Lovely little find so great.

The key redeeming factor is location. You really are in the heart of it. However, you are also crammed into a tiny bedroom with hardly any room to walk around the foot of the bed, framed - quite literally - by Picasso's Guernica nightmare scene. Not very soothing! It's also pretty noisy at night - so best you join the party (we did)!
There's also no parking - but that's fair enough - they never said they would be. Expect to pay another Eu20/day for that and ready yourself for the 1/2 km walk with luggage.

The main reason for my poor rating is the bed sheets. They were so rough it felt like I was lying on sand paper. I finally took them off the bed and slept wrapped in the duvet.
Bilbao is damp, and the hotel didn’t was dehumidifiers. I’d wake in the morning to a room where everything was wet. So wet I thought the roof must be leaking.
There is limited reception staff (no problem), but I was there 2 days before I saw anyone who worked there, and could ask for sheets that might be a bit softer. The answer was “no!”.

This quirky little pension in Bilbao's old town was only a 10-minute walk from the the main railway station and less than five from the nearest bus stop. But be prepared for walking up the 2 flights of stairs to the pension entrance. No double glazing, so sounds from outside carry - light sleepers should come equipped with earplugs. The pension is on a relatively quiet street with the nearest bar some 50 metres away. But the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom (walk-in shower, not a bath) a good size and well equipped, efficient reception staff and an overall friendly vibe, with plenty of places to eat and drink close by. I'd happily stay there again, the next time I'm in Bilbao.

Vicky and the rest of the front desk staff were extremely helpful and professional. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Great location in the old town, clean and modern room.

I loved the Pension Basque Boutique! It's in a great location in the the middle of Casco Viejo so lots of eating and drinking options very close by. Yes, it's not the quietist of spots but the double glazed windows do a lot to reduce the street noise and with the ear plugs provided the noise didn't disturb my sleep at all. The pension has a very chilled feel and as a solo female traveller I felt very safe there.
Staff are super friendly and helpful, in particular Vicki who gave me lots of suggestions of things to see in the city!
Would definitely recommend!

The receptionists were so lovely and helpful. The self check-in was easy and straightforward. The room was comfortable and clean. It’s located in old town, you have a pick of restaurants close-by. Anything good is in walking distance. 10/10 would recommend.

Loved the authentic feel of the property. The staff was helpful and location right in the middle of Casco Viejo/Old Town is perfect for enjoying local cuisine, beverages, and coffee. You can walk to most landmarks or use the tram. Excellent place to stay!

The pension was full of individuality and character. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was the only place we had stayed that provided hair straighteners as well as the usual amenities!

This is a small boutique hotel in the historical area. It was very quiet. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. There is no elevator so that could be a problem if you have large bags or mobility issues. Convenient to the metro (5 minute walk) Casco Viejo station and a bus ride from the airport.

Stayed in the basque room. Nice enough and a good location in the old town. Service was good and friendly staff. The room is a bit small and no where to easily put the case, that said the price is good value given the location

Good location in old town. Was concerned about the amount of noise mentioned in reviews but was not an issue. A fridge would be a good addition as would a mirror outwith the bathroom.

Only stay here if you have no wish to sleep. It is in an incredibly noisy area. The only sleep we got was from 8-10 am and when we asked for some extra time to check out we were told no. I would definitely not stay here again.

Cannot fault the hotel the staff were really nice and helpful never stayed at a hotel with hair straighteners (ghd) in the room and a area thats has coffee making facilities and a clothes rail full of traditional Basque clothing to try on and take pictures . Beds are very comfortable and the room design is really different.Right in the middle of the bars and restaurants . 5 minutes walk from the tram station (Ribera) which can get you around the city for €1.50 a trip or a day ticket €10 Next we go to we will staying .

What a great place to stay. Easy to find and access. Lovely staff. The location could not have been better. Loved it.

The place was a great location.
Staff were nice and it was easy to access.
We were however in a room that was right opposite the loudest corner of the old town. Although they offered earplugs it was to loud and I often did it sleep till 2am.
So if you want a quieter sleep I would recommend requestoing a room at the back of the floor.
The temperature was a bit difficult as the rooms got cold in December and wp the systems are connected.
Also a coffee nd yes area in the room would be nice and a pleasant touch. For the price I think that should be accessible in room
Hanging space and better tanleij he room t place your clothes and things on

The late night crowd noise wasn’t too bad because it became white noise like a beehive, however when the bars close the individual shouts and voices become clear between 3-5 am. And then the glass recycle trunk begins its route from 6-8am.

Loved the character of the property and situated right in the heart of the old town. Exactly what we were looking for and great place to explore for a short visit. Staff friendly and really helpful, easy check in. Could ask for more..

The staff were lovely and the room was very clean with some nice features. The hotel was right in the heart of the old town which meant everything was walkable and there were lots of bars and restaurants in close proximity. The trade off for this is that the street outside is very noisy throughout the night and again in the morning as the glass recycling bins are directly below the hotel. Earplugs are provided but even with these we were woken up throughout the night. Still worth it for the price and location in my opinion.

Central location, in the old part of town. Nice and exotic place, but the hotel was unfortunately in the middle of the party district with a lot of noise from the street. If you need to sleep in a quite room, stay away. If you like the vibrant feeling and want to stay in the middle of bars, restaurants, small botique stoors etc this is the place.
The room was big and the bath room as well. The reseption desk had nice english speaking people. We were very happy and had a lovely stay!

Great location. Very friendly staff. Very clean room.

The location on the old city was good for access but the noise was terrible. When they provide rear plugs as standard you know your on for a rough ride!
The glass recycling bins were under the window!

This place was just fine. I did not realize that we had 3 flights of stairs and no elevator. We had 1 heavy suitcase so not so great. Location was wonderful, lots of restaurants nearby. Could walk everywhere that we wanted to go too. My husband found the bed a little hard but I was okay. Actually I will not book any less than a 3 star from now on.

Clean facilities, easy check in. Walls were on the thin side but neighbors were quiet so no issues. Great water pressure. Building felt safe and secure despite being in the middle of the action.
Definitely some noise at night from the bars below, but earplugs were provided and with the windows closed I didn't find it to be an issue at all. If anything, proximity to the bars and restaurants was a huge plus. Would definitely stay again - great value for the location and quality of room.

We knew Check in was until 8pm but couldn’t find where to park the car. We called the hotel to ask them for a parking space and to let them know we were about to arrive ( it was 7:50).
We arrived 8:10 and there was nobody there so we had to wait in the street until someone finally answered the phone and have us the code (about 25 mins).
The hotel is located in the bar area and it is NOT prepared for this, we had the worst night ever because of all the noise from the street coming through the window.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Perfect location in the Casco Viejo. Each room with fun touches, nicely incorporating ancient architecture and modern art. That’s Bilbao!

Great location, lovely decor and easy check in and out.

Extremely central location, room was a bit dirtier than hoped for and the noise from the streets was a bit overwhelming.

Great service. Quick answers via email and great help on site.
Very unique place with a lot of Spanish spirit.

Great quirky hotel. All rooms featured something about Basque culture. My room featured music with a double base forming part of the clothes rail and a mini piano we used as a table. The staff were attentive and answered all our questions in a friendly manner. The hotel was clean and well presented and very convenient for all the attractions of Bilbao old town. We will definitely be back.
