near. And, the tortoise in the backyard was really neat! The owner was very responsible and most helpful with all our needs. Perfect for our ACL weekend!

We had 10 friends that stayed here 4 nights during the ACL FESTIVAL. House was such a unique and fun place to stay! Many fun areas to gather and talk. Anything you need is available in the house. Owner was very nice and even delivered us breakfast one morning! Backyard is amazing and even had a beautiful 23 year old tortoise living in the backyard. Would love to stay there again!!! Thank you for a time we will never forget!

One of a kind home filled with sci-fi and fantasy art (by the homeowner!), books, and movies. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful backyard. And a great tortoise! Quiet street. Great location.

There were 4 women staying at the home. If there were more of us we would not have had enough space for our bathroom items. Super small main bath. Second bath was nicer but you had to walk outside to get to it. We are not used to VRBOs being someone else's home that they live in so this kind of threw us off from the beginning. There were clothes in the washing machine when we arrived and coffee pot not cleaned. Tony was a great host, super helpful and an impressive artist, we just wouldn't stay in his home again because we felt we couldn't really make ourselves too comfortable in his space.

Pros: Easy to get around Austin. The house is comfortable. We loved the turtle and enjoyed the backyard. My 3 year old daughter loved the place. Tony was very welcoming and easy to reach. Cons: place needs dusting and we had to wash things in the kitchen before we used them. We had a little bit of rain and didn’t like seeing 2 big cockroaches inside the house. Overall, good for our needs.

This was the perfect place for our Christmas holiday. The space perfectly embodies Austin. It's eclectic, quirky, artistic, and fun. The house is very comfortable and has a back yard ideal for entertaining. The location is great - close to everything - and the owner is a genuine treat. He's a talented artist and his work fills the house and outbuildings. Every inch of the space is covered with something fascinating. He's also incredibly responsive and exceedingly considerate of your needs. He had snacks and sodas waiting for us, and was there to meet us when we arrived, even though we didn't get in until after 11:00pm. We forgot a couple of things when we left, and he quickly offered to ship them back to us, at his own cost. This is where I will stay whenever I come back. If you're looking for bland uniformity, might I recommend something in a Weston. And while you're at it, skip Austin. Try Palm Springs. But if you're looking for true Austin and all the creativity, kindness, and play that entails, this is where you want to stay.
