Despite being built early 2000's, the hotel decor is so old fashioned and feels like it was built with a job lot of 90's building material and decor to get done on the cheap. Corridors feels being back to communistic times again from its look and feel (been there have the T-shirt).The standalone room, not a proper description when we ordered as our room was opposite a main line train with trains passing every few minutes which was not mentioned in the room review. After speaking to reception, eventually given an upgrade to a sea view room as our original booking, we didn't have an option to upgrade.
The room we had looked outdated with old decor. Even the bathroom had no standalone shower and was a mix bath with shower attachment and the shower screen was the old plastic handle pull screen which I haven't seen in over 30 years. Bathroom towel rails, radiator and shower caddy all with mild rust. No tea/coffee facilities in the room which all modern hotels nowadays provide at least.
The main dinning area is old fashioned. Breakfast options, slightly limited in my opinion but enough to get you by but enough to get you by but again outdated decor when sitting in the dinning area.
Thankfully only stayed for 2 nights as travelling through. Hotel & rooms were clean. Short walk to the port for the ferry which was ideal. For the money we spent for this hotel, not worth it in my opinion and no way a 4star hotel and more around 3 tops if anything.

The hotel was nice and clean and convenient to train and ferries
5.0 / 10.0
Can't understand the negative reviews. It's a hotel more set up for conferences than for lounging about, but our room was huge with a great view of the sea; the breakfast extensive; helpful staff at check-in and at the bar; and very convenient for the train station.

Excelent service,clean and amazing breakfast.

I stayed in 7 hotels and this was disappointing. It was £135 which made it one of the most expensive but it was really basic. For the price, there was no pool and it was not value for money. I stayed in hotels for the same price that had a wow factor (to be fair in neighbouring towns)
The hotel is dated but that was not the problem. It is a very basic hotel-eg shampoo with printed labels, no photos etc. Felt like a Travelodge
The area is quite run down but the good thing is it is a 10 mins walk to the old town to eat.
Service and breakfast choice was good

The personal was good but the condition from the structure was catastrophic

Excellent location. Fabulous hotel. It's located 10 mins by feet from the Port and 12 min from the Train Station. The room was clean and very spacious with a big balcony. Great view from the balcony to the beach. Intercontinental buffet for breakfast. Helpful staff. I highly recommend staying at Grand Hotel Salerno to families, couples or traveling solo. Great hotel for special events like weddings or business. 10/10.

DO NOT Stay at this hotel! There is NO air conditioning in the rooms and it is not a 4 star hotel by no means (maybe in the 1960s).
The location is a distance from the old town where tourists should visit and the beaches across the hotel are filthy and expensive. There is a very small public beach that’s in a parking lot.

There was nothing to like. I had ants all over my room. It was repulsive.

Place is an absolute dump, just like the city Salerno that it’s in.

Property is clean although it is a little old fashioned, staff are helpful, breakfast is pretty good, convenient location for the railway station and Molo Concordia port. My only criticism was the really poor wifi - my kids could not even get basic internet

I'm shocked by all the bad reviews for this property. The front desk was helpful when we checked in, and each of the 3 times I called down for help understanding how to keep the AC on in the room, my call was answered promptly and the person was quite helpful. The view from pur roon was beautiful and the location of the hotel is excellent.

The location and people are wonderful. During my stay the A/C in the room wasn't working for a few days. The second attempt to fix it worked but for 3 days this was an issue. The WiFi in the room is so weak I couldn't work so this was a real problem for me. I had to work in the lobby and there was only one plug to use for the A/C so this was not convenient. If you are on holiday, it is nice. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was okay.

The hotel pictures do not reflect truly what the hotel rooms look like. I would describe this hotel as a (1 star) hotel as the amenties are outdated, the hotel was clean but very uncomfortable, the staff was helpful and polite. The hotel rooms stunk of smoke despite the fact we were in an "non-smoking" room. The hotel was rundown, the rooms were good sized but very much outdated.

AC did not work. I called front desk numerous times, no answer. Parking is not guaranteed due to limited spaces, not guarded, and dark. I opened the window to cool the room down, but the window will not stay opened. HOT room!

I booked this hotel as my business meeting was taking place there and I was only staying for 2 nights. My experience was very far from positive. The hotel is very old and perhaps used to be great when it opened, but it's not anymore. My room had cracks on the walls, the bedsheets on the first day were stained and so were the pillows. The breakfast was below poor quality: no fruit, everything pre-packed, artificial orange juice and coffee from automated machines that was impossible to drink (in Italy!!). The only good thing were the pastries. The hotel is supposed to have a restaurant but in reality it's not open.
The worst part of my stay was my interaction with the staff. On the second night I had to take takeaway to finish off some work. Given there was no restaurant in the hotel, I got something from a restaurant outside. When arrived to the room I called the reception to ask for cutlery who connected me to the bar but they were not picking up. On my second attempt to call the reception the lady told me that the bar is not responding and she hang up the phone in my face when I asked how/if I can get cutlery.
I honestly do not know how this hotel maintains 4 stars!!! Unless you are going there just for a sleep, stay away if you can.

The staff were excellent and accommodating. The room was spacious and had a lovely view of the ocean. The property has a wide range of breakfast options and is walkable from the city center.
There was a school trip staying in the hotel during the same time, and they were very loud throughout the evening, night, and morning - including slamming doors and screaming in the hallways and breakfast room. The hotel is large and I would’ve preferred to have been given a room in a different area of the hotel, which may be outside of staff control.

The previous reviews for the property were all pretty spot on. The property is fine, nothing more. It seems like it used to be a pretty great hotel pre-covid, but most of their amenities were no longer offered other than breakfast and a bar that opens at 17:00. Breakfast was average. The hotel’s website said there was a restaurant which made it seem like they serve dinner, but they don’t. Also, I’m not sure the air conditioning actually ever worked. The staff were kind and helpful, and the views from the room were excellent.

Overall, poor. The service was below average, the hotel staff were generally unhelpful and at times rude. The continental breakfast was subpar to say the least. The hotel is marketed as a “spa hotel” yet the spa has been closed for two years. Wouldn’t recommend.
Only good thing about this hotel is that it’s by the water and walking distance from the main areas.

ocean view and sound of waves was awesome

The hotel is located in a great location. The rooms are large and clean. All areas are clean and tidy.
Overall the hotel needs repairs done as it is looking tired.
Although it advertises, a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, restaurant, and rooftop terrace, none are available.
These were the reasons I chose the hotel, so disappointed.
The only bar in the reception, is open limited hours, late afternoon until 10.00pm.
The staff are friendly and helpful, which make it a pleasant experience, but let down by lack of facilities.

Old and a bit run down but very comfortable and close to all amenities great shopping and restaurants
3.0 / 10.0
This hotel is in a great spot but is underwhelming. The air conditioner didn’t work properly, the wifi cut out often, the pool was empty (it was 33c in summer) and a frosty reception. But on saying that we’ve stayed in a lot worse and we’re grateful for the position and cleanliness
