This is a nice hotel in the centre of Bethune. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. The bar and restaurant are excellent. Parking is available nearby and is not too expensive for a central location. All in all a nice place to stay

Pleasant hotel, acceptable cleanliness. Good location on the town square. A little noisy on a Saturday night.
2.0
The room was very outdated with wall paper coming off the wall. Stains on the carpet and had a smell of stale tabacco. The bed sheets however were clean.
There was also a lot of noise in the square so it was difficult to sleep before 1am.

Even given the circumstances, an enjoyable two nights stay. We had stayed previously when the hotel was just a building site, so interested to return. Excellent location, although forced to use underground parking at €18/day due to Spring Fair (which never opened). Nice room overlooking the main square and associated views, though quite noisy due to adjacent Irish bar. Bay window opened onto short unsecured balcony which would be unsafe for children. Numerous cigarettes ends scattered in same area. Pleasant and friendly English speaking staff - I'm sure our review could have been more expansive if not for the extreme circumstances, and glad to get away before the lock down.

This is a very comfortable hotel in a great location on the Grand Place of which we had a lovely view from our window. Would happily return

It was perfect place , nicest staff , comfortable and clean and quiet

It was too hot and too loud. A real shame as the location is brilliant. But we had no chance to sleep. If the hotel could buy double-glazing and air-con then I would recommend to everyone.

Such a pathetic hotel. Charging 65+ euros per night and literally no facilities at all.
NO WIFI as described in the ad.
The bathroom doesn’t have any hooks to hang clothes or even towels,
Even the toilet tissues are very old and wet,
The bedsheets are stinking,
The window door doesn’t close properly and one cannot avoid the noisy bars around the hotel,
Overall, a pathetic hotel. Will NOT recommend to anyone.

Bethune is such a beautiful town - the town square is straight off the front of a chocolate box and the hotel overlooks its wonderful architecture. It's the perfect stopover if you are en-route to Calais, just an hour south. The hotel's staff are great and the food in the restaurant is outstanding.

In an excellent location overlooking the Grand Place in Bethune ideally located to take advantage of this lovely large town, in our case the local Christmas market which is well worth a visit.

Family tradition. Visit to brewery, chocolate shop and Christmas market, wonderful.

Great place, great location. Dog stays for free! Friendly staff and great value.

Bethune is a pretty town, and this hotel is right in the middle with a fantastic view over the square. We arrived late (past midnight) but that didnt matter to the staff, who were very helpful. Our room was newly decorated and stylish and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was nice. You can park outside the hotel (in the main square) over night. At 8am in the morning the parking meter kicks in and you must get a parking ticket, and pay by the hour.

Great hotel, great staff and very enjoyable stay. The fair was outside so they moved us to the back of the hotel without us even asking. Great customer service

Brilliant location, friendly staff, modern room, needed extra pillows (but we didn't ask!)
Loud karaoke in bar on Saturday night which we heard although we had a room at the back. Adequate buffet breakfast - they were running out of things -no eggs, dry pancakes cold croissants, just one cup of coffee -room for improvement

Good hotel clean modern room . Cold water in the shower in the evening but hot in the morning .
We were there on a Saturday night so loud music outside until the early hours .
Wi Fi was rubbish and not fast enough to use .

A never to be repeated experience! Started with a 15 minute wait in reception as nobody there. Then a waitress materialised and handed me a key and when asked about wifi etc i was told she wasn't the receptionist. The room was jaded and dirty. Literally covered in dust. The saving grace was the bed was clean. Bathroom was just old, torn Lino on the floor and a hole in the wall. It's in the middle of a busy square so room was like a sauna over a nightclub. No air con and the wifi when I finally got a code didn't work. Staff went out of their way to be rude. Took ages to book out even though I pre paid as they had to work out tax. The whole experience was painful

No hot water so had to carry on our journey to the alps unwashed.

I would not recommend this hotel. The restaurant on the bottom floor is open till 2am and the noise from the patio echoes around the courtyard so do not plan on sleeping till pass then. The elevator is broken and it is a long walk up. The mattress is broken down and sags badly in the middle, The room had a film of dust over everything.
A very unpleasant weekend.

Excellent room & bar facilities, enjoyed our stay here, but beware getting a meal on a Saturday night anywhere in Bethune is difficult

Hotel was ok, the only disappointing point was cleanliness of the room. Bed cover had stains from something and sleeping blanket was old enough.

A great location right on the beautiful & historic main square. I took the 10-15 minute walk from the train station but there is a bus and taxis. The external view is of a grand old building from another century however the inside is modern and comfortable. I didnt use the bar or restaurant but they looked nice and busy. My room was comfortable but nothing outstanding. Decent TV but no tea making facilities. Bathroom was ok albeit a little tired. Shower overflowed onto floor due to shower tray being shallow and curtain a little short. Great view over the square towards the Belfry tower.Staff were fine but not overly customer focused. Several times I had to wait around before one came through from the bar area to see to me, without any apology for having to wait around.A few doors away is an Irish pub and the square has many bars and restaurants too. The streets immediately leading off the square have nice shops etc but Bethune itself appeared a ,little run down.

Lovely warm bedrooms for very cold winter weekend.

Hotel reception were surprised to see us as Expedia had not told them we were coming!!
Luckily they had rooms free and gave us a lovely room overlooking the main square with the beautiful Christmas Market.

The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom, which looked recently refurbished, was roomy with good, hot, powerful shower. Bed was comfortable but no easy chair and the upright chair was quite old with dirty fabric. Only French language channels on TV (I would expect one of BBC world or CNN)
I got the impression that the beautiful location and lack of competition for food has led to this hotel resting on its laurels as far as service is concerned. The greeting at reception was very cursory - just given a key and told 'second floor'. The service in the restaurant was dreadful. I went in, identified myself as a resident and ordered a drink then a starter and main course. Twenty five minutes later I managed to catch a waiter's eye (they were talking and joking a lot with each other and with a local family they seemed to know who had come in to eat - I felt like an intruder in their private house) he came across to tell me that they didn't have the starter and main that I had ordered. When I protested that I had been waiting for 25 minutes he said 'Je suis desole' in a dead pan voice and turned away. I got the impression that poorly trained staff had been left to get on with things with no competent supervision or management.

Great location on the square over looking the bell tower. The hotel looked unkempt, with litter on the stairs and not very clean. Our room was tatty, ripped wallpaper, dirty marks, loose fittings and a plastic sheet as a shower curtain - the water went everywhere!! Looks like there were some refurbished rooms, but we did not get one, although the hotel was far from full. The bed was clean and comfortable. In essence rather disapointing.
