The room was not ready despite our late arrival. I had to make our daughter's bed and the AC in her room was not working properly. Overall, the management made up for the shortcomings but it was a bit of a drag. Great beach and friendly staff.

It was a good relaxing vacation hotel
8.0 / 10.0
Although we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we would have liked the entertainment at the hotel to be more varied as it seemed to be geared towards children. The food at the hotel restaurants was not completely to our liking, but fortunately, there were many restaurants outside the property that were of a very good standard.

The hotel had everything one could want for a beautiful holiday in Crete. The private beach was a real highlight for us.

This hotel has something for everyone. Excellent food options, evening entertainment for both children and adults, ample sun beds and pools, private beach, two free tennis courts. Conveniently located within walking distance of shops and dining options. Staff couldn't do enough for you

I loved the sea view room and that the resort was in walking distance to so many shops a restaurants! Beautiful location!

Private beach, good sand, very friendly Greeks. People easily speak two or three languages. Well done Alexander!

Property is absolutely lovely! Very clean and well maintained. We upgraded our room so that we had a view of the beach and pool and were close by. Room was very big and clean. Staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. We would absolutely stay here again. Easy walk into Stalia and close to Malia (you could also walk this).

The staff were AMAZING. Very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent: more options and better food than we ever expected. The grounds were beautiful, and pools were fabulous. Loved the beach and that we could walk to shops and restaurants. A in every way.

The property is beautiful - and large!! The staff is extremely friendly. It’s a very well-maintained property. You can play pool, ping-pong and tennis and the spa is wonderful too. The breakfast buffet is expansive as well. We ate once at the restaurant and it wasn’t bad, not the best we’ve had, but good.

There is a lot to like about this hotel. First, the people are super friendly and service minded. The premises are gorgeous with well kept gardens, great pools and beautiful views to the sea. That being said, the hotel is more a 4+ star hotel rather than a true 5 star hotel. We were lucky to be upgraded from a classic sea view room to a superior sea view room. Sea views are extraordinary gorgeous and totally worth the extra money.
The negative parts are the terrible beds, they are way too soft and give no support to the back. One of the worst beds I ever slept in. Second, the breakfast is extensive but not practical with the COVID measures, where one has to point out in a queue what one wants at every station. It’s not 5 star worthy. There are other COVID-prove measures possible. Another thing is that the hotel is germanized. Meaning most employees address you in German which got on my nerves.

Just loved it! I wasn’t sure when I booked. I thought it might be too big for this boutique hotel lover, but The Alexander did not disappoint. Warm and friendly staff, lovely ocean/beach and gardens in picturesque groupings of small clusters of rooms which are all easily accessible to the central hotel and dining areas. Half board featured a staggering array of buffet options at breakfast and dinner including fresh fruits and vegetables and Greek dishes as well as other supporting ethnic dishes. While there might have been an item or two that I didn’t care for, I loved there was so much that was new to me that I was able to try! And I really admire any buffet than can deliver so successfully on the taste and texture of freshly cooked fish! In all a very lovely experience that I hope singles, couples and families will enjoy as I did.

Perfect location right on the beach. Great animation staff lots of pools and bars however the drinks are a bit pricey compared to other bars on the main drive. Breakfast was amazing lots of delicious choices and great chef omelettes. Overall great experience!

The entertainment staff was great. The kids club was a big hit with our daughter. Would have liked a few more options on beer and wine but we managed! Would recommend the hotel.

We have stayed there for 1 week, amazing view, beach is right there. However service is very slow breakfast didn’t have lots of options and we constantly had terrible smell in the room after lunch. We also had cockroaches in the room

Incredibly noisy all day long. Really bad food. Worn out hotel, certainly not worth five stars

I'm pretty happy with the stay overall. The hotel is in a good condition and has many amenities.
A few things to mention that I was not happy with.
- When checking in nobody told anything about the WiFi. That's fine as long as it's something standard like last name and room number. It turned out you have to insert a special username that you can never guess.
- Also neither at the check in nor when reserving a table for the dinner nobody told anything about the dress code. No shorts and no flip flops. Generally it's okay, but being denied entrance for dinner the first day and having to go back to room to change is not a great experience.
- The "do not disturb" signs are absolute crap. They never stay on the doorknob and fall off with a slight wind. The room service is def going to wake you up if the sign is not on the door.
- Windows - the rooms have large windows that bring in a lot of light, which is great. What one should be aware of is that if your neighbor is out on the balcony they can clearly see inside your room, so you have to make sure the blinds are on (and you're in darkness) when you're up to something private.
On the positive side - this hotel has the best WiFi I've seen on Crete. I'm not sure why but internet is really a problem on Crete.
Generally it's a great hotel. Though I'm not sure if I'll book it next time I'm on Crete.

The hotel is definitely not an international 5*. It has no room service, no food after 10pm. Rooms are hit and miss.

Very happy with the hotel and our room. Right next to the water and with a sound proof room. A very nice beach if you want to experience the very warm sea, also lots of pools. Breakfast was extensive, good coffee. Didnt eat dinner at the hotel since we wandered out into the local area for dinners. Great service.

A five star experience, and don’t forget to visit Socrates at the pool bar!

Perfect fit for a stay for a family with kids; nice, big pool; no waiting in the main restaurant (buffet-type setup, ideal for kids as no waiting is required)
(A hint for the hotel: It would be nice if the hotel would keep a stock of inflatable pool toys (inflatable unicorns? What happened to the world...) available as pretty much every family disgardes their toys at the end of the stay or tries to hand it to another guest. Maybe the hotel does this, I didnt' ask, but should have.)

I stayed here two nights and two nights in another neighbouring 5-star resort, it was like day and night. Alexander is more like a 2 or 3 star compared to their neighbouring 5-star resort (Ikaros). In the 2 nights we tried 3 different rooms at Alexander. The first room wasn’t too bad except the water coming out of the shower was brownish (room 38).The second room we tried was on the ground level (which you should avoid when booking) (room 35). It was infested with ants and other insects. They offered to spray the room to kill the bugs but I asked for another room. The third room was one of their newly renovated rooms, which wasn’t bad except for the very strong new smell of paint and plaster (room 135). I feel much worse for my friends that paid much more for a “family room” with two double beds. It was really cramped and didn’t have two double beds, when we asked about this they said that the two beds are only a request and that they don’t have any rooms with two double beds. So my friends paid nearly 90 euros more for a room that was basically the same size as ours. And their room had ants also (room 41), not as bad as room 38 though. The food for lunch and dinner is just ok, nothing special. Worst baklava in the world though, they should be ashamed of serving it. The reception is not friendly at all. Any question or issue they take as a big hassle and inconvenience to them. Also, there’s no wifi in the rooms. My suggestion is avoid Alexander.

I have ordered 2 rooms for 3 persons.
Was very disappointed from the room. Pictures on website didn't reflect reality.

Upgraded on arrival to a junior suite. Nothing was too much trouble for staff , all very helpful and friendly. All facilities were clean and fresh . Breakfast had a wide choice of hot and cold , including pancakes, smoked salmon and champagne on Sunday's.
Went in the last week of april/beginning of may , hotel wasnt busy , sun loungers always available and beautiful hot weather .

The hotel is situated on the beach and has two pools. The rooms are nice, with balconies and are clean. Only one restaurant buffet, it is better to book breakfast included. No more choices for dinner, you can eat dinner outside the hotel. I give three stars not five.

I have really enjoyed my stay at the Alexander Beach Hotel. Everything was excellent including access to the beach. The hotel staff were fantastic but the food was not so great. However, the food in the bar near the beach and in the outside a la carte restaurant were very good.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to friends and I would really like to go back again in the future.

Its 99%for German spoken tourist/countries and at reception they give priority to Germans. But rest of the resort staff was really helpful and cheerful. Its designed for families thats why we have chosen it. At dinner you have to pay for water and juices. Coffee only available during breakfast otherwise its paid for. But overall we liked it.
