Fabulous location and not sure if it’s a chateau or castle - but it is an amazing location, has brilliant staff and the food is exquisite - chef is one of the owners and you can tell it’s his passion…

The Medieval Castle was beautiful and the views are spectacular. Hortense was such a pleasant to deal with. She makes sure we have everything we have, answered all our questions and very welcoming.
The food was delicious, we would go back.

Very unique location! Excellent locally sourced breakfast from the village. The food was a great experience with new and innovative dishes! If you are looking for a fun new experience in a historic castle, I would recommend.

Amazing hotel, with great views and great service from the employees. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent too.

Magnificent stay at the Trigance Castle. We miss it already! Perfect location next to the Verdon canyon, near the start of the best hiking spots in the area and fun activities you can find around Castellane. The view from the castle is astonishing, the food is delicious and the hotel team is very nice. You'll find there a unique ambient in this old medieval castle on top of a lovely little village. I personally really enjoyed the nights on the roof terrace watching the full moon and the ballet of the nighthawks, lying on a lounge chair, with a glass of Farigoule (local thyme liquor). The only bad point was the wasps on the terraces during the day. I believe it was new for the owners and I'm sure they will take care of that in the near future. Also, installing the air conditioning in the bedrooms would add some comfort for the guests.

Sleeping on a castle like the Lord and Lady of 700 years ago! Great staff, amazing views!

Having read many reviews I was not sure what to expect from the Chateau.
It certainly looked impressive as we approached (it can be seen from miles away) and it looked equally impressive close up.
Some say it is not really an old Castle, but parts of the building does date back many hundreds of years, and the 1970's renovations that brought it back in to use have been sympathetic the original style so it is a winner in my opinion.
Some may feel the lack of original 800 year old artefacts and furniture in the rooms is a let-down, but we enjoyed the efforts of the owners to provide a taste of the past - combined with running water and en-suite bathroom ;-)
Our room was also very large and spacious with great views from the windows, it was also clean and comfortable.
The food was also very good, and we particularly enjoyed breakfast on the balcony. in the morning.

Lovely overnight stay in amazing surroundings. Delicious meal. There is no bar, pre dinner drinks only available after 7 so if you would like a drink before that bring a bottle and sip something lovely onthe beautiful terrace! .

The renovated old castle was really cool- I stayed there for the novelty but was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful terrace, great views, large spacious room with a great bathroom, and good restaurant. Everyone was super nice too. Recommend

What an experience! We got to sleep in a real 10th century castle! The renovations are so impressive and the rooms are beautiful - absolutely no concerns that this is anything less than stellar, on par with any other hotel in terms of comfort and amenities. Waking up to the sun streaming over than ramparts was amazing! We enjoyed every second of our stay, as there is plenty to explore, fantastic food at the restaurant, and wonderful staff. Highly recommended and so unique!

Stunning views from the Castle up close the building was a bit concrete.(its only 40 or so years old)Stunning views Nasty smell from the bathroom possible drain issue. Whilst the views at breakfast on the terrace were great felt it was a bit overpriced . Thought overall that the castle was a bit pretentious

Amazing location. Far from everything. The surrounding darkness & silvence is impressive at night.

Lovely place! Well worth a visit, very quiet and a beautiful view all around. Quaint rooms, ours had a peaceful and very private little terrace. Restaurant ok but avoid the meat dishes; steak was tough and my agneau was really a very fatty mouton - great local wine though - Chateau de Sarrins . Good base for exploring the Verdon gorges.

Only stayed one night, but the facility was really charming, the views were great, the restaurant was worth the money, and the location near the Verdon Gorge is hard to beat. Did not get breakfast at the hotel, but found that Trigance has its own boulangerie which was more than suitable for the morning meal.

Plus points - hotel is on a hilltop with panoramic views. In some cases, the view is right outside your bedroom door on the rooftop terrace. Breakfast is served there on fine warm days. Great if you are after a medieval themed experience; the unique castle setting is complemented by the interior of the hotel all the way through to a canopy over the bed. The restaurant is OK too.
Don't expect views of the Verdon - you are in a side valley which is more pastoral in nature and in some directions the lofty vantage point serves to highlight the scarring effect of the road-way that brought your there, though there is a view towards the Verdon that hints at the dramatic scenery just 20 minutes down the road.
The hotel is unique but seems dated, a little kitcsh. If you are just looking for a relaxed stay with good scenery and the possibility of good food, you should be able to find better value for money at one of the other hotels in the area, perhaps nearer to Castellane.

From the first moment we saw the chateau, after an incredible drive along the Gorges du Verdun, we were amazed. It felt very special to be staying in such an iconic building. We decided to eat our evening meal in the chateau's restaurant to make the experience complete. The atmosphere was hushed but not stiff, and our young waiter was helpful and charming. The peace and quiet had to be experienced, all the guests seemed to respect each others' desire to have a very special experience. We decided against breakfast but the evening meal was delicious - I am still drooling over the dessert! One little thing - the greeting on arrival could have been a little warmer. It was efficiently done and would be adequate anywhere else but this was such a special experience that we wished this could have been special too.

The evening meal was over priced. However, apart from that you would have an excellent experience at this hotel (castle). We would certainly return & recommend to friends.

We had driven past it before, so we knew it was a fantastic location, but it went beyond all expectations. We were a little lucky from the start having booked the day before and getting put in room 2 that had a four poster type bed and private patio, but that was far from the best. After checking in, we went up to the terrace for drinks with unbelievable scenery, and with only ten rooms, you get to know the other visitors. Then were was a first class meal in an cave like dining room. None of this, though, came close to matching a great outdoor breakfast with that great scenery still all around us. We travel a lot with homes in Europe and the US, and my wife and I agree, this is one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had.

Real medieval castle with a nice view to the valley.
There is a very good restaurant marked in Michelin guide.

Delightful Hotel in a delightful village. The hotel is terrific and the dining room a wondeful experience.

This beautiful medieval castle is the perfect place to start your tour of the Gorges du Verdun. There is something magical about awakening in a beautifully appointed room of vaulted stone with the bright Provencel sunshine pouring through the windows. The bed was very comfortable and the antiques and tapestries were carefully chosen to give the room an air of authenticity. We were fortunate to enjoy two dinners at the chateau, both of which were outstanding. The page menu was my favorite...the duck was awesome. But we tried both the troubador and the Knight as well...all truly delicous creations. The mushroom soup was so fresh and made from wild mushrooms. Delicious. The cheese tray is lots of fun, with the wait staff explaining each cheese. Classy.
The staff was very helpful explaining how to get to the Gorge du Verdun and how long the day would take. Everyone here was truly professional; helpful but not intrusive. The top of the castle is a great place to relax with stunning views over the valley. The castle is not wheel chair accessible. It is afterall at the top of a mountain.
