Good hotel, and well localized. Clean and the staff very friendly.

A tired room, small and hideously overpriced considering the condition.. It's been a few months since I've stayed here, in this time the hotel and overall experience has declined. The staff I dealt with were arguably rude, arrogant and opinionated. A real shame it used to be great!

Had an absolutely amazing 1 night stay here. The staff are all so friendly, room was perfect and it is in such a great location. We dined at the restaurant in the evening and had breakfast to. Food was an amazing quality and tasted amazing. Would stay here again!

We stay quite regularly at the Swan visiting family in Stafford . We find it quite good from service point of you and great location.
However for the most part staff do not smile , maybe we are spoilt living in Ireland where staff in hotels are more friendly and the manager would at least acknowledge you particulalry as we are a repeat customer staying upwards of 4 nights at a time !There were a couple of exceptions including the night attendent & one /two bar staff .
In terms of food quality the cooked food for breakfast is very good.
Rooms are always clean & comfortable although little dated.

This was a birthday celebration stay. The staff were very helpful and the accomodation good. Our only disappointment was that the birthday meal took nearly one our for our main course and a good half hour for our desserts. It was a Saturday evening but we had booked for 6.30pm.

Staff are amazing. Rooms have character.
Rooms facing the street are a little noisy in summer when you have open the windows but apart from that lovely.

Charming bar and restaurant area - excellent quality breakfast
Sadly no food available after 8 pm and this was not communicated in advance - very disappointing after a long journey!

I was at room 110 just above restaurant. They put a lot of isolation but morning and evening full of noise. I could hear conversations of people below. additionally i could hear couple next to my room.
I would say extremely pleased with staff. They were beyond what a 3 star hotel offers.
Restaurant was so late to deliver our dinner and expensive as well. İt is not worth it.

Had a fantastic two night stay here - the hotel is a wonderful old building with lots of old features that make it quite unique. Staff to call out are Jason and Catherine who both went the extra mile to help make our stay seamless. We had dinner one night which was very tasty, the ambience is a nice buzzy atmosphere. Breakfast is a very varied menu to suit everyone and was very tasty too!
The only issue was trying to find the carpark as it's not particularly well sign posted.

Nice town and countryside

Great service and nice old hotel in the middle of Stafford. Train and bus station within 10 min walk and close to fast food, supermarkets, museum and other attractions. Great food and comfortable room. Would visit again if in the area!

I was on a remembrance and family/friends visit. The Swan is ideally located in the centre of Stafford and is a lovely old coaching inn. I decided to visit by rail and the hotel is only a 10 minute walk, through the park, from the railway station. The staff were friendly, professional and very pleasant. The only slight downside was that some of the furniture in my room was chipped. However, I understand there is a refurbishment planned in the near future. An easy to use car park is located at the back of the hotel and parking is free to all guests and anyone using the hotel facilities. I would have no hesitation in visiting The Swan again sometime.

Hotel room very clean and beds comfortable. Stayed before and had issues with noise from a kitchen extractor on all-night. As the hotel was nice though I thought I would give it a second go and asked for a quiet room. Unfortunately we had issues with noise again - our room was positioned directly opposite air condition unit which we were told went off at 9pm. This was not so and also music playing in the hotel went on for both nights until late - the noise was really loud. I've no problem with music but when you book a hotel to sleep in and the noise level
Stops you settling until the music stops it is very frustrating. Sound proofing of the room is also poor so hear lots of noise all night. We were not warned before hand about the live band and I phoned reception at 11:10 to ask when it was finishing, but got no reply. It's a lovely hotel but we slept badly for two nights so we're glad to get home for a rest, which defeats the reason for getting a break away. Sadly we will not book here again, and will now try a different hotel for our frequent trips to the area.

We enjoyed our stay at The Swan. It was over the bank holiday weekend, so when we reported that the toilet had a leak around the toilet base they had no maintenance staff available, so we had to keep putting toilet paper round the bottom of the toilet to soak up the liquid. On our second (out of 3) morning the plug got stuck in the bathroom sink. I had a phone call during the day to say they were going to change our room because of the problems that they couldn’t solve. So while we were out housekeeping removed all our belongings to another room. We gave our permission as we were at a conference until late evening, but weren’t happy that they were touching all our belongings, packing some in our suitcases and the rest in a black bin bag! We therefore had to unpack again when we arrived back at the hotel around 10pm. When we left this morning we told the manager we felt we should be compensated in some way and she said she would think about it and let us know. It was a considerable inconvenience after a long day and I must say we didn’t like the thought of someone else manhandling our personal items 🤔☹️, but we had no choice really. We hope the Manager comes up with some gesture of goodwill. Apart from that it was a lovely, comfortable hotel with a very good breakfast and staff.

Quaint , atmospheric hotel in the centre of Stafford . We received a warm welcome and stayed in a comfortable well equipped room . Coffee and tea making facilities in rooms . Food and drink available throughout the day and evening . An extensive menu , really tasty good . Breakfast was absolutely wonderful , all freshly cooked . The staff were friendly , personable and helpful . A lovely experience .

Curt welcome, no directions- room hard to find, room floor dips in centre - bed noticeably sloping, tv remote didn’t work, kettle chord too short to meet socket, hot room- windows wouldn’t open. Not a great experience

We loved staying at the swan, everything was perfect, from the lovely receptionist who welcomed us when we arrived, and all the wonderful staff who served us to the magnificent breakfast we had in the morning and everything in-between. Our room was really something special too, all in all just a fabulous stay

This is a nice hotel, lovely old building and lots of character. Staff was a mixed bag. Person who checked us in was nice, the restaurant (I assume) manager was a bit cheeky, wait and bar staff were fine. Breakfast filter coffee was not great, ask for a decent one instead, breakfast not as good as I remember last time. The bed was crazy hard and both my partner and I had a hard time sleeping well, due to that and the heat.
Restaurant food was nice, nice surroundings, on site free parking (barriered), interesting hotel. Some areas are obviously ignored by cleaning staff - staircase has a large CCTV camera half way down and it was disgusting. I'm sure many staff walk past it - run a cloth over it for pete sake!
I think I'd be more reluctant to go back again after this trip (our second) mainly because there were just one too many little things starting to outweigh the overall good things.

This is an old building so unfortunately when we arrived it was a heatwave so the room was pretty unbearable with only 1 small window and 1 small fan.
The downstairs bar and resto areas are nicely decorated and there is a lovely outside courtyard. Im afraid the bed was uncomfortable and we didnt sleep well but perhaps the 3 star rating represents this. Staff were friendly and there was free parking at the back of hotel - easy to find.

Best hotel in Europe!

Stayed in the four poster room 110 for an overnight en route elsewhere. We really enjoyed the ambiance the staff friendliness and location in the centre of Stafford.
Highly recommend indeed. Thank you

Great hotel, we stopped here in our way to Devon for a night. Husband, me & our dog. Check in was great, out room was lovely, even had a dog bed and treats waiting. Great food, would highly recommend even if not staying. Very high quality and well presented.

Lovely huge room
Big restaurant
On site entertainment
Radio in the room
Only negatives;
Shower could be better
We waited quite a while for someone to arrive at Reception to check us in/out but just be because we arrived late. Would be handy to have dedicated reception staff, rather than reception staff working behind the bar

Great spot, very central and a fabulous breakfast. I only stayed for one night and the staff were very helpful and a friendly bunch. Location is perfect and free parking is a bonus.

Absolutely stunning hotel and room, staff were great, friendly and helpful. We went for a delux room and it was lovely. The only issue we had was that the room was very warm and due to the age of the building, the windows didnt open. So we were slightly uncomfortable due to the heat. But the hotel did provide a fan. It helped a little but could do with either a portable air con unit or possibly looki g at installing windows that can be opened
1.5
Bit tired no air on and not equipped for the business traveller with no power sockets near bed or no desk Wifi slow and intermittent

The friendliest of staff, extremely clean, and very convenient.

The female General Manager checked us in and was rather gruff and unwelcoming. Not a smile or a "welcome". She said she couldn't give us 2 cards (keys) for the room as the machine wasn't working. We got a second one from another member of staff who said there was no issue with the machine. Not a good example to other staff. Our waitress in the morning was very pleasant. We stayed here when there was a heatwave and it was very hot in the room. We did get a small fan but really not much use. The duvet was so heavy and hot. It really should have been a 1 or 2 tog duvet rather than a thick, heavy one. The drains in the shower and the sink were blocked and really need a clean out. Not nice standing in 2 inches of water when you're having a shower.
