Let me first start by saying that Solana Hotel & Spa looks very inviting from the front. It has a really nice lobby and is located within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and there are busses that take you to St. Paul's Bay, Gozo and other touristy places just steps from the hotel which I liked. All rooms also have a balcony which is nice to sit outside and dry your clothes, enjoy the weather, etc. Nice rooftop. What I did not like was the horrible odor in my room when I first checked in, which I later was told that is it was the wood panel in the room, since it was recently remodeled. It was an easy solution because I just opened the balcony door everyday and eventually I could not smell it. Also housekeeping kept on forgetting to clean my room even though I would leave a sign saying to clean it and would even see them in the hallway and assume that since they saw me leaving, they would clean it. I had to keep complaining to the front desk and they did get them to clean it, but it was evident that housekeeping did a lackluster job and did not clean the floors or anything. Also, the wifi in my room was terrible, I am not sure if it was because I was located on the far end of the floor. The room (2205) looked like they recently converted it into a room so maybe that's also why housekeeping kept on forgetting about it. I did like that there was a gym, but the ventilation was poor as it smelled moldy. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again based on this experience.

This was my first time staying on the north part of the island. Excellent access to Gozo and Popeye. The room was spacious and breakfast always had a variety of options. The weather wasn't too great while I was there, but there were indoor pools, sauna, and a (tiny) gym. There were always people in the lobby having a drink and sometimes there was live music. The service was also excellent. Kis (at check-in) was wonderful and explained all of the amenities that that hotel & spa had to offer. If I wanted a relaxing weekend, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Friendly and speedy check-in. Clean and comfortable room. Did not use the buffet or restaurant as visiting friends, but plenty of choices for eating both inside hotel and locally. Located in heart of Mellieħa, short walk to bus stops for routes all across the islands.

Great stay in this hotel, the view from the pool at the 7th floor is beautiful and cocktails are a must over there.
Bus stop in front of the hotel and guest services are also very good.
Clean rooms and friendly staff.
Loved the pizza.

This place was beautiful. We stayed at 2 different hotels in Malta & this was our favorite. The Italian restaurant downstairs is fantastic & the included breakfast was great. Everything in the hotel is very well kept & clean & working order. The pools were beautiful, the showers had hot water & plenty of pressure.
Only 2 very minor things I can say could have improved our stay. I'd switch is that the mattress that was very very firm, with one a little softer, but that is just a preference. Also, there is a shuttle from the beach, but it cost more than an Uber. It would be a nice touch if they just included that in the stay.

Loved our stay at the solana hotel. Just a few minutes walk to beaches and swimming spots. You have to walk down a hill to access these but there are buses running regularly which we made use of when returning back to the hotel. Loads of places to eat and drink as soon as you exit the hotel. We used the spa at the solana. Had a hot stone massage and a face massage. Wow. What an amazing experience. Parking available for hotel guests at a small charge daily. All in all a great hotel. We had such a relaxing time and the staff were all so helpful and great at what they do. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay there again.

The hotel itself really nice and clean. Rooftop swimming pools are great and the highlights of the hotel.
We had breakfast and one first day we went from their opening which is 7.30am and not all hot food was ready.
We had couple SPA and it was Devine!
Our room had small balcony and dripping water from the sealing in the bathroom.
These few minuses didn’t affect our holiday too much.
I would go to the hotel again if return to Malta.

The property is a part of the Corinthia and Radisson as a sister property. Therefore, they share joined amenities which is a plus. It’s far enough away from Paceville to where you don’t hear all the partying and nightlife but still walkable to wear you can join in the festivities if you choose. The staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable and the rocky shores of the Mediterranean are just a stone throw away.
Cons: I was in room 17632 (I think) on the 6th floor. Well…the lift only goes to the 5th floor. Solo traveler walking up a flight of stairs with luggage wasn’t ideal, but manageable. The bedroom never did cool down to my liking. Even at night it was warm. The deluxe room wasn’t really a deluxe to my standards. The room was outdated and only one electrical outlet that was useable and it was no where near the bed. There aren’t any modern appliances like lamps with integrated usb cables (I know I’m just being bougie) so if you carry a lot of tech with you, bring a backup power supply and charge when you can. I’m an amateur YouTuber/Videographer so this was essential.
In general, the hotel was well kept but I do think the room could use more attention. They can also use an upgraded access control system or card less key system like the mobile access solution HID offers. The hotel is still using the old magtek cards that looses its data on the magstripe very easily. Meaning…I hope you like the added exercise and inconvenience of running to the lobby for reprogramming!

Had a great stay at Solana. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was big, beautiful, and clean. The only downside was that the WiFi was pretty terrible in my room — poor connection and really slow.

Spacious rooms, but AC not working properly.

The property has a very small rooftop pool and you have to recycle your pool towels or for a few they will change. I was on the 3 rd floor and there were 2 cockroaches in the room. The location is very good, close to restaurants and shopping, but there are better places to stay for the money.

The only criticism I have is that there is a lot of building work going on which is why I did not give a full star rating

Have stayed many times over the years.
Friendly Staff
Excellent Breakfast
Very Clean
Standard Room Great Value For Money.
Only problem for myself this time was that the corridors to your rooms are very noisy due to tiled floors and not enough soft furnishings to dampen down the sound. Also the music around the pool area (Top Deck) is awful it needs to be addressed.

I stayed here for almost a week and it was alright. I would’ve really appreciated being made aware that there were renovations/work going on, constantly. These started as early as 7:30. The fire alarm even went off once. That should be something you tell residents before or during their check in. Or as there were lots of those renovations going on right outside our door (2312) maybe close the whole floor so residents aren’t disturbed.
The lift situation was quite confusing at the beginning we had to take a life down then walk quite a while then get another lift up, it wasn’t straightforward.
The cleaners would also reuse bedding and towels but just re fold them as if they were new/re make the bed but flip the covers.
Overall the room was nice. Our view wasn’t the best, the food was great and the staff were really nice

A couple of issues, parking was not available at hotel despite being advised and emailing to book due to building work. This was inconvenient as on street parking 400m away. They did offer use of alternative hotel parking but this was also over 5 minutes away.
Room booked was a double but was simply 2 singles pushed together with separate bedding so not comfortable as a couple.

Nice room, street outside a little noisy. excellent shower. Roof top pool amazing views. Local parking terrible, would advise pre booking with hotel if you have a car. Many local restaurants nearby. Room very clean, breakfast excellent choice , could eat inside or outside. Would recommend.
