Disaster from start to finish!
Plumbing was diabolical. The noise of pipes, the vibrations shaking the whole hotel was unreal. My parents did not get any sleep for two nights and all the staff could say was sorry but carry out no work to resolve the extreme loud noise.
The cleanliness was poor.
Th breakfast was not very good whatsoever and once they ran out of items they had nothing to replenish.
Oh I could go on but why bother.

Unfortunately the worst night we have ever had in a hotel. The plumbing in our room was resonating all night. Sounded like a kango hammer. Greeted on arrival by kitchen staff who appeared to be doing various jobs. Not at all helpful. We tried to speak to the duty manager before we checked out but we're politely informed that there wasn't one and that our concerns would be passed on. We were told that the duty manager would ring us on Monday the next day. Guess what no call. So I am left with this posting. Perhaps we were unlucky but a call would have been nice. I did make a 14 second recording of the horrible noise but this site doesn't seem to be able to take anything but photos..

Very disappointed, I was in an annex room, which was cold, needed thicker curtains. Breakfast was extremely poor, only hot food left was 3 sausages, 1 egg and about a spoonful of beans. Soup bowls for the cereals, only 1 toaster. Only 1 member of staff to clear tables, replenish hot food it was totally unacceptable. Other members of my family that stayed that night also had complaints. My son in law and wife hardly slept, were disgusted by the breakfast and left. The room rates are too low, £53 for a double room including breakfast for 2 people is rediculously low. There needs to be more staff to have breakfast running smoothly. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

1 night business stay. Plenty of parking, friendly check-in, clean room. We booked a twin room and the bed was tiny. Evening restaurant was not open but other places to eat were only a short walk away. Cooked breakfast was ok. Will stay there again!

The twin room we stayed in was ok. The beds were a little worn and one of the
covers on the bed had a stain on it that looked like blood. Only a small amount, but nonetheless visible.
Breakfast was a total letdown. We were told breakfast was from 8-10am. We arrived at 9.15am to find there was hardly any of the cooked breakfast left. We had to clear a table ourselves to sit down. Another guest asked for some fresh breakfast to be put out and this took over half an hour to arrive. It came in dribs and drabs so people weren’t able to put their food on their plates as a complete breakfast. There was hardly any bread for toast and no butter. The breakfast (when it finally all arrived!) was very basic sausage, bacon, fried egg and beans. The tables were not given a wipe between customers. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

Comfortable bed and cleanliness of room was fine. Hotel looked tired and needed sprucing up. Breakfast was poor - low level chairs and tables to eat off. Dirty plates not cleared away. Poor choice of cereal and canisters nearly empty . No sausage, bacon, egg, tomatoes or mushrooms; the only hot food in the serving trays were beans and hash browns. Had to ask for the trays to be replenished and for clean plates to be brought out and had to wait 10 minutes for this and the only member of staff on duty that we saw only brought out bacon during this time. Could understand if this was at the end of breakfast, but this 30 minutes into the service.

Was very good breakaway.

Hotel is very unkempt in areas. Poor experience from the beginning as signage and lighting outside very poor. Garden untidy and overgrown.
Not We had an executive room which had no hot water, one reading lamp or very bright spot lights, tv only had bbc 1 even when I returned it only got other bbc channels. Room clean but public areas very dirty and scruffy. Very sad as could be a nice hotel with the right management.

The room was fine for the price. The bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water.
The breakfast area was very poor with limited tables and seating. There were cereals and sausages, bacon on eggs. On the first morning the hot food ran out and it took a while for it to be replenished. On our second morning there were no eggs. The tables were not cleaned between customers, just knives and forks put down on crumb covered tables.
This could be a nice hotel with a bit of attention to detail.

Run down former country club hotel. Needs a massive investment to bring it up to a teach. The staff were helpful in their apologies, bu couldn’t actually solve anything. The breakfast was so poor and disorganised that we went out on the second day and purchased our own breakfast at an extra cost to ourselves.
Such a shame, as a great location!

I could not stay in the first room I was given, it was grubby, surfaces not wiped, stained furniture, tap handle missing! The shower head was caked in dirt and the Shower curtain was discussing . There were cobwebs and dust.
The reception ladies are lovely and organised another room( executive suite.) I actually felt sorry for them! This room was in a separate block across the courtyard however, when I went to enter the main building in the morning the door was locked and I had to knock on the dining room window for attention to be let in the hotel! Again the staff were apologetic.
Again the new room also had a dirty bathroom with a toilet that didn’t flush! Cobwebs and a spider in my bed when I pulled the sheet back!
There was a storm whilst I was there and it sounded like something was banging in the loft area above my room, this woke me a couple of times. Breakfast did not consist of gluten free options as requested and also there was no cooked food available unless you had time to wait. On the last morning of 3 hot breakfast was laid out but there was no gluten free options. Staff were scarce and customer were scrambling around for plates, cutlery, a chair etc.

Excellent position in a nice village with a lot of amenities but the property was a bit worn out and there were lumps and bumps in extra room for breakfast which can be a trip hazard. There was no hot water so my partner and I have debated whether to take a shower or not. We ended up having no shower in the morning.

Delux double room 2 guests. This was an awful experience. I've waited so long to submit my review because i have been waiting for a response from the general manager but even after visisting to complain the following week they have still not been in touch. From the start our stay was not great. On check in the room was dirty, waste food items were left in the cupboards, the complimentary toiletries had been used and left in disarray. There were minimal electrical sockets and the one we had acseas to i was scared to use as it was hanging out of the wall. I took this information to the reception, the staff were polite and offered an alternative room. This was cleaner and more comfortable though half the lights in the bathroom didn't work, there was an issue with hot water so the taps in the sink and the shower were tepid at best. The bath tub ran hot but the plug had a poor seal so after 5 minutes of sitting the bath it was 2 thirds empty. On our final night a function below us disturbed us which culminated in a violent interaction between guests and a large plant pot being thrown theough a window directly below us. This left my partner shaken up and scared. On check out reitterated all theae issues to the staff who claimed they had no power to do anything and agreed to pass this on to the general manager who would email me about my complaint. I waited a week but didnt hear anything. I found an email adress for the GM and visited the hotel later that week but still had no reply

The property was covered in spider webs and our ground floor room was dark and there were several spiders in our room. We asked at the front desk if they could move us to a different room which they did - but there were spiders in that room too. On the second night in this room my husband woke up when a spider ran over his face, at which point we decided to check out. The property ownets need to get a pest control company in. We were careful not to leave windows open and yet we still had spiders in the room. It was the most horrendous stay in a hotel I've ever had and I travel a lot for work so I spend a lot of time in hotels.

A strange place. Breakfast served in a glass conservatory which was overly bright and uncomfortably hot.

Our room was on top of a wedding venue which played loud music until midnight. The front desk lied and said it would finish at 11 when we complained. There was no mention of this on booking. The supervisor said we would be refunded but would not do it while we were there but made excuses. Still waiting for a weekend. Avoid on Saturday nights!

Very run down, poor restaurant, pleasant staff but the hotel is very tired.

The stay was ok but it was let down particularly at breakfast time as quite a few items ran out and we had to keep asking for more supplies. Having said that, the breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful and willing. This could be a very nice hotel if the decor was freshened up. The room was a good size with good facilities, comfy bed, nice sized bathroom.

I booked 2 rooms in this hotel 3 months ago for a one night stay with early check in for my daughter’s graduation from Loughborough University. I spoke to the hotel 3 days before to confirm our early check in. We drove for 3 hours to get there only to be told our booking had been cancelled. No apology, no explanation just that the rooms had been cancelled by the hotel the day before. I had received no communication from them or Expedia. The receptionist tried to help but the manager, Syad, was unapologetic, dismissive and couldn’t care less that this was an important day for us and this could ruin it for us all.
He kept just shrugging and saying we had to talk to Expedia rather than trying to understand the distress this was causing us and at no point did he apologise.
AVOID this hotel at all costs, I have never had a hotel cancel on the day before arrival before and to be uncaring about it as well was unforgivable.

Very nice hotel, quiet and beautiful setting. Surprised that room wasn't made up across the 3 nights and whilst the breakfast was good some items not available on last two days. Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel to stay.

We had an enjoyable stay here. Room was to a good, clean standard and a good size. Plenty of plug sockets. Comfy beds but a flat sheet on the mattress was a nuisance during the night. Light quality was poor for putting on make up and only one set of towels for two guests supplied but that was easily put right. Reception staff polite & friendly and check in was quick and seamless.
Breakfast was very good with plenty of food choices.
We would definitely stay here again.
One small suggestion, a magnifying mirror in the bathroom would have been useful.
Many thanks for a pleasant stay.
