Beautiful!
Excellent customer service. Good restaurant. Perfect location. Very cool hotel.
4.2
Expensive as all get out but a perfect complement for a weekend of racing. Clean comfortable room, serene setting, classic vibe. Shuttle driver is a nice guy.
4.2
Great well kept property. Staff is superior.
Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey but food looked awesome, unfortunately we would never eat that much for a normal breakfast.
Shuttle drivers exceeded any of our expectations.
Easy walk to SPAC. Downtown area restaurants were great, other than the panhandling going on. Will definitely stay again!

Check-in was pretty quick and easy, but the room we got keys to was dirty, with an old room service tray, so we got a different room right away, was an easy swap. The room was comfy, bed was nice. The only problem was that the next morning, I found a used insulin needle in our room by where I’d left my shoes! I turned that in to the front desk in a plastic bag. Yuck. This place is way too expensive to be so dirty.

Great property, horrible room (No.326.) Prepaid $500+ for 2 rooms (325 and 326) for special family event. 326 abutted an elevator shaft and the noise and vibration woke us up all night long. Ill-fitting blind and no black-out curtains didn’t help. No sleep!! Desk staff offered to refund us the $32 “amenities” fee. All three of us were trashed ahead of important day. No recourse, off course. Stay away!
4.2
3 night stay! Never got room cleaned or any maintenance to the room and I asked at the desk and room service employee to clean room they said yes we will do it but never came to clean room!!! Paid 500$ a night and never got room cleaned!! Not acceptable
4.2
beautiful property. room is comfy. bathroom not very upscale, counter space is small. staff is friendly, restaurant choice on Saturday was only buffet so very imited in choice. lobby coffee not very good.
4.2
Its nice to stay at the park

First time we stayed at this hotel in Saratoga. It was great, situated in the Saratoga state park (walking trails, golf and concert area). The hotel is an older building but in good shape! Check in was fast and easy and we got a free parking pass. The room had 2 queen beds and an average bathroom for this class of hotel. The room was very cleaned and cleaned well every day. The restaurant was EXCELLENT and the bar had some great drinks, service was also very well done. The hotel provides a shuttle from 7am to 11pm, takes you into town drops you off and picks you up when you're done. The staff in the hotel was friendly and courteous. It's obvious we loved this hotel and will there again next year!

We knew this was an older, historic type of hotel but it was tired looking with peeling paint and shoddy patching. The service was non-existent. It was self service for us - we had to move our bags, get the cart, return the cart etc. - no one lifted a finger to help other than to tell us where to get a cart. Also, they told us nothing about the hotel, the sights, the amenities- nada We knew it was trouble when our room wasn’t ready- we got there after 4:00, they never called to tell us when it was ready and then they gave us a room with someone else already in it! ( they did change that quickly)

Check in was slow. Need more help at desk throughout the stay. Shuttle was excellent
4.2
It’s just okay. The Gideon is showing her age. It is convenient and the shuttle down town makes your stay much easier. Room was outdated and somewhat small.
4.2
The hotel is a lovely historic hotel. So it’s not a 5 Star hotel on its own due to its age, but combined with being in such an amazing place it gets 5 stars.
4.2
We had a wonderful stay at the Gideon Putnam. We came into Saratoga to see a concert in the park. The service was fantastic. We got a ride to the venue and it was a quick nine minute walk back to the hotel after the concert. No waiting in a car lie to exit. In the morning took the shuttle into town and the race track which was super convenient, didn't need my car at all.
4.2
Great location for a concert !!
4.2
We stayed at the Gideon Putnam to see a concert at SPAC. We loved how close the walk was to the venue, which was less than 5 minutes. Prior to the concert, we had cocktails in the hotel restaurant. The cocktails were great and we were able to find a cozy porch to sit on rocking chairs and have some privacy. We compared our pre-concert “tailgating” to be akin to staying at Mohonk. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only difficulty we had was locating the thermostat in our room, which was pretty warm. I’m sure this could have been fixed if we called the hotel desk, but we arrived back to the hotel late. Overall, we LOVED staying here for a concert.

I like the park sitting that it was located in.. the room that I was in for 500 bucks a night was very very SMALL.. that bathroom was 3x3. The shower tub was so small you had to turn sideways to shower.. plus shower head so low the water hide your hip.. staff at front desk very unkelpfull plus bus into town was total JOKE!!
4.2
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is older and in need of remodeling. The room had a shade over the window that did not fit properly and allowed light in at night which was annoying. I would also recommend two chairs in the room. There was only one leaving the other person to have to sit on bed.
4.2
Loved the location in the park, very close to SPAC and the racetrack. Beautiful gardens all around. The hotel itself is charming and old-fashioned. We really appreciated the shuttle to take into town and the racetrack so as not to have to deal with driving and finding parking during the very crowded racing season.
Did not appreciate that we were not informed of the $68 "amenities fee" until checkout (the amenities inluded the shuttle and access to a fitness center which we did not use.) We were there for two nights and the room was not serviced by housekeeping. Breakfast is not inluded, but there is a very good breakfast buffet ($25 per person.)
4.2
Lovely venue.

This hotel really needs to be updated. The room was definitely showing its age. The bathroom really needs a complete overall.
4.2
It is convenient to SPAC and close to downtown, with shuttle service if needed. Front staff was polite and helpful. Room was small and outdated (broken dresser knobs, cracks in sink, no light in part of the room where the chair is). Cleaning service changed towels but didn’t really clean. Window AC unit was inconsistent. It would change the temperature from 68 to 73, for example during the night which made it hot. Had to keep resetting it to keep the room cool.
4.2
Close to the art center
4.2
If your a fan of historical landmarks and adore grace and charm you will enjoy this resort…if you crave neon lights and modern convenience at every turn…do not come. The grounds are meant for wandering and the area for viewing arts, beauty, achievement and horse races…or just horses.
4.2
Great stay, wonderful hotel in the Saratoga area.
4.2
This hotel needs some serious capital spending upgrading, looks like you could film a movie set in the 60’s without using any props to make it look like it was from that decade.
4.2
Though the hotel itself was clean it is in dire need of some drastic updates and general maintenance.
From a distance, the grounds have beautiful curb appeal all around. However, upon closer look, the gardens are a mess and very unkempt.
Our room was less than desirable. For the rate we paid it was extremely disappointing.
Plaster was falling off the walls in the bathroom, the sink clogged every time we used it, the tub-surround had cracks in it to the point someone could injure their foot, the shower head was extremely low for average sized guests. However my husband is over 6' tall and the water only reached his head.
The room itself is so small. We had nowhere to put 2 roller board size suitcases. We've only seen rooms this small one time in New York City comparing to numerous other trips there.
The poorly designed room furnishings need to be updated. We felt like we were in a college dorm room. The hallway on 2nd floor (our floor) reeked of mold or something extremely unfavorable.
Website photos and in speaking to other guests we found the pool situation was misleading. We all thought it was a private pool. Not a shared semi-public pool.
All in all we are extremely disappointed with how mislead we were by website and how broken down the property actually is. We will not return.

Lots of potential but a little rundown
4.2
Great property and staff
4.2
Overall the stay was excellent with a few minor annoyances. We had to change room because of the noise coming from the next room. The closet for the second room was in the bathroom. The light switch was outside the bathroom. If you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you had to turn on the light from the outside of the room, waking the person who was asleep.
4.2
Property is quite tired, tiny bathroom, only breakfast option was the full buffet.
4.2
Very nice stay and beautiful landscape
4.2
Great location, lousy hotel. Really wanted to love this place with its vintage architecture and amazing location. But it’s average at best. Staff didn’t appear happy. Could hear the neighboring rooms like they were in the same room. But most importantly the bar was closed after the SPAC concert we went to see. Poor business decision
4.2
Great old hotel with wonderful vibe. Only complaint was price - gouge pricing in play with the track running down the road..loved the shuttle service which took us to both the track and to the downtown area upon request.
4.2
Nice facility. Restaurant is not good.
4.2
This hotel is very well organized, clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is located in the heart of Saratoga State Park. There is a restaurant and bar as well as a shuttle to take you anywhere you like and to the horse races. The bed was very comfortable. Site is well maintained. Will stay here again.
4.2
Beautiful resort, spacious, clean & conveniently located to nearby attractions
4.2
Historic hotel , park setting and better than first class maintenance and service . Top marks .
4.2
Nice hotel with beautiful grounds. Room was small but comfortable … however there is only 1 elevator and you must wait about 10 minutes for it to come. The elevator makes so much NOISE that you can hear it clearly in the room going up and down all day and night. If you are a light sleeper it will keep you awake!!! Even at the far end of the hallway the elevator can be heard.
Not a big issue but ask for a room as far away from the elevator as possible. We will return as the amenities and ground out weigh this.

Everything was great but the bathroom!
