Wonderful food, wonderful staff, great pools and beach area. 10/10

The first two days was a nice experience, everyone was so welcoming, the attention and the smiles were unique. Once that third day hit it was like you no longer exist it felt kind of weird specially for us since it was our first family vacation and we choose The Fives, because it came highly recommended. I mean you can have it all right! We were given coupons by our concierge Antonio that we could use with any of the excursions we choose and this information was confirmed by Luis the person that took our information for the excursion we chose. We were given a price and were told that we could use the coupons and also an additional discount for booking through Expedia. Upon checking out none of the coupons qualified for the additional discount promised for booking through Expedia. I was told that the particular excursion we chose the coupon did not apply. This was very disappointing and more because we didn’t even get a sorry or an apology for the misunderstanding. This hotel needs more training on how to approach situations like this, it was really sad that we had to leave with such disappointment from a supposed Five start hotel.

The Fives sincerely exceeded my expectations and those of my family.
Traveling with a family of 6 (4 teenage boys) makes for some challenging room options. The suite we got at The Fives was perfect. One entry way for everyone, but separate rooms for my wife & I and the boys. Just the right amount of privacy without needing to get fully separated rooms. The whole suite was clean and spacious, with multiple balconies and a killer view of one of the pools.
The staff was probably the star of the show. Everyone, and I mean, every single person's path we crossed was polite, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about our well-being. I can only surmise this is a positive work environment. It certainly reflected in how they treated the guests from my experience.
Honestly, I felt the need to sing The Fives' praises because we had an outstanding experience. I typically walk away from a trip reflecting on what to do different for next time. I wouldn't change a thing, and this hotel is the reason!

A/C temperature was too low and uncontrollable.

The property was lovely, the staff was very friendly and hardworking. There were many food options, and easy access to the pools & beach. We had a great time at this resort and will return again.

Stayed in building 8 and had short walk to nearby restaurant, Lizzards, and was less than 3 minute walk to plaza where the shops, spa, and other dining options were.
Walk to beach was longer, probably 7-8 minutes, so getting a shuttle ride was best. Shuttles were supposed to be on a 10 minute rotation but a lot of times the carts were full and we ended up having to walk anyways.
Food options were good but it is important to be an epic/vip member to be able to make reservations. If you don’t make reservations you should arrive at the restaurant you want to eat at by 5:30 pm. Showing up between 6-8 would result in hour plus wait times.
Overall, the resort was beautiful, staff were wonderful and helpful, beach was gorgeous. We had a wonderful time and would do it again.

This trip was with my teenager kids and we saved to make this happen in a nice hotel as this one, the only thing that was a disappointment was the restaurants, every restaurant we went to had a 2-3 hour wait, they do not do reservations so if we wanted to eat there we had to give our name for the waitlist, get a pager and had to wait 2-3 hrs within the area. We could not go anywhere else as the pager would only work close to the restaurant. My Kids and I love food and we were looking forward to trying all of the restaurants as they were highly recommended but the wait time to eat there was ridiculous, a few people were mad at the host and walked away. I would not expect to stay in such high quality and expensive hotel and have this ridiculous issue. We have stayed in 4 other hotels in Cancun before and never had this issue w/restaurants.
3.0 / 5.0
The hotel reviews and photos are misleading, as we discovered after booking a week in a penthouse suite.
Here is an honest assessment:
Pros:
The property hosts monkeys and other wildlife, features multiple pools, and boasts a pleasant beach.
Cons:
The rooms are outdated with many broken or chipped items, dirty grout and mildew in the bathrooms, and uncomfortable beds. Despite having a full kitchen, there were no cooking or eating utensils provided. The buffet food was constantly plagued by flies and gnats. A group of 10 of us fell ill with stomach problems. The alcohol was watered down, and the incessant pressure to buy time shares was off-putting.
Overall, considering the price, it's advisable to seek accommodation elsewhere that places a higher emphasis on cleanliness and customer service. This hotel warrants a rating of 3 to 3.5.

The Fives did not disappoint, we were delighted everyday! Celebrated my daughter graduating from college as a family and it was perfect!

Giving the resort a 5 because of its rating based on being a 4.5 star hotel! The food choices were AWESOME! There were maybe a few items I didn’t LOVE, but overall I loved most of the food. There’s tons of food options (they make fresh tacos and pizza right in front of you by the pool as well) and the resturaunts and the service and staff are excellent which made our stay the best and the drinks were good as well! What influences my rating most is how much there is to do! The hotel always has events and fun things planned so you never get bored (silent disco, pool foam parties, big fiesta brunches, casino nights etc) and it’s super lively day and night and family friendly. We went as a childless young couple and still had an amazing time. The negatives: the beach isn’t the BEST beach, they did an amazing job cleaning up the seaweed during seaweed season and the water was gorgeous, but it’s not the best beach in my opinion but the infinity pool overlooking it made up for that. The resturaunts sometimes had long wait times but at an all inclusive, makes sense. Overall, we will be returning to the fives!

This was absolutely a great place to stay. A little beat up by the hurricane, but staff did an amazing job to get everything working as soon as possible. Very accommodating.

The facilities are not great. The food options were limited and not good quality. Also, you have no idea what's open and when. We didn't know when some restaurants would be closed on what days. They don't give you any pertinent information. Mexican restaurant was the worst, go figure. The place didn't feel like authentic Mexico. Only one night there was a mariachi band. Otherwise there was some lounge singers playing bad songs. The alcohol brands were limited and not good. The beer was crap. No modelo or anything decent. Room service took forever and would be cold when you get it. I don't recommend this place. There's probably much better places for less.

We enjoyed our stayed at The fives. Amenities, facility, and accessibility met our expectations. Staff was courteous, friendly, and quick to answer and resolve problems. We had a wheelchair with us and we’re able to enjoy the property and activities in the surrounding areas. We had a couple of inconveniences, our room flooded because of a broken heater and room service never arrived one night -improvement needed in these areas. Overall, we loved it!

We booked our family vacation here, solely based on reviews we read regarding the resort being a family-friendly property and it did not disappoint. Our kids are 13,11 and 1 year old so you can imagine our concerns around safety and activities to keep the kids busy and happy. There was a nice amount of daily activities that the older kids would attend and partake in, especially with 9 pools on the property and we felt very safe taking the baby into the pools. We felt very comfortable and everyone was so accommodating every where we went from the pool attendants to the restaurants. We even ran short on milk for our little guy and everyone was more than happy to provide us with milk for his bottle when needed. The restaurants were good, we never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to be seated and the we loved that the nightly entertainment took place in the main lobby plaza area every night in the open air seating area with late-night snacks and drinks. Although the resort initially appears to be big, we were able to walk the entire property every day and never took longer than 10-12 minutes. We especially loved how many beds and chairs were set up at the beach with all the food stands.

I like the Pilates class and the bistro restaurant food and staff.
I disliked that it took them 90’ to give us the rooms, even though we arrived at 3pm (the check in time) and forced us to walk to the beach so they “buy” time to get the rooms ready; they walked to the beach )16’ away) not considering we were tired of the trip, just to send us to the further restaurant to eat a hamburger; we didn’t like the amenities, the beds on the double room were stiff, the rooms are outdated and untidy, the elevator in building 15 didn’t work during the length of the stay. We needed to use the stairs but they never wiped the water off them . I didn’t like the fact that most of the property is far from the beach except some small area for resident owners which gives the feeling that the resort is not at the beach; we didn’t like the drinks )all watery down even the non alcoholic drinks, when I order sprite they gave me soda!) we decided to just order straight drinks such as tequila or champagne, so I recommend against the mixed drinks; we didn’t like that the cabanas obstruct all the views so unless paying extra for them, the beach is mostly far away … we didn’t like that the resort restaurants take up to 1 hour to be seated. We had to book there because we went to a wedding but I wouldn’t recommend it at all!! The night of the wedding they sent some strawberries with champagne but they left everything outside the fridge, just to find a pile of ants inside the room and a hot champagn

Disappointed with this property. If you are used to relatively modern resorts with functionally appealing common areas and amenities, you will probably be disappointed too. The pool areas look dated. While the one-bedroom suite is a good size with two balconies, the air conditioner vent in the bathroom area leaked the first day. It was fixed but the ceiling was left a little messy with the drywall tape hanging. The biggest complaint is probably the fresh food component of the food service—namely the lack of fresh juices and fruits. The juices seemed like they could have been from some concentrate or powder. The prepared food at the restaurants was usually good though, so that was a plus. It’s a small property, and the restaurants are on the small side, which was both good and bad. The restaurants and pool bars are often closed so getting a bite or drink sometimes requires patience. Places I’ve stayed previously are more expensive so it’s definitely a case of you get what you pay for. And for the money, maybe this is worth it. But spending a couple of hundred more a night at a newer, larger resort, to me, is better.

We had an excellent stay this week even with the terrible weather. The staff was amazing from the time we arrived. They were so polite and helpful. The new villas and the pool area were amazing. Our kids didn’t want to leave. Thank you for a great week and allowing us to unwind.

This place was great. Everything was so clean. Staff were super friendly. Food was great. Loved the entertainment throughout the day. Only thing we didn’t care for was the inability to make reservations at a specific time, it was first come first serve but once we figured it out we just adjusted our plans. They give you a buzzer so you can go do something else while you wait. Would definitely recommend!

I loved the variety of different kind of restaurants on the resort. Me and the wife ate a differenty type of food every night for dinner and it was all good. The best spot for lunch is Lizzards. The staff on the whole property were amazing. We specifically loved Angel and Christopher from the entertainment team and Martin from Lizards. The shuttles running all over the priperty were great. My only complaint would be our check out which I think was a miss communication. Overall I would highly recommended this place to anyone and will likely be coming back.

I like the neighborhood feel, that you could walk around to difference pools/restaurants, or though the jungle on the boardwalk.
I did not like that they don't take restaurant reservations. It makes dinner time stressful. Some people like to plan and should be able to.

Excellent dinning options.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant options were excellent. We especially loved the Sushi and Mexican restaurant.
My only complaint (and this has nothing to do with the resort) is parents didn’t watch their toddlers and allowed them to play on the bar stools at the swim up bars.
4.0 / 5.0
I didn’t like that given that it is all inclusive we had to make reservations for every single restaurant and we had initially been told no reservations were needed for dinner

First they didn’t upgrade my room I had to pay Now the restaurant Azzazin Italy was bad in reservations I was not allowed to eat there. Even asked manager on duty said no. Waiting was roughly 3hrs wait to eat. The buffet was closed during lunch and dinner only open breakfast. I hated this experience. I took more family members this time. For the experience and it was let down.
