Pools were old and dirty. Very noisy hotel and they don't have Air Conditioning. inconvenient location. Room service food was horrible. Do not recommend it at all. Staff did what they could but to no avail. Great massage! Not worth the price.

The place is awesome, sometimes the personal is rude about the tips. But in general, everything was amazing, beautiful views and incredible peaceful for rest.
3.9
Beautiful place, excellent service, great staff.
Walls are a bit thin. We could hear very thing from the room next door. And I mean EVERYTHING!! 😬
But definitely will come back some day!!

The reason I've come back to this hotel a couple of times is because if the heated pools (and in room pools). We have a toddler and this swimming environment is perfect for her. Also tons of grassy areas and a small playground for her. The spa is also nice (get a massage with Esveidi, she is TOP!). The food is ok but could be better, especially for the high price.

It was amazing to stay here. My Valentine’s Day get away was amazing with my girlfriend. Restaurant staff was excellent along with all the other staff at the sanctuary. Will visit again soon.

excellent hotel very clean

The rooms has a mini pool, all night was having this weird sounds of going in and out water, they could no fix it, it supposed to be a relax hotel???
You can hear the tv room from the other room, and that to be nice for what you can hear …
3.9
the property is very nice; but staff at the reception not friendly, and currently the hotel is making an expansion and noice was terrible; could not get a massage at the spa, because of this
would recommend training better the reception staff and not recommend doing any massage or spa until finishing the expansion of the hotel

Отель очень интересный и красивый , но Менаджера просто нет или он тяжело болен.
Сервис очень долгий , состояние отеля ужасное и требует ремонта …
Не понятно за , что тут надо платить, в принципе хотелось бы , чтобы вернули деньги

El Santuario is a beautiful property. Very relaxing with a great staff. The food is fantastic and the views are incredible. I highly recommend this property.

Everything about this Resort and Spa was wonderful. The service was impeccable, the room was clean and beautiful, and the food marvelous. We will be coming back.

Rude employees
Bad service
They have no wine at the hotel.
Property is under construction or remodelación
The pool by the spa was closed
Many rules
They only speak Spanish, no English so it make difficult the stay for foreign visitors.
3.9
Most of the staff can not speak English , especially when you call room service, they will simply saying "bye" to you if they don't understand you, it's rude and unprofessional, hotel room is old and facility is limited, service in holiday is not worth for the price
3.9
The food was TERRIBLE, it took hours to be served each time. Flavorless. Problems with breakfast & lunch. Very very disappointing.
3.9
The place promotes itself as a luxury resort when In reality a lot about the facilities leaves to be desired. Particularly the design and accessibility of the areas of the hotel.
3.9
Horrible. Advertises as having a Jacuzzi in every suite. It is a cold large bath. No way to have temperature increased. We complained and they said max temperature would be 30 degrees. Body temperature is 36.5… the whole hotel looks old (bad maintenance), it is very noisy as well
3.9
The property is just and amazing place carved into the side of a mountain. Beautiful location with a lot of amenities and a good restaurant on site. The facility is also super clean and heated pools.

Fantastic place to scape from Mexico City within less than 2hrs driving. Love the art and pacific ambience! The views of the lake of Valle de Bravo are priceless. Highly recommended!
3.9
No airconditioner but not possible to open window due to mosquito, finally very hot and sticky all night. Impossible to make a room chilling enough with one fan.
It's a first time to see a hotel which doesn't have a coffee machine.

El trato del personal es excelente!!!!! Muy amables y muy amigables, las instalaciones mis respetos!!!! Super recomendado !!!! Ojalá podamos regresar seguido ♥️

The resort & spa is peaceful and beautiful. you can really disconnect and relax here. It is an old hotel but they are constantly upgrading. But for me there was 2 mayor turnoffs. The restaurant apart from the slow service what I cant forgive is the food is just blah. It just takes you away from the experience when the only food nearby is just tasteless. The other thing that disappointed me is I am n Expedia Gold Member and this is a VIP Gold recommended hotel which is why I decided on this hotel. But I was never acknowledged and when I brought it up I was promised a bottle of wine that I never received in my 5 night stay. Make of that what you will

Huge desillusion. We intended to have a great week of rest in this difficult period. It was not. The hotel is outdated with no proper maintenance. Rooms are neither isolated for sound nor wind! One night, music from the hotel was played loud in common areas preventing us from sleeping. Junior suites which are the cheapest ones do not have fridge... For 200 USD à night, this is a big minus. I think obviously the hotel owner does not care about his customers. It is by no means some holistic nor ecological place. We had to change room 3 times. Only things to save, the view and the personnel in general who try their best to save situation
3.9
Property looks amazing, the staff needs training and attention to details. Food is not consistent in its quality and it takes forever.
3.9
Beautiful place, beautiful view, good service, delicious food.
3.9
The rooms did not have AC and at night the mosquito bites did not let us rest.
3.9
First impression was good, great welcoming on behalf of the staff. When you get to your room reality doesn’t seem as pictures in website. The room is hot and humid because of the indoor pool, there is no AC! You need to ask for 3 fans in order to sleep at night. Rooms look old and need maintenance. F&B prices are over the top, service in restaurant and room service are very slow although there are plenty of waiters. Staff is nice and are willing to help you, unfortunately this didn’t make our stay any better. Overall the hotel is overpriced, you don’t get what you pay for. The best thing in the hotel is the view. Wouldn’t go back.

I not often leave reviews specially negative ones but this was an exceptionally bad experience.
Arriving at El Santuario is an experience of calm and relaxation, the reception is filled with incense and there is cold tea and apples, the receptionist talked in a calm soothing voice so I was in for the weekend of couples relaxation and connection with each other.
When i was escorted to our room the initial experience was good as well, expansive lake view with an indoor mini pool in the room with a chaise lounge next to it ... pretty cool RIGHT?
Here goes the WARNING, I will state only facts so you can do with them as you wish.
The toilet stall does not close correctly and the door is a thin glass with a wood frame, poorly ventilated or not at all. ( I hated the compact space as well )
Indoor pool is heated to a steaming degree, our room was literally a SAUNA and has no air conditioning. Your choice of heat or mosquitos
The windows are hard to open and close and the screen does not properly seal the gap so plenty of mosquitos can share your high end hotel Jr Suite.
The bathroom area (toilet, shower and sink) is painted with something that looks like pool or epoxy paint in black that gives the feel of uncleanliness and is some areas was sticky
Toilet stall had a foul smell that lingered thru our stay
Shower head was filled with calcium so the stream was very wide and hard to enjoy a shower.
Room was not made up and dial 0 for no answer!

I booked a room(ROOM 3) with more than 400 USD, but I really regret!
Good things: the view from restaurant, the food in the restaurant
Bad feeling things:
1.in the room there was no air condition, we called, and after 3~4 hours, they send us a fan. but when it's bed time...I found all the mosquito which enjoyed the fan with us in the rooms are all died on my bed....can you image....and the second morning I found the facility of the door is so bad, that's why all the little animals comes in last night....
2. no Wifi in our rooms, and this issue we called 3~4 times to reception and they just told us they are working on that, and until check out it not fixed, and no apologize from anyone.
3. the pool in the room is just a pool of water, we have no button to open any function of Jacuzzi or change the water or change the temperature...and the water is so cold that you can't use, so....useless
4. there was a party just outside our room....and it's finished until 9 pm..... check if there is a party or not before you choose the room!!!!!!!!!
3.9
Its a beautiful hotel, where you can enjoy nature and relax. Since the check in you will feel the hospitality of the staff. It has the best views. The room was fantastic, with a small pool in case you don't want to go out. The breakfast and room service was excellent, specially the chilaquiles and coffee.

The hotel was really nice, I have a good experience been there, thank you so much
