Need renovation since 1970

The hotel was old and very cool. We checked in very late ant night, and The young man at the front was very nice, but it took a long time to check in and we didn’t have heat (although he tried to fix the space heater) and could not get extra blankets bc housekeeping had already closed. Otherwise, it was lovely.

Old Hotel But In A Good Location

We were first struck by the ambiance of this period hotel, dating back almost 100 years. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member on check-in and were told where to find what we might need, including nearby restaurants and shops. Coffee was available any time with a Keurig, but when I needed a cup of hot water the same man got it for me. We couldn't find the t.v. remote, and one was immediately supplied. The bed was comfortable, as was the sitting room. We will definitely return to Hotel Coolidge if in the area again.

We are always happy with our stays at Coolidge Hotel. Charming, cosy, quiet and in such a special Vermont town with character and great restaurants. The staff are wonderful and helpful, and the rooms are well-kept.

Nice simple charming older hotel

Nice nostalgic hotel in a quaint Vermont town.

The proprietor was curt but pleasant. The bed were hard and squeaky. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything going on in the hallway. I’m not sure however what other places there were to stay. It was good enough for the one night we stayed there.

I’m always looking for a place to stay with some history to it. This place provides that. Plus the area around our hotel was full
Of history.

Too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was supposed to be included but you only get a ticket worth $ 4.50 per person redeemable at one of the three restaurants on the same street. So you get a coffee and pay the rest of your breakfast!

The hotel is built in the 19th century. Very spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. I slept very well on them. Great location. Near the gorge, covered bridges and not far from the town of Woodstuck. Highly recommend!
1.5
A basic hotel that was clean, however, be aware that the trains pass very close and are very noisy at night. If you are into nostalgia and trains, this is probably your thing!

Shower and toilet are nowhere near any code in any century. A toilet that sits inside the shower is ridiculous. There are 2 sides missing to the shower and a short curtain using the same floor as the toilet is beyond absurd. The shower water would surround the toilet. Toilet had no knee room so must sit sideways into shower curtain. New bath remodel should be required to rent. Also a portable heater from the closet as the only heat source in Vermont?

It is an old hotel but very good condition. We liked our room and had a pleasant stay there The staff is very friendly and helpful, and we would recommend the place to our friends

hotels.com listed as having a pool when I reserved. There is not a pool. The advertisements are misleading. This hotel operates as a hostel and long term/temporary housing, shelter vibes. There was an orange needle cap on the hall floor. The bed was new and good water pressure, the only good things I have to say about this place. It’s incredibly dated, has multiple weird mildew/mold type smells throughout. Carpet is likely as old as the building itself, there were signs telling the residents of the hostel they are not allowed to use cooking devices in their rooms for risk of fire. Check in took a bit and my daughter was so sad to learn there wasn’t a pool, when I booked I had filtered to ONLY look at hotels with pools and confirmed at that time in the amenities that this hotel had one, upon check in I asked and was told no. Staff asked where I saw that because I was the second person this week to ask. I didn’t feel like the room door was secure and barricaded it for our one night stay, I was traveling alone with my daughter and just had a weird feeling like this wasn’t a safe place for us to be. Some of the other (what I assume were long term guests) only further upset my nerves, my daughter and I explored each floor of the hotel since it’s an old/historic building, my daughter looked through drawers in common areas and found a sharp wooden thing and she literally said “mom, are they gonna kill us?” I assured her no. Totally ripped off. I paid $160+ but rate today was $95.

Old and historical. Good for one night stay.

It is an old hotel which lacks modern comfort. But their front desk employees are fantastic and eager to help you in anyway.

Was a last minute reservation as we arrived a day early to previous hotel and couldn’t get a room ! This inn is old and shows beautiful character of the past! Was very nice except rusted drain in bathtub !

It's an older hotel with lots of character. Don't expect a holiday inn express experience but more if an old world classic hotel one

Hotel Coolidge is a bargain stay in the Upper Valley in a growing White River Junction. This is a historic property and has a lot of charm. The greeting from the front desk was friendly, personable, and helpful. There are good connections to local businesses.
This is not a property to book if you need the latest amenities and well appointed rooms. Our room was comfortable and we slept well. The room was also lacking in furniture and outlets and most certainly is overdue for paint and carpet. The bathroom was similarly in need of an upgrade.
If you are fine with a stay in a historic building with character and friendly staff and not hung up on spit and polish, this is a good option.

Clean heritage property. They had super friendly staff and I would stay again.

We love staying in historic hotels. Don’t bother staying here. Beds are squeaky and uncomfortable. Pillows are extremely flat. AC is provided by a noisy window unit. Don’t forget to step up into the tiny bathroom with no handicap bars for safety. Little scary at night with no lights.
Room wasn’t as clean as it should be. Found cobwebs on lamps.
The room was so uncomfortable we will never stay here again.

It's an old Inn and every room is different. The lobby is quaint and comfortable. The people are wonderful!! I love coming here

The room was large and accommodated 3 of us. There were basic amenities e.g. a hair dryer and a refrigerator. It was very quiet but a bit dated.

The listing for this property stated that guests would have “access” to a pool at a neighboring property. This is misleading. The “neighboring property “ is the local public pool that literally every human has “access” to. The hotel has no special deal with them. When I questioned the desk clerk about this he got snippy and suggested that I go swim in the river if I wanted to swim for free. The public pool wanted $44 total for myself, my wife and my toddler to swim for an hour. Needless to say we had a disappointed 3 year old. Also, the property is in terrible condition. I realize that it is an old “historic “ property but old and historic doesn’t have to be dilapidated. This property is.

Great location. Convenient to the Amtrak station. Great food options. The room needed a face lift and the bathroom was not very nice. But overall we had a great stay.

While I am not a fan of older hotels, the Coolidge Hotel did have charm. The hotel clerk, Andrew, was super nice and an asset to the hotel. Very outgoing and easy to talk to.
The major complaint that we had with the hotel is that there is no microwave in the room. While I know that a microwave may not fit in with the old-time décor of the hotel, I think it is a necessity for your guests who may have leftovers from restaurants to heat up or a microwaveable oatmeal to make for breakfast. They did have a small refrigerator in each room, which I think is essential. It is surprising that even very expensive hotels do not always have a refrigerator or a microwave.
Our son was in a separate room from us and he had an infestation of tiny green flea-type insects in his room. From talking with Andrew, I know that the hotel was doing everything they could about this situation and they were aware of it. If we had been staying more than one night on our initial visit, we would have requested a room change for him. On our return visit for one night, they made sure that he was not in the same room. Unfortunately his room on our return visit a week later had a small amount of flying insects as well.
If the insect problem was taken care of, we would definitely recommend the Coolidge Hotel.

Only 10 minute to Lebonon Opera House. Old charm, but AC had no cool air for running hard.

Go back in time and stay in this fascinating hotel in a fascinating community. Staff members were excellent - eminently helpful. The room was cozy and the bed was one of the most comfortable in which we have ever slept in a hotel. Enjoy this delightful nostalgic taste of hotels from their best days!

Wifi was not secure; why not?
Most electric plugs were old style without a ground, but I ended up not using my computer anyway because of the Wifi.
No work area/table. Rooms were cramped.
Bathrooms were not, but one served as a connection between two bedrooms, and all doors for this room did not lock/latch.
Staff was nice, but required an ID from every adult in the group. Strange.

Friendly staff.
