Very nice hotel staff amazing

This was an extraordinary experience: from the moment we were welcomed by staff, the journey with the trolley up the mountain to the reception of the hotel, the welcome drinks, the view from our room, the amazing dinner, and always friendly staff. The special garden and the lemon trees, an excellent destination. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous. A hike up- but absolutely worth it! Like a dream.

The staff were very accommodating and helpful.

Charming hotel with a really nice staff. Beautiful antique living room, amazing views of the sea, great lunch and dinner offerings, clean rooms, and nice gardens throughout.
Cons:
The food and drinks were really overpriced. 20 Euros for a Jack and Coke or lemon spritz in Maiori is ridiculous. The breakfast offering needs work. Beware of the amount of stairs and climb for your stay. Please prepare to climb 3 stories every time in addition to the 2 lifts.
As a note to HBSL, for the 4th floor center balcony…maybe build a half wall between the balcony for some privacy and exclusion.

Amazing stay at the Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro. Staff was extremely accomodating, amazing facility. Hope we can make it back to the region in the future to stay there.

I never write reviews unless its really good or awful. This place was awful. Do not go here. We are writing this only because we requested a partial refund and it was denied. It looks great from photos, but there are no signs to look for entry. The Room with the Hot-Tub had ants everywhere and spiders, and the alcohol in the mini fridge was in-fact drunk. When they upgraded to switch rooms, we saw that the same alcohol drink was full versus the one in the first room which was half full. Then we closed the door, it locked us out, and instead of waiting for hours to get back in- we left the hotel entirely and left about 400.00 worth of flowers in the room. I requested a refund by email partially since we stayed 1 of 2 nights were denied. Still ants in new room. They tried but it was a failure, and at least a partial refund would be suitable.

I loved my stay! The property itself is beautiful with the best view in Maiori! I was nervous about the parking situation and finding the hotel based on the other reviews. When we arrived at the location google maps said it was located I called the front desk and someone came down within 10 minutes to greet us and take us to the parking area. He also carried out bags and brought us up the lift. We were given welcome drinks and ate a light lunch at the pizza garden. I thought the food was very good despite the limited menu. I tried everything once and I truly loved it all. The location is perfect to walk to the shops, restaurants and beach. While the listing says there is a “private beach” what they mean is the hotel has a blocked off section beach front with chairs and towel included which was amazing. The staff were all so friendly! I had a massage and I love that as well. The only negatives I would say is that there is not a traditional shower. Just a tub. And the bed was not very comfortable but I’m sure it’s hard to order new mattresses due to the location. I preferred to stay in Maiori over Almafi (25 min drive from hotel) or Positano because it was a lot less crowded with the same beautiful views and great food! I would return!

I travel often and have never had an experience like this with a hotel. I booked a stay here through Expedia two months prior to our visit. Just a week and a half before our trip, Expedia emailed me that this hotel could no longer accommodate us and was cancelling our reservation. Meanwhile, I could see on all hotel booking sites that they had plenty of the same room I booked for sale for much more money than I originally booked ours.
When I called Expedia, they said there was nothing they can do so I spent lots of long-distance dollars trying to get a hold of the hotel. When I finally did get a hold of someone, they told me that they were overbooked. I let them know that I had proof and pictures that they were trying to take my room away and sell it for more money online and this was not good practice. After spending $80 on the phone to Italy, we came to an agreement that we will only stay for three of the original 6 nights and they would upgrade us to a better room with a free bottle of wine.
Once at the hotel, the room was a downgrade and there’s no bottle of wine. Even though we had already paid Expedia for the room, the hotel upon check out claimed they never received the money. I’ve dealt with Expedia many times and had never had a hotel claim this. We had to pay the hotel again even though we had already paid through Expedia. The manager assured us that he would have Expedia refund the original amount but he never did and he is not answering their calls.

The staff were superb. The room was just right. The food was great. This is a stunning property - so different from any place I've stayed. The gardens are lovely. The pool is beautiful and was perfect. The elevator ride is wild and gorgeous. I have some pretty bad knees but even the stairs were fun and exhilarating! The beach club across the street is a gem. The people who work at HBSL are AMAZINGLY lovely and I felt at home. Always a friendly greeting from everyone. I miss Domenico and his team tremendously. From the relaxing, buffet breakfast with so many choices to the wonderful meals at Donna Clelia (with superb service by Nicola), the food was outstanding. Thanks for carrying our huge bags up the stairs and down again. I love HBSL and will be back.

The room was dirty, I had to clean the bath tub. We had no hot water day one so we could not shower till the evening. The staff does not speak much English, so that was difficult. The food was not great, they had no information in the room about room service and things to do. It does have lots of steps and that was difficult but I knew that going in. I would never recommend this place. Not sure who gave them a 5 star rating but it needs a 2 star rating. The amount of money I wasted on this hotel is aggravating.

Mattress felt 30 years old. Worn furniture. Bartender told my husband he couldn’t make him a negroni because he didn’t have oranges while standing in front of a bowl of oranges. Room cleaners working past 10:00 pm were very loud. Thin walls. On the plus side, the spa manager Erika was very sweet. The steam room was a lovely experience once we got in (the front desk manager told us we had to book it in advance even though no one was using it) and was very clean. Overall, this property was not good value for your money.

Extremely hard to find. There is no hotel sign from the main road and you access the hotel by driving to the back of a shared parking lot. Once there, you take a lift up the steep hillside, step out, then walk up 3-4 large flights of outdoor steps to reach the reception desk, then you take another elevator to reach your room. Views are amazing! We came with our 2 small dogs and their crates, so it was quite a shuffle. There was a man there to help us park and find our way up to the hotel. The staff was super friendly! The rooms are very dated, no shower curtain or glass, so it sprays the entire bathroom, the hot tub and sauna were broken and the pool was not heated, but the on-site massage therapist and steam room were awesome!! Dinner was also great in the restaurant. Location to the boardwalk was perfect!

Great location, superb hotel, amazing facilities and gorgeous views

Fantastic view and very nice staff. The major negative was finding the hotel which is almost impossible. You have to go to another hotel and turn in its parking lot and continue on behind it to find a small sign for the hotel.

We reserved the standalone apartment carved into the cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea's beautiful blue water. We had total privacy and a huge Terrazza with carved outdoor shower and stone outdoor fountain and spa. The apartment was nicely furnished and view from bedroom was lovely. The restaurants all served amazing food. Staff was very conscientious and helpful. The beach town of Maiori is lovely with a strip of cages, restaurants and beachside bars. There is an old town area as well that is very quaint. We visited during the shoulder season in October just before the town starts shutting down the beachfront for off-season, but there was plenty to do. Recommend getting scooter to tool around up the cliff. Don't take the city bus from Salerno or Positano - take the ferry or get a driver.

Hotel Botanico is a gorgeous hotel in a beautiful location. It's a little hard to find from the street level as you must enter and pass through another hotel's parking but this is what allows the hotel to have such amazing views. I can't imagine any rooms at this hotel have anything less than a spectacular view of the ocean. The hotel staff is very friendly, helpful, and available at all hours. All areas of the hotel were very clean. We'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

It’s location is fantastic with great views and close to restaurants, shops and the beach. Family run and delightful staff. It says 5 star but I think these were awarded many years ago. My shower flooded with every use despite my reporting it.Little things lacking mean it’s a unique hotel and I would return but don’t expect the full 5 star experience.

If you’re an experienced traveller. You will love this hotel. The scenery is breathtaking and the hotel has seemingly endless places to relax. Staff was amazing and the room gave us such a nice cozy Italian country feeling. Maiori is from here on out forever on our bucketlist. Thanks to this hotel and that amazing town 10/10

Oh my goodness- this hotel is situated in the most beautiful location, with a superb view of the coast and access to the beach club. Great food and supreme service and friendly staff. The hotel property is so quaint with all the nooks and crannies, beautiful Infiniti pool. Check out their website photos, you'll be even more impressed after your stay

The hotel must have been great once upon a time, now it is not worth the price or the hassle. We checked into a room for 4, we had ants on the bed on the first night. We reported to the hotel and it was ok for one night and then they were back, this time on all the beds. We paid extra to have a child accommodated in the room, but they would still place towels and toiletries for lesser people and needed a reminder each time, not the level of service would expect. The breakfast was poor, the quality of food and its freshness was not up to expectations. The Shower was another issues, I had a difficult time fitting into it. The room had mould, cobwebs, and a leaky roof. Eventually we decided to cut our stay short and leave early and there was no refund or attempt to understand the recover from the management. Quite disappointed overall.
For the price we paid, much better options to be had in Amalfi.

We took ferry from Salerno (½ hour-recommended vs. bus). Hotel entrance is behind Pietra Di Luna parking lot. Take an elevator, then an incline lift & finally 75 stairs to lobby. A porter will carry luggage & arrange shuttle to the port.
The location & view are outstanding. Stayed a week in a Premier Suite on top floor with huge wraparound patio. It was spacious & comfortable with a loft bedroom. Premier suites do not have showers – but a spa tub with sprayer.
Our son & daughter in law stayed in a standard room that was smaller but comfortable - with shower-no tub & a nice outdoor sitting area.
The grounds are beautiful with many gardens, small outdoor gym & great pool (60 stairs down from lobby). You can also use the beach of a small club if you prefer the sea.
The staff was amazing - very friendly & helpful & will arrange side excursions.
The included breakfast was the best during our 3 weeks in Italy. Selection included European, Asian & American options & omelets. We also had good pizza, pasta & salads on their lunch patio and an amazing dinner at their main restaurant.
The town is not overly touristy or crowded (our preference), but we found sufficient dining, attractions & easy ferry transportation to other coast towns.
We plan to return to Maiori next year for 2 weeks and will definitely stay at the Hotel Botanico San Larrazo. Highly recommend!

Vegetarian food is the unlikely food as always non vegetarian is the precerance of all. Hotel need to improve. The daily rent is on higherside compared to 5 stsr hotel.

The hotel had a really nice view of the town and coast. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
One down note was the shower - there was no door or glass pane around the bath tub and no fixed shower head. It was hard to have a shower.

Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi coast. The hotel is beautiful & all of the staff are only too happy to help.

Location stunning, views exceptional, staff - the best we’ve had. Deluxe queen room had a huge double sided balcony with sea views and sun from 10. Couldn’t wait for breakfast which is stated as continental, however the choices were endless, fresh and different daily. Eat in the restaurant twice, not to badly priced compared to other seafront restaurant but with the service, veiws and quality -worth it. Brilliant location for exploring the whole coast using the water taxi / ferries. Pompeii and M Versuvis are a must, hotel organised a day trip (which we dont usually do) but this was well worth the 50euro each just for the transport and guide. Only downside was panoramic lift was out of order from 2nd day - a lot of steps in heat and going up and down to town 2/3 times a day - nice walk and kept us fit (after good food and wine) though. Brilliant

Beautiful location. Very nice rooms. The lift was down so we had to trudge up 10 flights of steep stairs in the heat. Ants were a problem. The property shows some minor sighs of not being cared for. Shower was very small. Would stay there agin but nt for price paid.

This is a unique hotel that grows on you the longer that you stay.
I find the Italian star ratings for hotels slightly different to other countries.
At first I was slightly underwhelmed by the property but then I started to fall in love with the location the room and the view.
A lot have thought has gone into the decor which may not be to everyone’s taste.
Great views of Maiori and a pleasant place to simply relax and do nothing but watch the world go by.

Beautiful view, very friendly staff.Located in a cute little very local and touristy neighborhood. You can get to more touristy places like Positano and Amalfi by ferry, and the ferry terminal is about 15 min walk from the hotel. You may not like it so much if you want more energy/festivity that comes with more touristy regions, but this is a cute little local town with far better beach / sunbathing environment than Positano.Never had dinner at this hotel, but breakfast was awesome - lots of home-style grilled veggies, and cappuccinos made to order.Just beware that you will be climbing up and down a fair share of stairs, like most other hotels along the Amalfi coast.
2.0
Very small and dark rooms, the tiniest imaginable shower, almost not usable, have never stayed at a five start hotel with such uncomfortable rooms. Turned pants for cleaning, pants were returned with additional stains, and the original stain was not removed either, moreover, the item either has not been ironed at all, or a terrible job was done. My wife checked the pants just in case right after we received them and expressed disappointment to the front desk staff. The staff was not helpful, told her pretty much that they could call laundry but there is no point really. Some staff members were fine at the hotel, others were grim, some - right out rude, especially the night shift front desk person. No matter what you ask of him, he would tell you to deal with it in the morning, it seems because he did not wish to be distracted from watching TV. The only good thing about the place is the views, but you get fine views in Amalfi coast just about from anywhere. Pick different hotel, this one is not a five start hotel, not even close.
5.0
Beautiful hotel. Quirky and ornate.
It can appear overly fussy for British tastes in the photographs but the decor works. Very Italian and very classy.
Excellent staff who could not be more helpful or friendly. Very clean. The grounds ramble on terraces to either side and we were still finding new areas after four days.
The only observation ( not a complaint) is that it is difficult to find the entrance from the road. Needs better signage.
We woke up one morning to have a woman playing a harp below our balcony!
Apart from the final flight of stairs which could be difficult for the infirm you cannot fault this hotel.
Loved it!
