Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was fine and bed comfy. However it was very cold in the room and the heating system didn’t seem to do anything. This was a last resort booking, don’t think I’d stay here again.

Great short stay at the Copthorne whilst visiting Newcastle & Gateshead for a Christmas shopping weekend. Very nice hotel on the waterside, away from all the usual hustle but very easy to find and close enough to walk into the centre within 15-20 mins. The price for 2 nights was very affordable and the room was great for the price, spacious and warm with comfy beds, a very decent shower and enormous TV screen. We didn't eat at hotel as we had early starts and late returns but the food choices on offer looked reasonable. Unfortunately the weather was against us with storm Darragh hitting the area so we couldn't visit a lot of the places we'd planned for, but there are great shops, pubs and restaurants in Newcastle & Gateshead so you don't have to be outdoors . Will definitely return to this area and hotel when the decent weather comes.

Staff were so friendly and the look of the hotel was great, room size was amazing!
The issue we had was the bathroom seat had urine on it and the sink tap had toothpaste down the handle.
The lamps were all unplugged and other than on the desk in the room we had no where to actually plug something in like phone chargers unless leaving the lamps unplugged and as there are no roof lights other than in the entrance to the room this was difficult.
The heating was great but made suck a bad noise and dropped all night so turned off the heating over night so was quite cold.

Such friendly staff on reception. Its a dated hotel and the hot breakfast is appalling. On a positive there is a car park and football in thr bar.

We stayed at a Copthorne hotel in Chiswick which was fabulous. The decor, the amazing bathroom, the well thought out spacious and well equipped bedroom. We were hugely disappointed with the Newcastle Copthorne. The room was very tired and the bathroom was so horribly old fashioned and worn. I did ask if we could move to a more modern room and was told that they were all the same. We did not notice the system of hanging traffic light information outside our door for our room to be cleaned or not so our room remained unmade. This just seems an easy way to have a reduced staff level and the queue at checking in and at breakfast demonstrated this to be true. I would not recommend this hotel until it has an overhaul.

Hotel is looking a bit tired, bathroom could do with an update. But good position and well priced car park.

The car park attached to the hotel is owned by another company. It is very very confusing as the website says £12.50 for 24 hours but when we paid £12.50 at 12.40 pm it says it was valid till 4.50 pm. A sign said something about redeeming your ticket at reception. The receptionist said we shouldn’t have bought a ticket and we should have gone to reception first , yet there is a massive 4 foot sign in the foyer and next to pay station saying pay on entry. Initially both the receptionist and manager said we would have to pay again as the car park is nothing to do with them and then the receptionist exclaimed , oh I’ve remembered we can put you the hours in free till tomorrow. We won’t be coming back.

Room view was of the river but at an angle through small door window - not directly onto the river
Bar staff good

We booked as the description said the room had a river view. Unfortunately, we were given a side room so overlooking the bins but we could see the river! We were hoping for a front facing room as per the photos and description. The room was large though and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good apart from the veggie sausages. It was good value though. Very helpful staff

Would have been a perfect place.
Staff lovely, lovely rooms, great location, easy to park, amazing price.
But the food was poor. Got a perfectly cooked grilled chicken, chips, mushrooms, and tomato, however there was enough salt on the plate to kill the entire UK slug population.
Considering there is a salt shaker on every table, why shlack someones dinner with it?
By time my food came out they had stopped the kitchen so couldnt be bothered asking for it to be replaced, like why does my tomato have salt all over it? Cant decide if this is normal, or the kitchen did it as i ordered 10 mins before the kitchen closed.
then at breakfast the sausages were cooked on the outside, but cut into them and they were pinker than nellie the elephant.
On the upside I had so much salt in my system I managed the 5 hour drive home without having to stop for a pee. Every cloud and that.
Would recommend the hotel otherwise. As was a amazing room and location on the river. Slept well and staff were great.

The room we booked was an executive suite but there was dust and bits near the window that hadn’t been hoovered or dusted Janet the breakfast Manager I found her to be quite rude and not helpful unlike the receptionist who was lovely and most helpful

The hotel decor is definitely dated and worn. Not to current device charging standards elsewhere. Great location. Was disappointed when I approached the front desk asking if I could purchase some chocolate and they referred me to the travellodge lobby next door or a local shop....at 10:30 PM.

Hotel was clean, but very tired in places. The shower in our room was broken, the bathroom was very dated and very tired. Bed and pillows were comfy and clean

One night only so we could go to the theatre.

Little disappointed that we were given 1 double bed in each room rather than 2 single beds that i had booked. Unsure if this was bad communication between hotels.com and the hotel or the hotel just didn't have 2 singles available. Didn't bother saying as we made it work.

Second time staying here. Hotel is in a great location. Had a room on the 5th floor overlooking the river. Room was comfortable. We weren't told we were in an room with 2 adjoining doors - would have preferred not be. Also shower / bath could do with an upgrade. The shower curtain was not much use in stopping the floor getting soaking wet. Breakfast is self-service and was very tasty. Check in and check out were really straightforward. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay check in very quick. Great room overlooking the tyne ,very closed to lots of great restaurants and bars .hotel bar prices very reasonable

The hotel staff were very helpful at all times, the breakfast was very good with a good selection, the main meeting areas of the hotel were very good. The room that we stayed in let the hotel down and could really do with a modernisation and upgrade, beds were comfy but little things like plug sockets next to bed etc was missing. Overall the hotel was ok, food was good but rooms could do with an upgrade and TLC.

The accommodations were exceptional, with a breathtaking view and outstanding service. The staff demonstrated utmost helpfulness and professionalism. The bed provided remarkable comfort, ensuring a restful stay. The room was thoughtfully equipped with amenities that enhanced the overall experience, including an efficient air conditioning system and well-designed lighting that created an ideal ambiance. In summary, the stay was flawless and exceeded expectations.

Tea coffee and water in room.10 mins from shops but hotel on quayside with numerous bars and restaurants near by. Breakfast both mornings delicious. Helpful staff

The rooms are spacious and face the river (beautiful views). Mattress good quality. Bathrooms need an update but clean and functional. Cooked breakfast very good (although croissants and coffee disappointing). Staff super friendly and professional.
