Property could be cleaner. Bad service. No coffee pods or water available. Staff wasn’t much help at check in.

It was such a great experience and hotel staff was awesome!

The view is amazing!
The pool was heated so we could use it even by cloudy 20 degrees outside.
The apartments are nice with a nice inside and outside table.
To improve:
They need to exchange the knifes to cut. They weren’t sharp at all. And the hygienic plastic bed sheet is a bad solution. It makes so sweat the whole night even the kids were complaining.

Beautiful resort with very nice staff. We slept soundly due to the quiet area and the comfortable bed. The shower is excellent and the bathroom looks like it’s updated as all the fixtures are of a high quality and nice design. We chose the breakfast option and it was delicious with a lot of choices. All the food was very fresh. You can even boil your own egg if you don’t want the scrambled eggs. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

The room was barely bigger than the bed. No place to open a suitcase. We had to put the suitcases on the bed, get out what we needed and then close them up again.

The location of the property overlooking the ocean is breathtaking. We enjoyed having our meals in the terrace while admiring the garden and the sea. Parking within the property was very convenient. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The food at the Illira restaurant is exquisite and I highly recommend it.

The rooms smelled of mildew. They were remodeled recently, but still felt cheap and old inside.

A lovely setting for a memorable vacation. Beautiful views, comfortable rooms and a quaint town just steps away. We will definitely be back.

Amazing pool. Great location on cliff top, easy walk into town for access to restaurants, etc. yet quiet. Wonderful value for the quality of the property. We had a 2 person studio which came with a well equipped kitchen. We booked initially for 5 nights and liked it so much we extended an additional night. Also very well placed for trips in the area. We hiked to Hendaye (about 4 hrs) and took the train back, day out in Biarritz (we preferred St Jean) , spent the day in the beach, hiked in Espelette.. just a great trip. Would happily repeat.

Exquisitely, unforgettably beautiful grounds & location. Wonderful littoral footpath into town of St Jean de Luz. Main areas for improvement: service — especially upon leaving. No staff person whose job it was to see that we got down the spiral staircase safely with our suitcases (we’re seniors). 2nd area: no grab bars in tub which was very deep & hard to get in& out of.

Clean and very comfortable with plenty of room for my family of 5. Beautiful grounds and view of the ocean.

Great location and lovely views. Just a short walk into St Jean de Luz.

What a beautiful spot! Gorgeous views and wonderful location. So great to be able to leave the car and walk down to town and back along a stunning coastal pathway. We didn’t have a long stay. and being with young children didn’t take advantage of the gorgeous patio and dining options, eating in the town both nights. The excellent kitchenette in our studio made vacation catering with kids easy.

We did not plan to stay in St jean de luz as we flew in to san sebastian last minute. There were no hotels available since it was a nationaly holiday on october 12. We were completely unaware so I went on hotels.com to find the nearest hotels. St jean de luz was the closest city and this hotel stuck out because of its great reviews. Hôtel et Résidence La Réserve lives up to all the great reviews. the hotel is overlooking the water. They offer rooms with balconies so you can enjoy the view and catch a beautiful sunset/sunrise. I'd highly suggest this as I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. The Language barrier was no problem here for american travelers. The hotel staff spoke perfect english. One last thing I must boast about is the dinner at their restaurant. My girlfriend and I ate dinner here and had the best meal on our trip thus far. The food was exquisite and the service was excellent. all servers were very personable. I suggest the 7 plate course. It's the chefs pick and the chef at their restaurant is truly skilled. All in all this hotel really offered a splendid stay, Id highly suggest even just one night at this hotel if you are visiting this area

The hotel is in a beautiful situation and the landscaping is very attractive too.Its an easy walk with great views into St Jean de Luz. The room was comfortable and regularly serviced. Although expensive, breakfast was excellent. We found the front desk staff exceptionally helpful - they went out of their way to help us with our plans and arrangements. The only blip was that we were not allowed an iron or ironing board in the room and had to walk through the gardens to another building to a bleak laundry room just to iron over our shirts!

A relaxing hotel on a bluff 20 minute walk along sea promenade or 5 minute drive from the center of charming St Jean de Luz. Hotel has lovely terrace & rolling lawn down to heated pool. Waves crashing on rocks below. Spend the evening strolling the pedestrian area of town before dining in one of the countless restaurants. Take a day trip to San Sebastián, Bayonne or Basque villages.

We enjoyed a large apartment in La Residence building, overlooking the pool and the ocean, ideal for families, with separate kitchen, living room, bedroom. Efficient staff. Great location, walking distance to town, beautiful views on the walking path to St Jean de Luz.

We love it. Hotel is within the “ville d’Hiver” site of many beautiful old and luxurious villas.

Just the perfect place to stay! You can see and hear the ocean from your room, and although I’m sure the hotel was full it never felt like it. The pool is beautiful and never crowded. The hotel is a 15 min stroll from the beach at St Jean de Luz - the most beautiful of all the towns in the basque coast. We also ate in the restaurant once and had a fantastic meal - 6 course “Carte Blanche” tasting menu.

Good food, family/ kids friendly, nice rooms (quiet, cool, well maintained). Nice pool with view over the ocean, a bit crowded in August.

I have always loved to stay at La Reserve, a superb location, best refined local food and great atmosphere. Saint Jean de Luz is truly a wonderful town.

We had a fantastic stay at La Reserve. We loved the room which went straight out into the beautiful gardens. Despite it being October l still managed a swim in the infinity pool overlooking the sea. We ate in the hotel one night and that was a real treat. The hotel is very well situated for walking to the beach and into St Jean de Luz.

Although this hotel catered mainly for French guests the staff were always helpful to guests who spoke limited French. Room and all amenities were in good condition. Didn't sample the restaurant as there were lots of choice in the town at more competitive prices. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Stylish hotel with comfortable rooms. Loved the pool and grounds. Terrace was spoilt by very uncomfortable loungers. Had ongoing problem with room keys not working which was annoying. Beds very comfortable.
