I liked that the hotel is right in front of the beach. You do not have to cross the street to be at the beach. The personal was friendly and the property itself was safe with gates and security watching cars and people that came in and out.

Great location! The beach access from the hotel is a plus! Breakfast was great! I do wish there was an adult pool only since they have a kid pool already. The general pools were full of many kids which is not the best for a couple without kids.

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel. It’s in an excellent location, right in the Golden Zone where all the entertainment is, and steps away from the malecon. The hotel itself is very beautiful. A little outdated but still very nice. I loved that it has a cenote. Breakfast was delicious. I stayed in a standard room; it was very spacious. The only downside was that it did not have a refrigerator which I needed. Bathroom needs better lighting and a magnifying mirror. The air conditioning leaked, leaving a puddle outside the bathroom. I did report it and maintenance had to come and fix it twice. Staff did offer me to change to a different room, but since I only had 2 night more to go, I just stayed in the same room. Overall, the hotel is great. I would definitely go back.

The hotel is clean! Our housekeeper introduced herself by name on our first day. She worked 6 days a week, and gave us a sincere farewell on our last day. Incredible level of attention from Carmen. Carmen gets 5 stars!
This place is a party! There are live bands on the beach (yes, several), and a DJ bumping at the pool. If you like a quiet nap in the middle of the day, then this is not the place for you.
They also hosted kid friendly entertainment at the pool. We don't have kids but we enjoyed the game room with ping pong and fooz ball.
They sell day passes to people not staying at the hotel. So the pools get quite crowded.
Guests must wear wristbands, even if you did not get the all inclusive deal. This did not suit us for our long stay. The wrist bands get you into the hotel complex, which is walled off from the street. The gate guard checks for wristbands after dark to gain access.
The food options are limited if you do not get the all inclusive wristband. Some of the restaurants/bars/snack shacks do not take money- only the color-coded all inclusive wristband. The food is ok. Generally, the restaurants nearby were better.
Amateur hour at the spa.
Someone combs the beach each morning and rakes up the trash. Excellent touch 👌
This place has basically everything you would need if you don't want to leave. If you do want to leave the hotel, they also have a concierge, a tour desk, and somehow a 3rd sales desk. So they can get you into town too.

Hotel Playa Mazatlan has its charm. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, but the bathrooms could definitely use some updating – the tiles felt old and there was mold in the shower ceiling that had been painted over. We had a beautiful oceanfront room with a large balcony, but unfortunately there was no minibar, so we didn't use it as much as we could have. The food was good, with a wide variety for breakfast and lunch, and dinner often had an extra restaurant option. We especially enjoyed the Fiesta Mexicana dinner show that was included in our all-inclusive package. The beach was lovely and clean, with plenty of palapas for shade. However, the provided chairs were very uncomfortable. The all-inclusive drinks were a bit of a letdown. They were served in small plastic cups that gave everything a bit of an off-taste, and the beer selection was limited. Thankfully, drinks at the specialty restaurants were much better. The staff was friendly overall, though some spoke limited English. One frustrating aspect was having to pay for a day pass to use the pool area after checking out at 11 am, even though we had a few hours to wait before our airport departure. Overall, Hotel Playa Mazatlan is a good value, but just be aware of the potential drawbacks, like the outdated bathrooms and some inconveniences with the all-inclusive amenities.

Hotel Playa Mazatlán is a safe and comfortable environment. The staff is very competent and friendly, and we were treated with dignity and respect. We really enjoyed our stay.

The place was great overall. Wonderful pools except the hot tubs were cold. Great place for kids. The beach was nice.
The rooms were nice but the beds are as hard as rocks. Nice location. You can walk anywhere.
