An amazing concept which was clean and tidy. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend even if not intending to ski (we were passing through en route home from Greece)

Noisy and hot the whole night. I have selected this hotel because of the announced fitness and spa. Both have been closed without any prior notice.

Fabulous location near to the centre of town, great free shuttle service to and from the ski lift. Room was clean and comfortable and although there were groups of children staying at the hotel, it was very quiet at night. Good shower and plenty of space in the room. Great choice for breakfast and lovely bar/lounge area to relax. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the housekeeping staff who were very friendly.

Fabulous location for ski lifts and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent too. The spa facilities are separate to the hotel. Make sure you take flip flops and a towel or you have to pay to hire them. Entry to the facility is also at a fee each time.

The hotel has a very interesting layout. It was buiilt in 1937 and is similar to the Gugenheim museum in NY, in a sense that the rooms are arranged around a spiral corridor that goes up from the first floor all the way to the 8th. Advantages: the breakfast was very good, a lot to choose from. The hotel is very close to ski lifts - about five minutes drive and the hotel provides a shuttle bus. It is also a 2 minute walk to the center of the little town of Sauze d'Oulx where shops, restaurants and pubs are. There is a ski/snowboard rental on hotel premises (in the basement) with efficient with an efficient employee (thanks Randy). There are also lockers to keep the skiing equipment. Disadvantages: The hotel is really overpriced in the winter. I'm not sure why they call themselves VIP, as the hotel and the rooms are pretty basic. Furthermore, the hotel does not have its own swimming pool, but rather the spa complex is in a separate building next door, a short walk across the parking lot. We got two vouchers for free entrance, but we were there for five days. The entrance to the pool and spa are around 18 euros per person per day. The hotel does not have landline telephones between the rooms, nor do rooms have any kettle to make tea. The two elevators constantly malfunctioned. To summarize - not a VIP hotel, probably something like 3 stars, but the stay was still very enjoyable due to the hotel's location, nice staff, great skiing and the general athmosphere.

AVOID THIS “HOTEL”. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and resembled more of a hostel than hotel. The staff are rude and unhelpful. On one occasion we asked for a bottle of water (at approx midnight) and were told that it was not possible as the bar had closed. What type of hotel doesn’t even have a vending machine so that guests can purchase water? On another occasion we asked for extra towels and were interrogated as to the reason why this was required. The rooms are badly in need of upgrade and the beds are very uncomfortable. The spa which is at extra cost, is quite old and felt dirty. The hotel was extremely noisy making it very hard to relax. During our stay a group of school children (approx 70 kids) were staying in the hotel and they were let run wild. On numerous occasions there were knocks on our door by kids who then ran away. The noise was constant and unbearable, so much so that we spent as little time in the hotel as possible. When I asked the front desk to contact the teachers/guardians to have the kids more behaved my concerns were laughed off. We paid over €280 per night during our stay and it’s definitely the worst value for money I’ve ever experienced. I never once felt relaxed in the hotel and would never go back. I could go on and on with other issues ranging from torn carpets in halls to elevators that felt like they hadn’t been serviced in years. Overall it was a horrible stay that stained an otherwise enjoyable holiday.
