What a pleasant 14 night stay in La Verniaz! The location is perfect if you have a car. The funicular is only 200 meters away from hotel and it takes you down and back very easily.
The swimming pool was big enough for proper swimming. The room was really big and the balcon too. Extra points for large flat-tv! The staff was wonderfully helpful and nice! Great stay at this very french style hotel.

The staff were wonderful and warm. The views from our terrace were lovely and it was a very homey experience. The food was phenomenal and access to the other resort properties and to the lakeside area was convenient.

Beautiful stay, the staff was very friendly and the setting was beautiful

We reserved at one of the Chalets and had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The funicular was convenient for going to Evian.

The Property felt like a secluded Country Retreat, but was in the City of Evian. The Staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. The Property was very quiet and private.

Great room, service and breakfast.
Dogs are also welcome, which makes it the best choice for us in this beautiful region.

The hotel is well located. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was well balanced and all products fresh. Employees, very kind. Overall, very good.

The reception and whole staff here are wonderful and will help you with anything. Answered any questions we had. They have a free shuttle service which helped us out the most!

A fantastic place for a family weekend get away. Set in a beautiful and quiet setting on the outskirts of Evian. Fantastic facilities and very friendly staff. The on-site restaurant is excellent.

Hotel based in lovely grounds, friendly staff, good choice at breakfast. Walking distance to the train that takes you directly into the centre of Evian - free of charge.

Very nice stay - well located (if you have a car) and great views of Dent D’Oche. Good swimming pool for kids when weather is hot.

Nice mid-range hotel with an exceptional kitchen. The food was Michelin-style! Poor internet connection and the only hotel I have stayed at - ever - where there was no English language TV stations, only and solely French stations.

One night stay in two. Nice and 100 years old hotel with a lot of attractions: horse riding, golf, swimming pool etc. It is very French hotel.....and worth to stay for a weekend. Close distance to Evian thermal bad. Good restaurant.

In a quiet accessible area - very restful. Would like to spend more time here. Gardens and facilities well looked after.

A good two night stay. Unfortunately the restaurant only served rotisserie on the Thursday evening of our stay and no a la carte menu available. Therefore we had to eat out in Evian. However the hotel meal on Friday evening was exceptionally good.

We stayed at the Verniaz for three days in a cute chalet in the extensive grounds of the hotel. We loved our chalet which had everything we could have wished for - cosy living room with wood fire stove, large balcony with sun beds, the bedroom had a huge very comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with bath and separate shower. There were other lovely more elegant hotel buildings in the grounds (bel epoque ?). The food was excellent and well presented - but we had to wait a long time for it to arrive.

Nice rooms and a great swimming pool.
Restaurant is too expensive.
Difficult to find. No other restaurants near-by

stayed here for a wedding party at another (more expensive) resort down the road. Lovely room, and easy to access Evian (assuming you've got a car).

Comfortable and large room. Theres bathtub, yet shower could be better if there is a higher hanging hook for the shower head.

We really loved Verniaz and the town of Evian. The hotel literature mentioned a 15 minute walk to the lake, but didn’t mention the 5 minute walk to the fenicular. It was awesome! Service honestly couldn’t have been better!

We were given a very spacious family room above the restaurant in the main part of the hotel. The rooms were nicely decorated with an antique furniture look. Overall the rooms were clean, but the shower are could have been bit better maintained, as there were black mildew marks on the tiles. The generous balcony overlooked a private set of tennis courts not related to the hotel, and although the view to the gardens was nice, the cries from the tennis players in the background were not as pleasing. The main problem we had with the hotel was the fact that this four star establishment did not have air conditioning! It was a very hot time of the year and all we were provided with were fans, that did not help much during the very humid and warm nights. When asking the reception to move us to another room with A/C I was told none of their rooms had it! This gave us a couple of difficult nights of sleep, and on the second night one of our kids came to sleep in our room, as we had two fans, and the room she was sharing with her sister was too hot.Provided you are not bothered by hot weather, the hotel offers nice pleasant rooms and staff, but if you visit them in summer, there are probably other 4* properties in the area where you will be able to get a good nights sleep with air conditioning.

Didnt stay long enough to really enjoy the hotel itself, but was comfortable, and I liked the private double balcony for space (and the loungers)and large bath. Felt I could have spent a comfortable few days there.

I HAD A VERY NICE AND RELAXING STAY

This hotel and its grounds is charmingly old-fashioned, friendly and comfortable, but in our view it is showing its age in significant parts, and is currently more 3* than 4*. It is in need of further modernisation. Our room was a pleasant and comfortable double - though wed asked in fact for a twin room - nevertheless some fixtures and fittings were very old and rather shabby, which spoiled what could be a great experience. We had well over an hours wait for our main course in the restaurant on our first night - as did a number of the other unfortunate diners that evening (probably because the staff and kitchen were pre-occupied with a large-ish group in a separate dining room, but really no excuse for that delay). No apology or explanation was given, nor any rebate offered. So we gave the restaurant a miss after that. (Especially as the menu prices were quite high.) Breakfast was pleasant enough, if really just continental (plus eggs if wanted, but no other hot food), and self-service coffee - where the machine never delivered anything really hot. There was no hospitality tray in the room (not unusual in France, we know) but the staff did eventually deliver one, plus a jug of milk for the fridge/mini-bar, albeit we had to ask for re-stocking of tea/coffee sachets. The (ageing) mini-bar was handy, though never re-stocked/replenished during our six-night stay. And items were ridiculously expensive, so after consuming a few we bought our own drinks/snacks.

The staff were all excellent and made the stay most enjoyable. Restaurant was lovely as was the food. Most delightful stay. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Dont tell the staff at Verniaz, but my wife and I think they mixed our reservations up with some royal couple. From the moment we arrived, through our stay, to our departure, the staff catered to our every need like we were the King and Queen of Savoie. In all seriousness though, the service was beyond compare and I think we took more pictures of our B&B than of Evian.

Ive stayed at La Verniaz for the past 7 years now and love it more with each visit! Its a family run operation that gives you the sense of a home away from home. The staff is completely flexible with anything you may need. The rooms are spacious, with country furnishings, beautiful bedding and linens, amazing toiletries and towels in the bathroom. The restaurant has a wonderful courtyard to sit and enjoy lunch or dinner. The food is 5 star! Truly one of the best restaurants in Evian. And out of every window is the most beautiful landscaping you can imagine, which gives you a view of the hills and the lake. Its a wonderful place in every sense of the word - I will always stay at the La Verniaz.
