From the momement we arrived staff behaved oddly. It felt as if they were watching our every move. The only camera inside the building shows who is entering and exiting. On our 3rd night, exiting the door, my brother gets robbed of his IPhone by a street thug. We asked hotel reception to contact police and they refused saying "no police". Had a bad feeling from day one about this place. Stay away, shady people, shady area

The hotel is central so a big plus, room are ok for the rate even if the rooms are old and worn out. Bed was really uncomfortable but room clean. It was quiet even if it’s located in the center. Service was great :)

It was really terrible experience.

Language was a big barrier - no tea or coffee making facilities - the lift was the tiniest ever - staff were unhelpful. I requested support to find a laundromat and nothing was forthcoming. It was difficult to locate but once there was easy to get around- no a/c - not comfortable bed - very small unit

Small place. Had a reasonable room on the uppermost floor. Picked it for its nice central location. There are probably better places around but I was happy with the place.
I believe the rooms are more airy, better view, the higher you get in the building.

The hotel is located inside city slightly. therefore we have to park a car somewhere.
There is a big parking slot at the courst. We could find a nice restaurant nearby the hotel.

Just try walking from the aquarium area back to the hotel, Genoa is a very shaddy looking area , and not many good looking kind folks around in this area. you can get lost and worried real fast.

Good stay and kind staff! Changed my room to the first floor because i am afraid of elevators! So kind. It is very noisy though, couldn't sleep many hours. Rest is fine.

We were extremely disappointed as we were given a twin bedded room instead of the double room which we booked,we complained and we're told that take it or go somewhere else.We were put in a pokey little room it was so small that the tv which was mounted on the wall kept on catching our backs,it was very basic and we cannot understand how this is classed as a 3 STAR,the area we ate our breakfast in was really tatty the chairs were all scratched up the legs and the tiles on the floor all cracked, the photos in the advert are not what you get, there is a dirty old sofa where the reception is and when we got back after our night out the night porter was sleeping on it,just very very basic and just around the corner best Western which is l so a 3 STAR looked so lovely and we'll deserved 3 STARS

Fantastic location. Horrible breakfast, but its worth staying because of the area. Right in the heart of Genoa.

I simply do not understand how this hotel got 3-star rating. I stayed in a 3-star hotel in Genoa before. Hotel Acquairo was so poor that at most it would be 1-star compared with the other hotel. I stayed at 3-star hotels in Turkey and in Turin, compared with those Acquairo would not even deserve 1-star. Rooms very small, had very poor facilities. Very poor sound proofing, toilet ,perhaps not dirty but looked stained because of regular wear and tear. Breakfast was very poor. If this hotel offers you a single room for 30 dollars a night you might consider staying there, I personally would not. The 70 dollars I paid was a total waste of money. The receptionist during day time could speak some English but the one at night did not know a word of English. I would never stay again in this hotel.

When I could not find hotel and telephoned, ..the receptionist could not speak English...the hotel is pretty shabby and the rate ( during boat show time ) was very high. The area is one to be careful of at night I feel.

This is a handy bargain place in the middle of old Genoa. Not fancy, minimum comfort, a few stairs as well. The clerks also have minimum English and willingness to help. They will, but some more than others. Not far to the Palazzo, Farrari Fountain, and Acquarium either. Good budget hotel in a busy old city.

The service is standard but the room was small with no view, and especially the next door bathroom noise was louder than your own room's and the wall was too thin. Couldn't sleep with the next room's loud TV and kids noises (regular noises if you are in the room).

We had a lot of fun staying at this hotel which is situated near the Porto Antico in the heart of the old town. However the description of the hotel is not strictly accurate. There is a steep flight of steps from the entrance up to reception. There is then a very small lift which serves all floors. There is an area where one could enjoy a drink but it hardly qualifies as a spacious bar. The staff on reception are a real collection of charecters. Although they do not speak English we were able to make ourselves understood, and a faulty shower door and cracked toilet seat were repaired and replaced promptly. The rooms have been recently renovated although not to a very high standard. They are plain and simple but perfectly adequate. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were lovely and warm. There is air conditioning, and double glazed windows which are effective at limiting street noise. There is no safe in the bedrooms and there was no safe available at reception. Breakfast was adequate but very basic. I really enjoyed staying here because we were right in the heart of the old town with its narrow streets and little shops, and the musuems and churches were all close by. Public transport was readily accessible. If you like your cities rough and ready and not tarted up for the tourists then Genoa is the place for you. Hotel Acquario is in my opinion worthy of two stars rather than three. Nevertheless we had a wonderful stay here.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the hotel was not in good condition overall, and my room was very small. The hotel was not in a particularly nice area of town. All that can be coped with if you've decided to stay at a really cheap hotel, but for the price I expected better.

over looking one of the many narrow walkways in the old town, the area below with its shops and buzz are a great introduction to life in the city(but you could have an early call, when some of the shutters go up)a very good location for most things,it is hard to get your bearings at first.
