Lovely cozy small hotel, the staff are so friendly and amazing, especially Marjut, she went above and beyond helping me with the check-in and instructions since my check in was after 9 and there was no staff working beyond this hour!

We stayed here two separate nights, on our way up to and back from Northern Finland. The staff is exceptionally helpful. We had a very early arrival one day, and they were nice enough to have our room ready for us at 10:00. A.m.! Of course, they cannot guarantee this for everyone. The rooms are small by American standards, Pat, if you don't have to unpack a huge amount of luggage, we had plenty of room for two adults with two big suitcases and two carry-ons. If you are in the main building in an odd-numbered room, you will be facing the supermarket across the street, which keeps its lights on until fairly late at night. It didn't bother us, and we slept like locks. But if you need an absolutely dark room, try to get a room that is even numbered in the main building, or in the second building that is just to the north of the main building. Breakfast and lunch buffets were both quite good. We saw lots of locals there. Not the best meals we had in Finland, but we did enjoy them. Behind the second building, which is to the north of the main building, is the river. There is a gravel Trail that leads down to a small Pier. This is a gorgeous spot for photos. It's also pretty dark at night, so you might catch the Northern lights there. Finally, although the hotel is at the Northern end of town, it is across the street from one grocery store and a 5-minute walk from another. You are right on the main drag, and can walk to a few restaurants and shops.

The hotel condition is farliy basic , however this is more than compensated by the excellent food which was not overpriced and was amazing plus all the staff were very freindly - will definatley go back to if i get a chance to do so

The receptionist was extremely helpful and kind. The room was specious, comfortable and had its own sauna which unfortunately didn't work. The receptionist arranged a refund immediately for the extra we paid for it. We ate at the hotel restaurant, the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

Absolute gem! We took the room with a sauna and loved it. The staff were very helpful and lovely. Everyone we spoke with friendly and helpful from the welcome to the goodbye. We used the laundry which was easy and very well priced. Lovely area in the summer, I hope to visit in the winter soon 😁... Big shout out to the young waitress (and guide in the winter) who spoke with us about our plans and winters in Ivalo - sorry I didn't get your name.

We stayed here overnight before a flight home. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, restaurant and bar were fabulous! Very walkable to shops and other restaurants. Only not great thing was we had to pull/carry our luggage in the snow across two streets to our building. In case this might be an issue for you just be aware when booking.

We really enjoyed this hotel- highly recommend getting a room with your own sauna!! It was lovely to spend time outside in the cold and come back to a warm sauna experience. Room was spacious, great balcony and very comfortable! The staff was always helpful and friendly and the restaurant onsite was really good and convenient for sure! The hotel also had tours available (our guide Sonya was great!) and that was super convenient as well.

The hotel is located opposite to a big supermarket and the supermarket is opened from 7 to 22. The breakfast is fine with refill regularly to keep the food hot and fresh.

This is an excellent place to stay as a couple or solo traveler. The staff are incredibly helpful and responsive. The guides are amazing. I really enjoyed the aurora hunt by car. The food at the restaurant was delicious. My room with the private sauna was perfect. There is no one that I saw to help with the luggage. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you have kids. It would be sort of boring. But I loved it

The suite is amazing. It spacious and the sauna in the room was nice to have for privacy. The room had a small back patio you could go outside and just watch the view as well. The food was also delicious.

Amazing hotel. The room was incredible, with a private Sauna, a view to the lake, an espresso machine and very comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful, and when prepared a special breakfast for me, as a vegan.

We were nicely received and the woman at the reception was quite accomodating and helpful as we had to make a slight change of our reservation. We also had a good meal in the restaurant and were very happy with this short stay in Ivalo!

Ideal location to be if you are visiting Ivalo. However hotel is situated in the vilage so there’s light oution for viewing Northern lights. Many tours are available at the htel but they are very exesive.

Reception was open till 10pm but she wait for me, so i could check in smootly at 10:15pm Breakfast was wonderful, i really enjoyed. Pretty lots of choice to eat. I heard some reviews about main building is a quite old, and yes it’s old but all facility is in main building so worth it. I stayed in sauna double room, the sauna wasn’t quite hot enough for me but still it was awesome thar i could do whenever i want. I will stay again if i chance to visit Ivalo!

Nice rooms and quite spacious, all is clean and staff is friendly. Ideally located in front of a supermarket/gas station and all the other shops are within walking distance. Restaurant has a cabin in the woods vibe and is serving good food, the nicest in town. the rooms are very nice. A sauna is available for 1h30 every day.

Very clean, good location! Large space- one of the bedrooms in the 2 bedroom apartment has glass doors with no curtains so zero privacy!!! The other bedroom has 2 twin size beds.

We scheduled a late check in after 3 international flights. The hotel was supposed to text lock box instructions but didn’t. We called, emailed, wandered around until after 11pm we booked another hotel. We called this hotel the next day and then went to the desk. All they wanted to do was blame us. We could prove we never received a text to either phone - they never proved that they sent them. Not an honest place.

The room is decently modern style, compared with other hotels in Ivalo city. easy to access Supermarket and a few restaurants nearby. They provided discount coupon for Pubi restaurant, for who is staying at this hotels. Kulathippu Hotel is best one in Ivalo. For the next time I would like to stay this hotel again

Hotel is located well. Minni bus from Ivalo airport drops u off at the hotel for 10€ a person. It is next to the lake. Has views of the lake from the back of the Restaurant. Breakfast was good, has options. Room was a little small but sufficient for 2 people. There is no Lift / Elevators, so one has to carry their luggage by stairs.We saw some norther lights around midnight. The hotel also helps arrange for Day/Evening tours. Over all a good experience. Would be happy to stay over another time, specially for Lake views and Northern lights.

I had a lovely stay at the Kultahippu. Had a small issue with my room when I arrived but staff were very friendly and dealt with it very quickly, couldn’t asked more. Very nice room and breakfast was great.
