Hotel very nice. Great room, but it had no furniture. I know they are remodeling, but no excuse not be able to sit except on your bed.

One night was not expensive is under some construction but location is great. The Front desk gentleman that checked me in was fantastic.

Great place. Friendly staff. Renovations will make it even better. We stayed while the place was under major renovations, which caused some inconveniences. Overall good though. It

During our visit the hotel was under renovation which I can fully forgive for any additional dust and clutter. The issue I had was in the rooms that I was able to see during our visit. There was several areas that the drywall patching was incomplete and new cove base was installed over moldy and wet drywall. There was no light over the sink so the while area was dark but there was a table lamp that was plugged in near by that was not operational by a switch. The rooms felt “under construction” but were still used for visitors. It looks like an obvious attempt to hid the issues instead of correcting it so be cautious and aware if your stay is longer than a day or two.

I like it, quiet place, friendly people, clean 100%. I recommend the beach behind the building .😄

Under construction and they don’t show that

Beautiful hotel. The restaurant, sauna, and fitness room were under construction when we were there. But the rooms were quiet. The outdoor pool and hot tub looked great and the beach is just down the street. The hotel was quiet. The staff was nice too. The only odd thing was that our room’s lamps were bright white harsh bulbs instead of the soft warm yellow bulbs you usually get. That was a surprise, but overall the start was very pleasant and it’s perfectly situated on St. Augustine beach and just 15 minutes from the historic district.

Was told that only the restaurant was
No lighting in the sink area of the bathroom, had to leave the bathroom door open so the light from the bathroom would somewhat spill out to the sink area. Very poor planning on the rennovation.

The property is currently under renovation and will become part of Hilton operations. I am guessing it’s probably going to be one of the best properties to stay in at Saint Augustine beach

Place was very nice. Little disappointed that we ended up coming during some construction and wasn’t aware prior but other than that it was good.

This was our second trip to the St. Augustine area and our first stay with the Castillo Real. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our stay was pleasant. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, so there was construction noise between 9a-5p each day (we knew this before arriving). Our room had a few quirks - the sink area was lit with a floor lamp instead of a traditional vanity, the floor had a transition that wasn't level, and there was only one towel hook in the bathroom, with none near the sink. The shower water was always warm, but never got super hot. All of this may have been due to the construction in process, but it was a little odd. The bed was comfy, the room spacious, and the experience nice. The location is great - very easy to access and get in/out. The beach is an easy walk, and whether you're going to stay at the beach or visit parts of St. Augustine, the hotel is very conveniently located. We'd gladly stay here again.

The property is undergoing restoration and renovation. A few minor inconveniences during our stay. We are looking forward to seeing the improvements when completed!

Our stay in the executive suite was below average overall. While the room was spacious, it was clearly worn with heavily used furniture that’s in need of an update. The cleanliness of the room could have been better, as it didn’t feel as fresh as we’d hoped.
The front desk staff, however, was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made a positive impression. Unfortunately, the on-site restaurant was closed during our stay, which was disappointing. Additionally, be warned—parking on the property comes with a $10 fee, which we weren’t expecting.
Overall, an okay experience, but improvements to the rooms, better communication about the restaurant closure, and transparency about parking fees would go a long way.

My stay at Castillo Real was a disaster. The hotel is under construction, but this crucial detail was buried in the fine print on Expedia, and their website gave no proper warning. My "Executive Queen Suite" turned out to be a standard queen room with none of the promised amenities—no separate rooms or ocean view, just a city view and a space that felt like a construction zone.
The website misleadingly featured photos of a luxurious tub, but my room had an unfinished shower with no space for soap, no full-length mirror, no towel racks, and nearly bare walls. When I asked the reception, I was told my room was still under renovation—something they never disclosed during booking.
Housekeeping was by request only, which would have been acceptable if it were the only issue. However, being charged $500 for a room that was incomplete and not as advertised is outrageous. The hotel's response was to waive a $20 parking fee as compensation, which felt like a joke. After complaining via Expedia, I was refunded only $50—far from enough for such a disappointing experience.

We did enjoy our stay, however, our room was awkward. So much room without a comfortable TV watching area. We had to pull chairs up front, I know the front desk said they’re still remodeling, but the room felt very bare and not very cozy.

Considering the renovations going on we had a great stay. I can't wait to see the finished product. Walking distance to the beach and some great restaurants! Would definitely recommend.

Everything was great. Staff was great. Room was great. Location was great. But parking was tight. Hardly an extra space.

I thought this was an excellent choice based on overall appeal, beach access and proximity to restaurants, morning/evening strolls. Although the property is under construction, this was still a very nice stay for the price. The room was very spacious and clean. A few minor "must haves" would be shower caddy or shelving. There was nothing to hold soap, shampoo, etc. With such large rooms, a loveseat or lounger. The location makes up for the construction in my opinion and I will definitely stay here again.

This isn’t a big busy fancy hotel , Which was perfect, besides the updating construction going on ( we didn’t hear a thing ) and new restaurant coming not open yet. The hotel was pleasant and staff was polite and informative. The only thing that needs addressed was there is no direct light in the bathroom only thru the door opened where the toilet and shower was , which didn’t make sense but the pool was pleasantly clean and cool! We will definitely stay here again can’t wait for all the renovations and restaurant space to open. If you don’t like crowds this hotel is a nice romantic spot and a short walk to the beach, to watch the Sunrise!

Doing remodeling on several floors, hit tub not working for the entire 9 days. Holes in walls in the room, bugs in hallways and trash not being picked up daily from ice/vending room

Loved beachside location; very convenient to beach and restaurants. Property advertised renovations but I didn't see anything about paying to park which I totally disagree with at any hotel. Very spacious room and comfortable bed; we would stay here again no problem

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. As soon as we walked in, there was dust everywhere from the ongoing construction. When we reached our room, we found it filled with flies. To make matters worse, the pillows were heavily stained, and when we checked underneath, we found hair all over, likely from the previous guests. We reported this to management, who promised to have the room cleaned. However, when we returned, the same pillows were merely propped up to look as if they'd been changed, and the sheets still had the hair and stains.
To top it all off, we encountered a giant cockroach scattering across our room. This was easily one of the most unsanitary and appalling hotel experiences I've ever had.

It was a lot more outdated than i thought it was going to be… Location is great but the room wasn’t very impressive for the price.

I like the room ( spacious and nice), the location by the beach, the clean pool, and the front desk staff and manager who were so welcoming.

The pool was nice and the steam room was refreshing. However, the sauna did not work and the restaurant was not open and that was not mentioned when we called them. Also, they are undergoing construction in the lobby and that was not mentioned either. They should be upfront about the condition that their hotel is in when people book a room.

Hotel has been “under construction” for longer than I-75. Jack hammers on Saturday morning…
Our balcony had 4 visible wasps nest that we asked to be removed shortly after checking in… I bet a week stay at a different hotel they are still there. AC struggled to keep up, I am an HVAC professional, something was off. The elevator was miserable, the bldg. is only 4 stories. Our 4th and probably last stay. Good luck Hilton.

I understand the hotel is under a remodel. I can overlook not having somewhere to hang a wash rag in the shower or the paint on the door jam not being done correctly. What I can’t overlook are the dips in the floor of our room that almost tripped my husband. What I can’t overlook is the elevator feeling like the Tower of Terror when my husband, 6 year old and myself get in with an overnight bag a piece. What I can’t overlook is having the trailer hitch being stolen off of my truck while parked in the handicapped spot right by the front door under the security camera and no one seeing a thing or being basically brushed off by the hotel staff (Ben, Rhonda and the hotel manager).

The hotel was under minor repairs, but it didn’t really interfere with my stay. The front desk employees were very nice, and they even let us check in a little early. There are places to eat and shop in walking distance to the hotel. It wasn’t crowded during my stay, and I never heard other guests when I was in my room. The section of the beach near the hotel didn’t get crowded during the week I was there.
Some of the outlets didn’t work in the bathroom, and the shower’s water pressure wasn’t great. Still, I’d stay there again. I’m sure the minor issues will be handled once the repairs are all finished.

The property was under renovation at the time of my stay. The front desk did upgrade my room when I called to check if the hotel was opened due to a hurricane Debby. The room was clean and a good size. The view of the ocean and pool was very nice.
