The hosts were very friendly and helpful, eager to please. They gave great suggestions of where to go in town. The building is historical so revuew is taking this into consideration. Our room (south) really needed an extra table to be able to sit at or place our suitcase on. There was plenty of room for one
The bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was close enough to town to walk but we drove due to rain. A nice place if you feel historical.
Breakfast was decent, not over the top though

We LOVED our stay here and will definitely return. The flower gardens were amazing during our August stay. The chocolate chip cookies were yummy. The breakfast scones & gluten free banana bread were outstanding. They even were generous enough to share the recipes. Assistant Melissa was so helpful explaining details of how to make the scones. Innkeepers were especially warm, friendly and inviting.

Our stay in Mendocino was made even better by staying at the Joshua Grindel bed and breakfast.
Breakfast was delicious! Scones, banana bread, homemade granola, and more. We ate our breakfast on the porch. The grounds are delightful, filled with flowers.

We slept in tower 1. Very nice room with an excellent bed and clean. The people are very nice. The Inn is nearby the center of Mendocino and is in walking distance of everything. We enjoyed our stay very much. Improvement suggestion: less sugar during breakfast! Everything they serve is sugar rich. Very sweet granola, only sweetened joghurt, sweet scones; no natural joghurt, no ham and no cheese.

We stayed at the inn for 2 nights and everything was great. Lexi helped us with everything starting from check-in. She is a thorough professional with a warm personality and knowledge about the area. The property is at an easy walkable distance from the town and beach. The room we got was nice: Spacious, clean, and with a good bathroom. We loved our stay at Joshua Grindle Inn and we would definitely go back to lovely Mendocino and would staty at the same place.

We have stayed in Mendocino many times at many other places over the years. From now on, we will only stay at the Joshua Grindle Inn. Wonderful people, superb service, a short walk to the heart of town.....it is truly ideal!

The inn is immaculate, charming, quiet, and beautiful! It’s walking distance to everything in town, including the grocery store. There’s a shared fridge and microwave available to use on site, but there are no utensils, bowls, etc., so you’d have to bring your own. The owners are lovely and so helpful. And Jemma the sweet little cat likes to hang out and is slowly beginning to warm up to guests. Oh, and breakfast is yummy! It’s the perfect place to stay during your trip to Mendocino! WiFi works great too!

The history of the inn is fascinating and the location is convenient to the town of Mendocino. The furnishings are comfortable, if dated, and the accommodations for Covid were comforting. We enjoyed talking with the inn's owners who were very friendly and helpful.

Property was beautiful and filled with wild flowers! The owners felt like long time friends by the time we left. Homemade granola and scones. Very relaxing little cottages with fireplace. By far one of the best places I have ever stayed! Just lovely.

We enjoyed our stay, the Inn is lovely and comfortable in a great location. Has a beautiful garden that was flowering while we were there. The room was very clean, we felt that covid considerations were taken seriously which put us at ease. The breakfast is really nice too. The owners of the inn are really nice, helpful, interesting people.

We had a perfect weekend stay in this cozy historical inn. We arrived Friday to cold weather/rain and Ken had already turned up the heat and was warming our room for us as we arrived. Hosts, Ken and Kate were so warm and welcoming and full of historical knowledge about the house and Mendocino itself. We stayed in The Master room in the main house, where we enjoyed the jetted tub and comfy robes, as well as a working fireplace. Woke up to beautiful sunshine and on Ken's suggestion, we hiked a fun trail through Russian Gulch state park up to a waterfall. Breakfast at the inn was fresh and delicious and the inn is a mere 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops in downtown Mendocino. Loved everything about it, and the inn and every business we encountered was practicing strict Covid safe precautions! Even their flower gardens were already in full bloom (early March), which was an added bonus.

It was a nice bed and breakfast. Awesome little place to stay, beautiful surroundings and many places to explore that are within both walking & driving distance.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Library room which was super cute and cozy with antique decor. The staff was very welcoming and kind and detailed everything we would need to know upon arrival. Felt very covid safe and complimentary breakfast was delicious! Higly Recommend!

Ken and Kate were the best part of our stay . The breakfast was great; Ken makes the scones :) and Kate was so helpful with recommendations. I would definitely go back judy
2.0
Pleasant, friendly, helpful staff. Meadow View is a small space with a tiny bayroom with no real view. The interior is uninspired and slightly shabby. The effort to create a Victorian style is adequate, but not memorable. The rating of 9+ is ridiculous. Perhaps we should have paid more somewhere else.

The hosts took great precautions in COVID safety. A lovely, relaxed stay. Bed was a little hard, but cottage was cozy & comfortable. Will definately be back. The hosts are what make this place - lovely.

Beautiful Joshua Grindle Inn! We had the Library. We wanted to just stay in the room. It had a fireplace, shelves of great books including that of Picasso’s sketchbooks and diaries. The two lace-curtained windows faced two flowering pink rhododendron trees with a garden bench. The bathroom was well appointed. The bed was a luxurious four-posted victorian. Sleep was so comfortable.
Adjacent to our room was the beautiful parlor with antique victorian furniture. Had tea there a couple times. The blooming flower garden of the inn faced the hills blanketed with pine trees. The breakfast experience was wonderful. We looked forward to it. The French toast casserole and the quiche were delicious and conversation with both the cook and the inn-keeper was very nice.
We plan to stay there again next year. This inn definitely contributed to this memory-filled visit of beautiful Mendocino.
