The building is incredible good! Everything was ok, unfortunately we did stay only one night.

The castle is beautiful, with every single detail taken into account. It is located on top of the hill, offering a breathtaking view. The swimming pool also has two outdoor jacuzzis. It’s a nice, quiet, and peaceful place to be. Finally, the restaurant at the hotel is a great option.

We arrived early and could check in. Used pool and jacuzzi overlooking Perugia. Lovely and relaxing at the end of the trip. First impressions of this ancient castle did not disappoint. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel and grounds were impressive. Room was very comfortable. Had a drink outside before dinner. Still taking it all in. Dinner was incredible. Had a great nights sleep and breakfast was a huge choice of self serve items. Lots of home made unusual choices. Loved our unique castle experience

We loved our stay here, what a gorgeous property! It is super close to center of Perugia too, you both feel like in the countryside but you are also right in the city. We can’t wait to go back!

A stunning boutique “castle” hotel, fantastic restaurant for dinner!!! Nice pool and hot tub. The view of Perugia is wonderful, especially during sunset. The staffs are helpful and warm. A few minor improvements can be made, like proving water/coffee/tea in room? The shower hot water was not consistent in my room.

The place was beautiful and the service team were exceptional.

We loved the idea of staying in a castle and it did not disappoint! The castle was beautiful and the grounds well kept. We were also fortunate ebough to run into one of the staff, Alan, who was able to tell us the history of the castle and area. Super interesting! We also dined at the property and the food was delicious.

Lovely place big you want the castle experience in the center of Italy, few options like this one. Very well restored castle with beautiful grounds. Not huge, so very cozy. We were just there in December, and we were lucky to have nice weather. But I am sure in spring or early summer it must be fantastic. They have a pool and 2 hot tubs. One this I pointed out, is the mattress and pillows need to be upgraded to reflect the level of the structure and excellent service. On the latter, everyone is extremely nice, and being more of a boutique setting, it is nice to get to know everyone. To finish, the restaurant is excellent. worth a stop but if for just dinner. it is very close to Perugia, so if you are renting a car, totally worth it.

I wish I could give six stars rating.

It was a really unique experience staying in real castle and staffs and food was really nice. Wonderful view was a plus. Highly recommend!

It's a beautiful property in a quaint town.

The property was breathtaking. Beautiful in every way. The short taxi ride to the city center and incredible views of Perugia from the property made it enjoyable. Our only criticism is that it was noisy at night.

This was our second stay at Castello di Monterone. It really is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The property and grounds are absolutely stunning! It is so peaceful and relaxing. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel is also wonderful. The location is great for exploring the towns and sights of Perugia! We will DEFINITELY be returning!

Beautiful restore property very clean with tiny rooms unfortunately we will not coming back ever we spend 3 nights there and the air conditioning in the all property does not work even in the restaurant where i invite 7 guests from the arra so you are sweating all day and whole night..i concluded that they tryng to save cost... understandable but not at the expenses of the costumers.. after expressing my self to the management they offer me lunch and some local wine but i decliner respectively.

Beautiful hotel and great view. Good choice to stay in this hotel if you have a car. The hotel is about 15 minutes driving distance from center of Perugia.

So interesting to stay in a castle. It’s a lively property and the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) is great. There is an easy atmosphere and the staff is helpful at all times. It’s very close to Perugia and the views are amazing.

This was the most beautiful property we have ever stayed at. Staying in a castle with so much history in the 13th century was surreal. The bedroom was a bit dark but castles aren't known for their big windows. Bed and bathroom were great. We had dinner there 3 nights which was also superb with good wines to match and reasonably priced for where we were. A gorgeous view from the restaurant and other areas. Perfect.

Awesome location. Awesome staff. Food was amazing. Peaceful. Serene. Perfect 3 day retreat for my wife and I!!!

Fabulous! Charming dip into history, but with modern conveniences. Loved everything about it- the room, the staff, the pool, the food, the views, the peace, and the history. Would love to return one day!

Compare to other “castello” Hotel, It was the best.
There are enough parking space at entrance and easy to load and bring up to the room.
Facility is nice and clean.
The staff are all friendly.
I recommend this place.

The Castle is gorgeous but make sure to arrive before dark as it's very difficult to find afterwards! When you arrive, follow the sign for "Residenza" - DO NOT follow the parking signs or you'll end up in the middle of nowhere wandering around in the dark as we did! Once we made it to the hotel, thato a very kind man who works in the restaurant, it was lovely, and the view when we woke up the next morning was spectacular!

Very special hotel with very nice staff

Property is beautiful.
My recommendation is only about the pillows, you should have different options.

We had a fabulous week, the hotel is clean, comfortable and beautiful, with friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was great and extensive and the dinners were excellent. The hotel is quite close to the City Center but you feel like you’re in the country.

Wonderful stay at this amazing location. I would highly recommend it.

Great service, lovely atmosphere, large room with a large comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, very good restaurant and close to the city centre.

This castle is magic. It has all the modern perks and it preserves the authentic feeling of the castle. Sleeping there feels like being part of a fairytale. The location and the view are breathtaking. Fantastic location to use as a base to visit Perugia too.
4.8
Perfect location, 15 mins from the airport, peaceful with fantastic views of Perugia and the sound of church bells echoing across the valley below. You definitely need transport though as it is too far to walk to the city centre. We stayed as a family of 4 in two interconnecting rooms. No damp castle rooms here, they are warm and dry and larger than we expected after some of the other reviews, one superior (with great view) and one standard.
Restaurant is a little lacking in atmosphere but food is good and staff are excellent. Breakfast is in the same place and is simple but good quality.
Pool is not heated but there is a sauna/steam next to it
Overall this hotel is superb value, pushing 5 stars and we will be coming back.

Amazing place, amazing spot.

Great location with fabulous views over the countryside and of Perugia. Very helpful staff. A truly amazing quality of food in the restaurant.

We were not disappointed by our selection of Castello di Monterone for our 3 day stay in Umbria.
All accommodations are in modernised castle rooms. We were in Gastaldo - one of the Superior rooms with views out onto the Umbrian countryside. Absolutely beautiful.
The restaurant at the Castello is excellent - see separate review.
The Castle grounds and gardens are superbly maintained and clean. There is a swimming pool, but we did not get around to making use of this during this short stay.
A good buffet breakfast is available. WiFi is OK and there was plenty of open air parking available at the time of our visit.
Great base for those planning to visit Perugia and the local Umbrian attractions.
4.8
This was a truly phenomenal stay. Pictures can not do this place justice. It is absolutely perfect. I recommend staying in the rooms with a view and eating at the restaurant. The staff at the castle including the restaurant were above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. The breakfast was also way more than a simple continental breakfast, it was delicious. Also do get a car and explore Perugia town.

Beautiful restored castle. Large property that is fun to explore they offer coffee and a nice restaurants for dinner and great breakfast assortment every morning. Very much to choose from. Made eggs and bacon for the Americans ! :). Staff very helpful. Property impeccably clean.
