Hotel was right across from the lake. Plus lake front walking to the village. Very nice.

The place is clean but old. The rooms are crammed with difficulty even getting out on the balcony. The service was mediocre, gave us one shampoo pouch for 3 people and have no service after hours to give you more. Great location right on the lake

Stayed 1 night. AC would not work do we kept the window open all night. About a 30 min drive from bordolino down a skinny road with lots of bikers makes it longer to get to than it may seem on a map. No swimmable beach super close to property either

Beautiful location with everything you need in walking distance.

Clean and neat location in a seminary school. We were fortunate to have a wonderfully located room with a balcony that looked onto the lake. Overall, it was a great value and I would definitely stay agian and recommend it to others. The one negative was that, while they have private parking, it was not free, and we only learned that they charge an additional fee for parking, along with the city tax, when we checked out.

Let me do the good first: the location, staff, and stay were wonderful. I would highly recommend this property.
We had a bit of a frustration with locating the property, and communication could be improved. We booked through VRBO, and this was my first time. The booking did not make clear to me that this was actually like a hotel. For all I knew, I thought it might be a room in someone's house. The property is called Garda Family House. On the VRBO map, it says Castelleto, and the address given (while, apparently accurate) when typed into Google Maps sent us to Torri del Benaco near Hotel del Porto which is 10 km away. We asked for directions multiple times, and people kept having the same experience and telling us we were in the right place when we were not. Prior to leaving, I sent messages to the property on June 2, June 3, July 25, and twice on July 26, and I received no response. We had no idea how to access the property, and not even a phone number. We did, however, have an address that even with the help of other, and Google Maps, we could not find. We searched for the property for about 3 1/2 hours, and finally, a local resident found a number to call and gave us more specific directions using landmarks. At this point, it was near 10 pm and we decided to eat before making a final attempt to find the property. When we arrived, we saw a sign from the main road, next to a church, that said "Garda Family House." Finally arriving, it was now 11:20 pm, and we were informed that we needed to pay an additional 20 Euro for "late check-in". I explained our frustration with not being able to find the property and their failure to communicate with us despite our attempts, and they told us the failure was with VRBO. They expected we would go to their own website - which I did not know existed. The hyperlink to the Garda Family House should be on the VRBO site. VRBO will not, however, let me post it - inexplicably. But, if you type "garda family house" (but remove the spaces and add .it to the end of your entry) into your browser, you should be able to access the property's homepage on the web, which would have eliminated the confusion and the added expense and frustration.
Now, the next morning, we woke up to the loveliest view in that part of the world. We had the loveliest breakfast on the terrace. We retrieved our car parked in the lot across the street. And, we had the loveliest visit with the staff. I unreservedly recommend this property.

quiet, peaceful, simple room / furnishing, clean. Excellent parking at no cost.Breakfast can be improved. Staff lackadaisical but friendly and pleasant. Certain professionality is necessary. If TVs with European channels can be provided, it is good. But I did not miss it. This was my second stay here in past 1.5 years.

We had a disappointing stay at this hotel. It is middle of no where. Barely 2 or 3 restaurants nearby some of which charge 25 % compulsory service charge!!!The hotel is managed by a religious organisation and operated by nuns. There is an extremely small sized beach yards away from the hotel. Not much to do really inside the hotel, the library was smelly with Italian bookThe hotel staff are friendly but can barely understand English. We had a full board sadly thinking that there will be a nice buffet with plenty of choice but sadly ended with a very basic uncooked selection of breakfast with just croissants, yogurts, cheese etc. The lunches were terrible, with just a basic pasta with ordinary sauces nothing in it, no vegetables etc, we went for the cheese selection as a second course, which was equally disappointing with just cheeses and mushy peas and a tiny spoon of honey!! it was la carte with basic selection and not very good for vegetarians, just cheese selection! The dinner was also la carte and strictly ok, with tiny portions and if you are lucky, they will serve you another portion of the starter. But beware, the hotel will charge you for water. The biggest drawback for families is there is no swimming pool. The fridge was just working, there is no tv in the room!! (yes really!!) and the tv in the common room doesnt even have 1 English channel!! The taxi looted us by not staying true to its quote and the bill came to hundred and thirty euros!!!!

We stayed one night in this hotel and had a room at the top floor. This room had a very nice and spacious balcony (almost roof terras) with a very good view of the lake.
It is located in a small town with a decent supermarket and a small marina with a few restaurants and two boat rentals, one for sailing boats, the other for motor boats.

Nice and clean, but felt like a dorm room. Small pillows. No extras in room. Simple, quiet breakfast room. Glimpses of the Good Sisters...

Would definitely recommend!

This was a very unique place in that it was a Catholic center and had a children's school. We knew all about it when we booked and we're thrilled to stay there. The view of lake Garda was superb and was the dinner at Alla Fassa. Sometimes on a trip a person needs to relax and Garda family house is the way to do it.

A very good hotel indeed as reviewed by previous expedia users! We booked 2 rooms for a night and got upgraded for free to lake view ones, simply breathtaking.
Location is for driving travellers, near the church in the town centre. Free parking in the garden, lots of space.
Breakfast is good in variety but could have supplied more in quantity.

The building where the hotel is situated is very impressive and the location is beautiful. Rooms were clean, continental breakfast was good

Modern, but comfortable, excellently maintained, relatively small -- 40 rooms, fridge in room but no booze, no TV in room -- intentionally. Balcony with lake vie, goof breakfast, btu boili, no scrambled eggs. Best from three hotels visited in the lakes area.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful area. Can easily walk to restaurants and gelato. I would definitely stay again!

We called the hotel before flying to ask if they could arrange for a taxi to collect us from the airport. The website stated that the staff were multilingual but after 15 minutes trying to explain on the phone and an email later we arrived at the airport to find no taxi waiting. As we had to get a taxi from Verona to the hotel that wasn't a fixed price it cost us 110 euros - not a good start to our holiday budget. On arrival the receptionist was very nice, could speak good English and let us up to our room before check in time which was kind of her. The corridors were very poorly lit but the room was okay, a fantastic view from the balcony and very clean room but the bed was rather solid and uncomfortable. We went out into the local area to eat lunch, none of the menu's were in English (Like other tourist areas) but we found a nice place by the small harbour and had our meal there (There wasn't much of a selection of places to go). We then had a wander around and found that there was only one shop which was like an off licence so it was very rural. In the evening we eat at the hotel, the staff were not multilingual and we didn't have a choice in the menu so it was just put infront of us and added to our bill. We tried to travel the next day but was told only 2 boats came into the harbour so we would have to walk 3km to the next one to travel anywhere. We found out that its a religious retreat hotel as the guests made us uncomfortable by staring as we are not married. We left.

It was a great place for a family. They are friendly and very kind. The only thing that I think that they have to be better at was that our family had booked a suite but when we came they gave us a 4 bed room. When we talked to them they admitted doing it on purpose (!). We cleared it out, but I do not think that a place owned by nuns and a church should not try to fool a family. It feels wrong.

Beautiful, modern hotel with huge garden and great location. Stuff and nuns were very kind! Breakfast starts at 8.00 - for us too late but otherwise everything was perfect.

I had a great time staying here. It's a beautiful hotel, run by nuns (but you don't have to be religious at all to stay here). Comfortable rooms with a fantastic breakfast spread, quiet to sleep at night in a picturesque location. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely hotel, reception staff friendly & very helpful, breakfast was lovely but the evening meal & service were very disappointing.
