We arrived at 2:30 am at the lobby hotel for them to tell us we couldn’t stay there. The manager told us we didn’t have proper identification which we did . We provided all the correct paperwork and he didn’t care to see them because the moment he realized we were two girls in a relationship he automatically denied service. He proceeded to call security to kick us out from the hotel at 4am after going back and fourth with him. We couldn’t get a hold of you guys because we were told we had to contact the agency that we booked on. Horrible experience!! After a few hours the head manager of hotel security checked out paper work and decided it was ok for us to stay but while we were there the service we got was horrible I’m assuming because we reported his discriminatory behavior. Our stay was the worst experience ever. I cannot believe we went through this because we are part of the LGBTQ community. Through our stay they discriminated us because everyone knew what happened . Very embarrassing days

Front Desk staff, specifically Israel, was very welcoming and helpful

The first time I stayed at this resort in 2023, I had an amazing time. Everything was perfect, staff, food and cleanliness. This is why for 2024, I decided to come back. This time sadly my experience was not as memorable.
The ladies and the one gentleman at the spa were phenomenal!!! They made my stay so much better. The young lady who did the check in for me was super sweet. But upon check in, the bedsheets were stained. I called the front desk and the lady who answered was extremely rude. I explained that I did not need to change rooms only the sheets needed to be changed as I was not sleeping on dirty sheets. This same lady whose name I did not catch (I should’ve ) again was extremely rude when I was trying to get change for a $50 dollar bill, funny thing I was asking another young lady at the front desk and she just barged in with her attitude. One night I go to the bathroom only to find a roach, alive!!! Then trying to schedule my return airport shuttle the young man from MTS made it impossible (this was paid already just needed a pick up time), he wanted me to buy whatever else he was selling. I understand that those tables right outside the lobby are of excursion companies not necessarily associated with the hotel, but if you are allowing contractors to interact with your guest at least set rules and expectations so that your guests are treated with respect and dignity.

Fun atmosphere, drinks were good, food could be better

Our stay started off smoothly with a friendly staff and easy check-in process. The property was beautiful and entertainment staff were fun. However, we were disappointed to learn that the air conditioning was broken, which made our stay uncomfortable at times. It would have been helpful to receive more information on how to access the neighboring resort which had a working AC and a lot more amenities.
The beach on our end was not swimmable due to seaweed and tides. We found housekeeping to be a bit frustrating as they would come early in the morning and not return later when requested. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, but as an adult all-inclusive resort, we expected more activities after 11 pm. As unfortunately, the lounge/disco were closed throughout our stay on our side.
For food the only downside was the limited options available after the buffet closed, which were basic. However on a brighter note, the food at the resort was some of the best we've had at an all inclusive. Another perk was not having to reserve at the restaurants so we got to try them all.
Despite these minor inconveniences , the trip will always hold a special place in my heart as my fiancé proposed to me on the beach during our stay.

I just got back from a beautiful trip with my husband we had such a good time our swim up room was right beside the main pool but it was still private. The bed was super comfortable. Just our patio door did not lock, but it was all good.

Everyone is so friendly, and I enjoyed my time. However there was a point where 3 of my shoes were mysteriously soaked with what I hope was water and no one explained to me, what happened. My neighbor’s room was flooded, but they assured me that wasn’t the case, and they made it seem like I was making a big deal that my property was altered. They washed one of the shoes, but I was told bc the other one was a certain material it could not have been messed up.

I believe that the pandemic hit everywhere in the world. I have been traveling all over and I must say this place was a disappointment.
First starts with the extortion of the shops charging $12.00 for a bottle of water and $18.00 for a bag of cheddar goldfish. The buffet in the Platinum area was another disappointment instead we had to walk over to the other resort and eat.
Mexico is not the same anymore and what a shame. Save the family and money and visit Europe for the same amount spent between airlines and transport and hotels.

I didn’t like much of the food. It wasn’t good quality.

The hotel was nice and we had access to the other princess hotel as well. There was a few things that I wished I knew before hand. Every bar closed at 6pm except 1 of them. All the pools closed at 8pm. This resorts is more for 40 people. But overall not a bad experience would stay again.

It was nice. Sargassum was bad at times.

The air conditioner didn't work from day one, and the hotel manager showed little concern about the situation. He claimed, 'We're doing everything we can, and the air conditioner will be fixed soon.' However, it remained unfixed for the entire seven days of our stay.
This hotel is ancient, and the rooms have not been renovated. The carpet is worn, and the service does not meet the standards of a five-star property, as they advertise. I would not recommend staying there."

Upon arrival we were given an "upgrade". The room we booked, was a king swim up with a couch. Our "upgrade" was a swim up with two full beds and no couch. This room had multiple things wrong with it including towel holders falling off the wall, broken outlets, hard water stains all over the shower. We had to go back after the first night and demand a room with a king size bed. This room was better and the only issue in there was that the two bathroom sinks didn't drain very well. The property was overall clean but there was trash left out on the grounds for four days that was never cleaned up. The staff was nice but trying to get a drink order at the buffet restaurant can be almost next to impossible. Speaking of the restaurants, the food is mediocre and nothing will blow your socks off. The drinks were good and most of the bartenders were nice and attentive but be warned that all the bars outside the restaurants and lobby close at 6pm including the only bar at the beach. All of the pools including the smaller ones for the swim up rooms close at 8pm and they will kick you out.

Property was great
There AC does not get cold at all
We had no AC for 10 days when we were there we had to change rooms cause it was really hot on the 3rd floor we came down to the 1st floor to leave our balcony door open in the evening to get some breeze
No Wi-Fi service at all the Wi-Fi shuts off every time u want to use your phone
There buffet was mediocre the sister hotel food had much more selection
For an adult only resort it was verryyyyy quiet no night life at all
The sister hotel had the night club and the sports bar which we were always going there for drinks and playing pool and eating at the buffets and restaurants
Even though the restaurants at the sister resort u have to make reservations the food was phenomenal
Oh and one more thing all there cups at the pools are disposable they reuse them again after you finish your drinks they wash them and stack them up and use for another person which I thought was very disgusting…

First time traveling alone as a woman and I felt safe throughout my whole stay. I will be coming back. Customer service all around is a 10/10.

We stayed here last week. Property was really unclean. We were given a room but the air-conditioner was not working. Staff changed the room and gave us one with better air-conditioner. But we lost the pool view we had booked for. One of the elevators in the wing where we stayed was not working properly and had blinking lights. Nobody repaired it. Food was mediocre. They kept serving the same desserts everyday.
Staff was excellent and helpful.

This last visit was our 6th time at PYP and has consistently been our favorite resort in Playa Del Carmen. We will NOT be returning however. The appalling behavior that is allowed by other guests and the lack of action by security lead to a frightening confrontation between myself (female, 110 lbs, 51 years old) and a young male guest nearly three times my size. This type of behavior is unacceptable and the resort took no action from the many complaints against this man from multiple guests. In ignoring the complaints, this behavior continued to the point of violent threats against myself and other guests in the same pool. PYP needs to retrain their security staff immediately.

Beautiful property but food is mediocre. The hibachi was great although it was disappointing that they didn’t offer authentic Mexican cuisine. The room service menu was more like a glorified fast food menu with nothing but a burger, pizza, hot dog, fries and ham and cheese sandwich. I couldn’t even get a fruit plate or espresso sent to the room for breakfast, even though it’s available in each restaurant on the property. The restaurants are not all open at the same time. One or two are bound to be closed & after 10pm, you’re stuck with fast food options on the room service menu or at the bar.
The beach is amazing but watch for the mapachi (Mexican raccoons). They’re adorable but also get into your bags if they smell food. Then there’s the beach security who takes his job of segregating guests with a grey resort bracelet from those with a black bracelet (apparently VIP) very seriously. He literally made us gather our belongings and move farther down to where the chairs are hard plastic as opposed to the soft cushioned ones in the “VIP section”. I’ll also mention that we spent every day of our seven day stay laying on those comfy chairs until the very last day when we were suddenly informed that we were not permitted to utilize that section of the seating area.
Overall it’s a nice resort. The all inclusive is a huge bonus despite the crappy room service and late night options. The staff are all super nice, with the exception of the 7th day beach patrol 🙄

This place was way way too quiet for an adult resort. And too strict with their dress code. Couldn’t take food outside their buffet to have a bite on the patio . Not a lot of smoking areas

It’s beautiful.
Need to improve the welfare of the natural habitat, especially the wildlife.

It was okay. We got there and our ac didn’t work. We had to fight with them to get switched to a different room. Once we got to a different room, the ac was working but the shower was had very low water pressure compared to the other room. Food was alright, plates were kinda small. Cleaning ladies came in every day and made our bed for us and tidied up our room.

The hotel was decent, but the staff was TERRIBLE. The difference of how they treat Mexicans vs foreigners is APPALLING.
My friends and I were mistreated in every restaurant and made to wait for almost an hour while foreigners sat, dined and left and we'd barely gotten drinks.
The DJ they hired played the same 10 songs the entire time we were there (almost a week), and when we asked him to change it, he replied he was busy.
The aircon was not properly maintained and smelled like mold and humidity everywhere you went.
Snacks were limited in time and variety, very disappointing. Restaurant times were also limited and you had to be chasing the "right time" to eat, or you were out of options.
Rescuable, some of the staff and the room were okay although the bathroom distribution was inconvenient.
Would definitely never stay here again.

The beach was very rocky, which we didn't expect. There are many pools which we used during our stay.

The staff is amazing and attentive to your needs. The food was delicious. There are many different forms of entertainment. Overall amazing place to stay, 10/10.
