Woww is all i can i say about our stay. We had a fabulous night. Peter was just the best host ever. He has a wonderful caring nature and really delivered a wonderful experience. The hotel is gorgeous and probably the best comfortable room we have ever stayed in. To top it all off the breakfast was astounding with a huge selection of continental fare. My cooked English breakfast was beautiful as was my wife's eggs royale.
I am so pleased we have found this gem of a place and plan to visit again and again. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful and memorable .

Stayed for three nights. Peter is a great host, meeting us on arrival to welcome us in.
Two beautiful rooms / a bedroom and small lounge, with a recently refurbished and very stylist shower room. Tasteful decor with a large comfortable bed and good quality bed linen. All very clean.
Beautifully prepared breakfast, with plenty of fresh fruit, cereals plus a good choice of cooked too.
The Somerville is just a 10 minute walk down to the sea front. Torquay museum is a 5 minute walk. An excellent place to visit. The Hole in the Wall is a lovely old pub serving great food and only 7 minute walk down the hill.
I can highly recommend a stay at the Somerville!

What a lovely place to stay! We pulled into the parking area at the rear of the property, and we were met by Peter, who welcomed us. We found him to be so knowledgeable and friendly, showing us walking routes, places of interest etc. Peter, Helen and the team really made our stay so comfortable. Little touches like fresh baked cakes which we could help ourselves to. Our room had a fridge where they left complementary bottled water and milk each day. We brought a bottle of champagne with us which had been a present, as we were celebrating our anniversary and on the daily housekeeping where they top up the fridge if anything has been used, we came back from a day out to find that they had left us some champagne flutes, so they must have seen the champagne, so thoughtful! Coffee and tea in your room too along with some home made cookies. We had the deluxe room with king bed. The room itself was beautiful, the bed really comfortable and plenty of storage too. I dont always sleep well away from home, but had no problem here, nice and quiet and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing, masses of choice, and freshly cooked to order. We would definitely come back and highly recommend, thank you to Peter, Helen and the team, you really made our stay that bit more special in an already beautiful part of the world.

Spent a great 2-3 days in Torquay whilst visiting a relative. I'm not usually a B&B stayer but the Somerville looked great and was fantastic. Very comfortable room, everything you'd need and lots of extra touches to, lots of thought given. The breakfast choice and food were amazing, owners were super nice and we had a great stay, totally recommend and we'll be back.

The room was immaculate, with everything you needed, including a fridge with fresh milk!

Hosts were brilliant - so helpful, happy to suggest walks, places to eat, really attentive. Room was really clean - bed soooo comfortable. Loved the attention to detail like free bottled water, bathrobes, fresh milk in the fridge, free homemade cake every day. The breakfast was delicious. Great location - easy to walk everywhere. Everything about this was just great - would definitely go again.

A lot of character decorated in wonderful taste and superb personal service

We loved the attention to details. Like chocolates and lollies in the room. As well as bottles of water in the fridge. The daily cake baked by our hostess, left for us to enjoy anytime of day! Not to mention the breakfast!!! But we didn’t like the very very soft bed! Had trouble sleeping the 3 nights we were there. Overall, very enjoyable stay, well recommended

Room was excellent, every mod con you could possibly want, cleaned everyday everything replenished each day. Did not try the breakfast to lazy to get out of bed in time. Owners very helpful and polite, thanks for a great week.

Just up Babbacombe Road - Very pretty looking building on approach. Its about a 10 minute walk from the harbour- although if you feeling lazy buses run up regularly just ask for the Museum. Very warm greeting, cake available in the hall and fresh milk (not UHT) in the rooms. Garden Suite - compact but charming, Bed extremely comfy, good sized Bathroom with a (V Large) freestanding Bath and separate shower. Living area which leads to patio (which can be used as your own private entrance), includes comfy Sofa. 3 Televisions in Total - 1 in each room - living room, bedroom, and bathroom (yes Bathroom). Breakfast fantastic (all local - tasty produce) and loose leaf tea. Pastries were really nice, and a really good selection on the buffet over. All sets you up for a day.

Wonderful stay; hosts and staff charming and helpful and breakfast was delicious. Healthy, organic food available, as well as regular English breakfasts. And Helen is a terrific baker! Atmosphere charming and staff very helpful with any request. Wish I was closer so I could come back!

Well what we say apart from AMZAING! We had a lovely welcome from Peter the owner, he couldn't do enough for us! We had welcoming drinks on the sun terrace which was so tranquil. Our room was lovely, everything you needed was to hand and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous with such a lot of choice which would suit everybody! it was a short walk downhill to the harbour and all restaurants and shops. We would 100% recommend this guest house and if we visit Torquay in the future we would not stay anywhere else.

we went for a 50th birthday treat family member weekend. everything was perfect from the Greeting and complimentary tea while checking in, the rooms are roomy and luxurious, lots of little extras, and breakfast to die for so varied and wide choice. Peter the genial host, nothing to much trouble and helped with bookings for evening meals and theatre. we were a party of 2 couples and a single and no complaints from anyone. will definitely return and recommend to anyone wanting a touch of luxury stay within close proximity to torquay centre.

Trying to be objective here. We found Torquay to be horrific and cut short our stay at the Somerville.
The hotel itself was ok though. Reasonably close to the seafront with restaurants etc. The check in was a little odd as the details from Hotels.com hadn't gone through properly but all sorted out.
Room was described as "Deluxe" but was very small - bed basically filled the room - only one chair. Bathroom small but very nicely appointed. Fridge, coffee making etc all good. TV system antiquated and the remote very old.
Bed was probably nice once upon a time but mattress now poor. Although we booked seven months in advance we were given the room with a view over the car park at ground level which made for a reasonably noisy stay and when coupled to the endless drunken yobs walking up the main road and the endless numbers of boy racers revving their engines all night long it was a VERY noisy place to stay.
I expected a quieter place and personally struggled to sleep at all with the noise and uncomfortable mattress (and I've lived in major city centres with no problems!).
Overall, we cut our stay short because of the town, not the hotel. The owners were good and very friendly.

Peter and Helen was brilliant hosts and made us most welcome, breakfast was outstanding, service was also excellent and the 2 girls were a credit to the place.
car parking was not a problem and was close to the marina, only 5 minute walk.
We would be happy to stay again and would recommend.

Attention to detail was everywhere from our bedroom, down the stairs, lounge area, breakfast room, sun terrace and the garden to breakfast. Amazing hosts and staff, all so very happy and friendly. Our bed and pillows were pure comfort, best sleep I've had in ages. Breakfast was to die for.. so much choice on the menu and locally sourced produce. The buffet selection made our mouths water just looking at it. The hotel is on a steep hill which can prove a challenge in 4 inch heels at 1pm in the morning, however taxi's and buses are abundant. We will be going back again for sure to see Peter and Helen and enjoy the comforts of the beautiful Somerville.
