Cheap, but you get a cheap everything. Roaches all over the place. Stains on the sheets. The breakfast was the worst, did not even touched it. This place is falling apart.

Building and rooms need a lot of maintenance and upkeep. Beds are extremely uncomfortable as their base is made of cement. Sink kept leaking and I'm also not a fan of showering with a cockroach. I also got this hotel because it had "breakfast included"... Which it did, but the problem was that it was available only from 8:30-9:30.

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times and always appreciate the quiet, dim ambiance. The beds are comfortable, and the tub is a nice touch. During my last stay, however, the housekeepers were cleaning the balcony at the end of the hallway outside my room, and water ended up on the floor, seeping into my room. It appears that this particular room is designed to allow the stream to flow in and drain into a small hole. Nothing will get damaged unless you place your bags or other items in that spot. This is the only room I've encountered with this issue. That said, I've noticed improvements with each visit, and overall, it's an excellent choice for the price in the area!

Nothing really wrong for price but online looks nicer than reality- old, outdated. Dirty cutip under bed- no towells or toilet paper in room (was provided when we asked). But again- was super cheap and if you just need a bed and a toilet for a night, was fine.

There is no elevator in the property. The room was in the 3rd floor. When I first checked in the room that was provided had a red underwear hanging in the room. The shower was broken. I was then moved to another room. The room was ok. The staff was understanding about my concern.

Paid 20-30 bucks for a quick place to sleep. It’s a charming little property that looks like it still around from the old days. Very nice to look at. The old rooms are part of the charm. The best part however is the location. A lot of beautiful things to see within walking distance. Combined with a the price it’s a perfect little spot to stay for a tourist on a budget

We always stay there when going to Santo Domingo. It is located at the very convenient location. Clean, safe and at the excellent price.

The room was fine, and the bed was comfortable, it was clean, and it had a refrigerator. Unfortunately, my room (#121, 3rd floor)was located adjacent to the terrace, and there were bright lights beaming through the window all night, and I had to practically beg to get them to at least unscrew the bulb above my window so that it was dark enough in the room to sleep comfortably. Also, there was a door that led to another room from my room, and I could hear everything through that door, as well as the glass doors to the terrace.... So being able to get a good night's sleep, or to sleep past 8:00 a.m. in the morning was a challenge. Also, the breakfast offering was quite a joke. It was only offered for 1 hour in the morning, between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., so I didn't have breakfast my first two mornings. But the third morning I went down and asked for breakfast, and the girl seemed like she reached behind the counter and brought out a ham and egg sandwich....it was ready instantly! In other words, it had been sitting there waiting for me. I opened up the barely-toasted, cold sandwich to find two little spots of cold, congealed eggs on each slice of bread, and one tiny little slice of ham that was divided between the two halves. So, in summary, the room was comfortable, the breakfast was a joke, but the location could not be beat for the price

Maison Gautraux I would not recommend. I had a reservation, they do not answer the phone for an airport transfer that is stated as an available service. When I arrived to the hotel they had given my room away to another patron because I chose the pay at hotel option, and said they were full and I would have to go to another hotel. The Hotel Renacer had a leaky roof that drained water all over 1 of the 2 beds in our room, and the room was not clean from their renovations.

First of all, the guy in the front desk overcharged us. The front of the property looks dirty. The bathroom didn't have the items you usually expect in a hotel room, like soap; we reported to them that in there was just a comfort sheet, out of 2 beds, and the guy just told us that it was right, because they provide just one for room.
We had a reservation for 5 persons, and in the room they left an old towel with stains. Also, The bathroom faucet was malfunctioning.
They have 0 security over there.
Finally, would not recommend this place.

Close to many tourist areas and El Malecón.close to airport. Friendly staff and guests. It feels like a big family in a big, antique house.

Excellent place and location is just perfect for the price.

Closeness to Independence Park and to malecón adds charm to this stay. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Hermanos hidalgos is a buffet type one with good food just around av independencia.
